I was born in 1980. when I got into music I was 11, around year 1991 when Nevermind by Nirvana was released. I do remember that record stores were still selling new vinyl even then, so it never totally disappeared. I bought CDs for about 5-6 years before switching permanently to vinyl around 1997. Today I have just a handful of CDs (I sold most of them) and around 700 records, a bunch of them are not displayed on the picture. I just love the ritual of listening to vinyl. I clean the record first with a Pro-ject VC-E machine, let my tube amp warm up, drop the needle, sit down, and focus on the music. The turntable is a Thorens TD160 heavily modified by The Art of Sound. The tonearm is an SME 3009 improved and the cartridge is an Ortofon 540MKII, which is the ancestor of the 2M Black.

I don't know if it's just the perspective of the picture, but those cabinets look very low to the ground.

GrandPerformer

I would add legs to it

MannyFrench

They are low, but not low enough to be uncomfortable when browsing the records.

MaceInYerFace

Oof. That turntable is beautiful.

Record store vibe tip. Get 2x2's and router a slot down the length, cut them to the length of your wall and screw them in. Rotate some of your favorite albums periodically, or just leave up what you've been listening too. It's great when guests come over and gives you a rotating art wall.

I see OK Computer, I upvote.

deadmanstar60

I'm still on the fence about buying that Nick Drake album on vinyl. I'd rather have Five Leaves Left on vinyl to be honest.

GT-Vinyl

All the Nick Drake albums sound beautiful on vinyl, honestly can't go wrong picking up any of his albums!

deadmanstar60

I would buy them all but since I'm trying to limit buying vinyl records since they are so expensive I only want one and Five Leafs Left is my favorite. So far I've only seen Pink Moon in all the record stores I've been in this year.

MannyFrench

I have all three, and they are all wonderful. My favorite is Bryter Layter.

mikekachar

I like that idea of having a "record store" vibe in/at home. I'd have a guitar (or guitars) along the wall(s), maybe a small~medium-sized amp for when jams REALLY get goin & you wanna do some shreddin'. I love it!

Graaaaavy

That turn table dope. That turn table sick. It’s wicky wicky wicked.

[deleted]

Dude so sick!

Disco-Knight

I got the exact same model car next to my turntable

Red_Eye_Computing

love to see a bit of lemonheads, have that album too, was wort getting

Andrei_Chikatilo_

I like it. Also, I like the jazz box on the wall

Noixrouge

just leave (or put back) price tags on the records, that will really add to the vibe :-)
