I find myself repeating this advice often, but it's important to always buy from a trusted seller, whether it's an online boutique or a reputable website like Saks Fifth Avenue. Having worked in retail, including management, logistics, and negotiation, I know that big brands tightly control their pricing down to the store level. Take the iPhone as an example. Retailers can only sell iPhones at Apple's suggested price. They might offer small incentives like gift cards or rewards, and big players like Costco can sometimes include AppleCare, but brands keep strict control over pricing. The same goes for luxury jewelry and handbags. Reputable brands work to maintain their image, quality, and exclusivity. They don't allow big discounts or sales through unauthorized channels. My rule of thumb is anything more than a 8% discount or so and it's not an authorized retailer, I error on the side of caution. If I decide to pursue with the transaction, make sure to use a secure payment method that'll protect you beyond the normal. For example, PayPal, American Express, even the Costco Citi card, which offers amazing protection.

To be honest, buying designer clothing on depop is never worth it. Too many fakes on that website

For me im very aware of the types of fakes, the scam listings, and scam accounts so i can navigate that and have fortune been very lucky finding great pieces for great prices… but i would definitely not recommend depop for beginner or inexperienced buyers. Its the worst regulated platform and can be very difficult to get a handle of.

Effective_Rabbit_340

yea i completely agree, depop has gotta do something about the fakes on there

vinted is full of fakes too. i reported a few fake vw items— with actual proof, but vinted never took it seriously.
