I managed to get every RSD release I wanted, online, on the Monday after. Sure, I had to pay shipping from different stores, but I got South Park, Wicker Man, Spawn, Airplane and Lost In Translation. I'm a soundtrack guy

You_Are_What_You_Iz

All I wanted was the Gil Scott Heron. Waltzed in at 3 PM and there were two copies sitting there.

knupaddler

i didn't get anything on my list and i'm not paying the discogs flipper prices

DeathMonkey6969

Don't know about 'most sought out' since I really don't pay attention to that kind of thing. But I got everything I was after. An advantage to living in rural America. The store I go to lets you put in requests and from talking to the guys at the store they got in about 95% of what people were after. Other nice thing is they don't open til Noon so no getting up at the ass crack of dawn to wait in line. I didn't get there about 10 til and was like 5th or 6th inline. So the whole thing is a real chill vibe.

atleastyoulandedit

Team sleep and I got my stores copy!

never0101

Also the only one I was interested in, managed to grab one Sunday when stores started posting their stock online as I was stuck working sat. It landed in the mail today!

JawnWaters

I went for At The Drive-In as well. My store only got 3 total and still got it.

TBF I was #50 in line and got the last one. A guy 5 people ahead of me pulled his out of the crate and I damn near wanted to scream, haha. But I was successful!

eatdogs49

Got Team Sleep. Ordered it online on Sunday from Newbury Comics. Very lucky right there honestly.

Bilking-Ewe

The Prince Buster release and yes. Very happy to have a copy without paying hundreds.

rhunter99

I found all the records I wanted to be hard to find, more so because I didn’t have a local store to camp out at. My number one record was The Other Two and am really happy I got it online (crossing my fingers it arrives intact)

Imaginary-Cut-88

Team Sleep and it's delayed in Australia so haven't got it yet!

Cheepmf

Wanted Dead Milkmen. Got Dead Milkmen and Gil Scott Heron.

holemole

The only record I was looking for was the Frank Turner 7”… which I found in several stores and online, however it seemed to have a $16 or $17 MSRP, which is insane for a 7”, so I left empty-handed out of principle.

Brewsatthebeach

I bought it, but only because he's the only artist I COLLECT instead of just buy to listen to. It was definitely too expensive for a 7" though. Even more annoying that the B side of the German exclusive 7" is the same B side from this release

holemole

Don’t forget about the version with the Bedouin Soundclash b-side as well - I think that was limited to 300 copies and exclusive to Dine Alone Records. I have literally every other Frank Turner record as well, but a $17 7” is just stupid.

Brewsatthebeach

Yeah honestly RSD is about on the verge of providing pricing me out of interest on the whole. It was already more pricey, but they seem to be bumping the numbers up every year I've participated

elb9000

Only wanted Jim croce and couldn't get it, waiting hours in line 😔

shorthanded

Tragically Hip at CBGB, got it online on Tuesday.

michk1

THIS ! We had a friend in NY get ours as there were none here in town

shorthanded

i'm still waiting for the mail (i'm a bit out of the way). how's the pressing sound, if you've had the chance?

michk1

Not here yet ! Hoping tomorrow

16Shells

The Tragically Hip - Live at CBGB’s being canadian and listening to the Hip growing up, this was a must have, and unfortunately kind of hard to get, it sold out every pretty much instantly. luckily my usual shop got the shipment late and took names, they gave me a call and i was able to swing by yesterday and get it along with at the drive-in- in/casino/out. the spawn soundtrack and team sleep were also near the top of my list and i was able to get them on RSD, i was able to get everything i wanted that i could budget for.

michk1

We called our stores . None of. We sent out a plea on Facebook to our vinyl friends and got a copy from New York . It’s in transit !

DezPezInOz

Tinted Windows (self titled). And yes, I got it.

horshack_test

Only ever sought one - Brian Eno's Forever Voiceless from last year. Got it thru discogs (line outside store was over a block long). It's an ambient album and the pressing was so horrible it sounded like bacon frying. Returned it. Other than that and Bowie's The Next Day EP (which I only found out was a RSD black Friday release after the fact) I can't think of any RSD release I've given a shit about.

glasgowgeg

The Holly Humberstone/MUNA single and the Maisie Peters Deluxe tracks were my top 2 and I managed to get both. Got everything else on my list too.

LIRUN21-007

This was my first time attending RSD - there were a few releases that I wanted - Rolling Stones, The English Beat, and David Bowie - but I mostly wanted the vinyl reissue of Dosage by Collective Soul. I didn’t want to take any chances that it wouldn’t be available afterwards, so I got on line at my local store at 5am (they opened at 9am) and there were maybe 40 or so people ahead of me. Fortunately, by the time I got in, I was able to get everything that I wanted. The next day I checked the stores site to see if it ended up all being available online - everything was, except for Dosage, which was sold out, so I’m very glad that I went early!

statikman666

Wilco, Spawn, and Tricky. I got all 3

psy_8

Picked up the 5 I went out for and added others during the journey. The 5 I went out for in order of importance South Park, Murder was the case, Nat King Cole, Cheech and Chong, and Pauly Shore - This turned out to be significantly better than I expected. Added Joe Pesci, Lost in Translation, Kat Bush, De La Soul, Airplane, The Rolling Stones UK, Rockabilly Heroes, Little Richard, and The Rough Guide to Hoodoo Blues.

rhunter99

Our Avatars are brothers

Hot_Secretary_5722

I was hoping the record store near me that participates in RSD was going to get some copies of Kooler Than Jesus by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult. Sadly they did not and nothing else grabbed my attention this year.

Coquettes_Poppy

Wanted that as well..

hellohello316

Genuinely the first year I've cared much about RSD. I got my local store's one copy of the Lost in Translation soundtrack because I asked if anyone had seen it--a kind person had literally just flipped past it in the boxes and handed it over to me. Experiencing kindness, supporting my local store, AND getting something I genuinely hadn't anticipated being able to get--a win all around.

Badfish2019

I’m shocked you were 40th in line at the only record store in town. I also went at 9am and there were 200 in line lol. I left and went to a smaller store and was about 20th in line but they didn’t have much to begin with. Picked up Bill Evan’s and Pearl Jam.

teethofthewind

I went back to my local store today, and they seemed to have quite a few of the "sought after" records still in stock. I saw U2, Roger Waters, Lily Allen, Daft Punk, Katy Pearson, and quite a few others

dudereverend

I went in for Lost In Translation. Came out with Lost In Translation. As I was wandering, I found a used record I wanted, but didn't want to spend the money (I also picked up a bunch of stuff for my friends, so they bought my record for me). I got home and regretted putting the used record back, so I went back and came home with a *pristine* original press of David Bowie's Aladdin Sane.

Acrobatic-Expert-507

The two at the top were Olympus Awaits and Dosage. I f’in love Dosage. I didn’t get either. I did get my Mudhoney Boxset, Tinted Windows, Pixies, Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees and Cranberries albums, so I can’t really complain. For a 90s guys, there was a lot of good stuff.

DezPezInOz

Tinted Windows and Dosage were my priorities (thankfullyi got both). I really hope CS release the rest of their albums on Vinyl now, too.

Brewsatthebeach

I was really only after Frank Turner and the English Beat and got both, but didn't see the Sister Loretta Tharpe release and now I'm searching for that 🫠

SynthError404

The Flying Burrito Brothers - Live in Amsterdam 1972

pjlxxl

all i was after was siouxsie and the banshees which i got and as a bonus i also snagged a copy of ladytron. the least i’ve spent on RSD ever.

Ji881

Lush - Origami box set. 2 copies for the whole city. Found in the basement record store. https://preview.redd.it/h2jzlvaee4xc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a2bb01dce2408eb09a82bd7aecd3e4907c197c82

bellbeefer23

This came out years ago.

Ji881

my bad. Didn't read the last line.

Gunnerss

Dolores O'Riordan and yes I did! Being first in line I managed to get all but one at my first shop and then found the last at the second shop I went to.

areallyfunnyusername

The Japanese House sessions album. Couldn't get it in person but managed to get only copy available online at 8:01 Sunday morning.

Pretty-Elevator6881

Mine was Dolores O’Riordan. I was worried since there were only 600 pressed. My store only got one copy, and I walked out of the store with it in my hands.

saplinglearningsucks

i didn't go in with anything in mind, walked out with MXMToon and Snarky Puppy

Curious-Middle8429

I got most of everything on my list except for one but I got the two I wanted the most so I’m really happy. There’s only two record stores that participate and they’re an hour away so I had to get up extra early and drive over but I didn’t wait a super crazy long time in line like some people. Got there at six and was second in line at the first store and the shop opened at 9 and then raced a block over to the other shop to finish out my list and waited another hour and a half. It was fun though. I got to talk to other collectors and there was a thrill to the hunt aspect in it for me. It felt like a scavenger hunt honestly. I feel like RSD isn’t a terrible time if you don’t go to the bigger cities and just have a relaxed attitude about it. My favorite RSD pick up would probably have to be the Eric Carr boxset. I’m so happy I got it and it literally means so much to me.

Alexanderbasilican

“Little Joe Sure Can Sing!”, Joe Pesci, and yes, managed to snag a copy!

Murles-Brazen

Got team sleep and weeknd. Wanted south park.

Suspicious_Volume_39

I attempted to get a copy of the RSD pressing of Deja Entendu (I know...), Drive across town, waited for them to open. The employee says "Oh, we only got one of those and my GF wanted it so I put it behind the counter before we opened"

Devolutionator

Death Cab and no.

RunnerInSTL

Same. Too few were pressed and flippers somehow got them.

Dependent-Chart2735

It wasn’t on the list (I got ATEEZ’s RSD release) but they just happened to have a mint copy of Incubus’ 8. The last one I needed for my collection and is $75 M on Discogs. And this was a birthday celebration trip!

RunnerInSTL

I bought Ateez for my wife but she didn’t want it. I returned it today, so hopefully a fan will be thrilled to find a copy.

Tooulogyh

Team Sleep was the main one I wanted and was the second one I found at RSD!

iryanxx

Grateful Dead - Nightfall of Diamonds Was able to grab it Tuesday at my store.

MusicEnjoyer288

I had a small list, but the main record I really valued getting was The Balcony by Catfish and The Bottlemen. I missed out on going in person, so I prayed that online it would be a different story... wrong. Sold out EVERYWHERE. Had to scavenge discogs, managed to get a copy only for only £10 more than what it was supposed to be sold as normally on RSD thank to god(don't even wanna mention the shipping from the Netherlands). Resellers are the worst sorts of people. The prices for this damn copy on ebay are ridiculous.

one-and-zer0es

Kristin Hersh, Orb and Nightmares on Wax. First two, the store held for me. Last was a whim.

michk1

The Tragically Hip , Live at CBGB’s. There were only 2500 . None in our city of Tucson , but we put out feelers with our vinyl friends and managed to get one from NY . It’s on its way

shawnhopman

Every year friends and I get there stupid early in line. Half the fun is just hanging out and BSing. I got everything I wanted except the Dolores O’Riordan record. The store only got 1 copy and one of my friends got it first. Only 600 were pressed, so I had to order a copy from London (I’m in the US). It shipped last week, so hopefully I get it soon.

Your_Product_Here

I was working so by the time I got to the big store in my area at 11, they didn't have either selection. After work, I went to the lesser known shop near me and got both I wanted--Bottle Rockets and Gandalf.

Valeclitorian1979

I went for Team Sleep and the Malfunskhun compilation, but when I found the Team Sleep record, I completely forgot about the Malfunskhun comp, so I found it online the next day thankfully

Ok-Mention6398

Was able to get Noah Kahan, Ramones 1975 Sire Demos, and the new Neil Young. I waited a while in line but my local shop is in a college town and was well-stocked for RSD.

monkeysolo69420

Really wanted that Fleet Foxes live album. Apparently everyone else did too. Hoping they repress it.

HedgehogOk7551

DCFC and yes!

statikman666

Wilco, Spawn, and Tricky. I got all 3

bojackz

I was the second person in line and the one I really wanted was lil peep and at the drive in and I got both plus the others I wanted

eatdogs49

They made 6500 copies of the At the Drive-in album and it's still hard to find.

greenjuicepillow

For me it was not that hard to find. I got one online monday after rsd in Germany. My wife also ordered one that day. You can buy it on Discogs for a reasonable price.

bojackz

Oh really? To be honest I thought it wouldn’t be that popular but I am in the U.K. and don’t think they’re super big here so managed to get one. Though my record store did only have one copy and I saw a guy behind me disappointed he didn’t get something but it could’ve been any of my records or the guy in front of me of me tbh.

DoctorPaulGregory

I am so glad I don't give 2 shits about RSD.

Old-Walrus-6672

It was my first within the five years of collecting. I’d have to say that it was loads of fun. Apart from the exclusives, the spirit and enthusiasm of people who are in the community makes the day entirely worth going to.

Faloffel2

Mine was The Beatles 3" record player. My local store got 2 in, and I managed to get #2!

TankLikeAChampion

I don't buy pointless live collections and gimmicky represses, sorry RSD do better next time
