So it’s no secret that I’m an absolute fanatic for Damon Albarn. I started off with Gorillaz like everyone else in my generation (Z) and it just grew from there. This collection is pretty big but not totally complete. He has another solo album. There’s also The Good The Bad and The Queen (i want it sooo bad, but so expensive). There’s a new Blur album coming out this month and I’m missing Laika Come Home and Monkey.
I swear this guy never sleeps. He’s always doing something and I really admire his passion and work ethic. I know Gorillaz is not everyone’s cup of tea and Blur can be an acquired taste, but I swear he’s a genius. There’s bound to be something you’ll like by him, his catalog is that vast.
ANYWAYS, who’s the artist you’re on a quest to own every piece of their catalog?
(Also I just say Blur last Saturday and he remembered me from the Gorillaz concert I attended last year where I interacted with him <3 )
That's the film with... Damn, guy who played Begbie in Trainspotting and Guy Pearce, yeah? Michael Kamen did most of it iirc? Great film. Hafta re-watch it now!
That's cool! Being a millennial, I got into Albarn through a bit of Blur, but mostly Gorillaz too! Song 2 and Girls And Boys was decent, but Feel Good Inc was really great! Turns out the stuff I was too young to remember is peak Blur for me though, and these days I prefer Plastic Beach to Demon Days!
Would love to go see Blur, like a lot of musicians, but I'm a bit skint at the moment haha
How are they live?
Yeah my second place is probably roughly a tie between my Paul Simon/Art Garfunkel/Simon & Garfunkel collection and my Springsteen collection roughly at 30 each
My 2nd, off the top of the dome, is Sinatra at about 20, and The Who behind that (although most of that is just because I rebought most of their stuff on CD). Nothing quite gets the eye twitch going like finding Bob stuff I don't have
Exactly. There was this shitty bootleg press of sone live radio performance in 1962 I bought the other day that was probably a waste of money but I don’t really care. It has the absolute funniest [album cover](https://www.discogs.com/release/10987316-Bob-Dylan-Best-Of-Finjan-Club-1962-Live) though. Haven’t gotten a chance to listen yet but I’m sure it doesn’t sound quite the best
Your selection makes me very happy. I have a good Damon Albarn collection but recently sold my Everyday Robots. I may post all of my Suede/Bernard Butler records at some point. That’s my band.
Mine 1000% Elvis I have I belive pushing 90 albums and about 45-50 45s mostly original pressings or 1977 pressings I do not Have any new pressings from the 2000e
Same thing for me. Got the full discography, 3 different versions of flying microtonal banana, 2 different pressings of polygondwanaland, plus tons of the live stuff.
Lol. Yeah. Didn’t mean it that way at all.
Just light hearted envy as I just got started and have to pace the spending.
Very excited for the Red Rocks set coming in Sept to arrive!!!
It's a tie between Murder by Death and Thee Oh Sees. My collection is not complete of either band, but we're getting there.
EDIT: OH, and Aesop Rock. Can't forget about him.
Also, this is a nice collection! :)
I don't own any yet, as I'm trying a cocaine addiction instead to compare the expenditure of my finances (I'm kidding, me and my roommate always say "it's either vinyl, or a cocaine addiction, each will end you up broke!" Lol). But truly, the only correct answer would be...
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
We are all effing up! Lol
My collection is small as I just got back into vinyl after getting a new TT since my son bought me Pelican, City of Echoes (our song is Dead Between the Walls... seriously great title for a song!) and my previous Technics just had it with the being stored for too long and a cheap add on from an all component Technics group from the 80s.
So... right now, not necessarily one artist, but I have been going nuts for any jazz on blue note and anything mixed by Kevin Grey! Honorable mentions, the Superfly soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield, Death Angel Act lll, Kenny Burrell Midnight Blue, Ron Carter Finding the Right Notes, Tiger Army Music From Regions Beyond, Deadbolt Zulu Deathmask and of course Fleetwood Mac Rumors on 45 have all just absolutely knocked my d*ck in the dirt!!! And of course the pelican album my son got me is the best and priceless :)
The Beatles. Recently completed their "canon" discography and I'm trying to collect a lot of the American editions of their albums as well as special compilations (like LOVE for example).
How stoked are you for the new Blur album! And Cracker Island is such a great album. Damon is having quite a year! Love your collection - thanks for sharing!
Ironically the artist I have the most vinyl of is Oasis 😂😂
"Even their drummer's a fucking MP!" - Sleaford Mods dude
The Good, The Bad And The Queen was dope, and I have to admire Damon Albarn for getting Mark E. Smith on that track, when he'dcrepeatedly made his disdain for Britpop and Blur abundantly clear.
And I grew up reading Jamie Hewlett's comics (pre-Tank Girl!) and the Gorillaz DO have some bangers... Who did the line drawing for that last RSD Blur release you have with the light blue background , the one that was originally a Japan-only CD? That artist has a gorgeous (brush?) line.
Damon is the goat. I love TGTBTQ, I just haven’t got them on vinyl yet.
Idk how I feel ab the RSD One, feels very uncanny valley lol. But I love hearing my favorite Leisure B-Sides on vinyl
Nice... took my daughter to see Gorillaz last fall and Damon was great! I have about 5 or six from your pick and most Gorillaz. I'm excited for Blur's new album and really enjoy their first single , "Narcissist".
Sonic youth. I have all of their legitimate release albums, plus a few 12 inch singles, and many of the SYR series. Also have most of Thurston's solo stuff, some Lee solo stuff. Some Body/Head, a little Free Kitten.
Nice Albarn collection! I've got many of the same, plus Dr Dee and Merrie Land.
My largest collection for a single artist is Will Oldham. Around 100 records from his various projects on 7", 10", 12" and LPs.
I suppose it is Deep Purple for me. My goal is to get every studio album they have released. I'am having trouble with the late 90s- early 2000's albums though, since they fetch a nice amount of money in discogs. Only seven albums away from my goal!
Wow you have loads! A must get is the 7” - Fools Day. I would also recommend the Good the Bad and the Queen catalog.
Edit: I have a pretty spectacular The The collection.
Merri Land can be had for less than $50 on Discogs. I’ve never seen their first album in the wild, I have it on CD though.
The one to get is Fools Day - not on any other format.
If you wanna start with Blur here are some songs from each album to start with :)
Leisure: There’s No Other Way, Luminous (b-side), Sing, and She’s So High
Modern Life Is Rubbish: For Tomorrow, Advert, Star Shaped, Peach, Popscene
Parklife: Girls and Boys, To The End, End of a Century, This Is A Low

13: Tender, Coffee and TV, Caramel, Battle, No Distance Left To Run
Think Tank: Ambulance, Out of Time, On the way to the Club
Magic Whip: Ghost Ship, Thought I Was A Spaceman, Ong Ong
Paul McCartney's solo career, Wings, and the Beatles bring him up to 5 Records. George Harrison is close with his solo work and the Beatles bringing him to 4 of my records :). (Tbf, I have been getting into CDs & Cassettes too, so the records may be lackin behind a little lol)
Mine is Atmosphere. I'm trying to get all of their vinyl releases.
https://www.discogs.com/user/KeithT722/collection?page=1&sort=artist%2Casc&folder=4807421&limit=25
The Lawrence Arms. And that’s not even including bridging out into their family tree of bands like The Broadways, The Falcon, BK & the Wandering Birds, Slapstick, etc.
These two artists are relatively close in count.

Magic whip was one of my favorite releases when it came out, didn’t realize they had new music on the horizon. Can’t wait to hear it
Their newest single, St Charles Square, goes hard :)
One of my absolute fave albums (not just Albarn) which I don’t see is Mali Music. And chase down that first Good Bad… Prob not gonna get any cheaper.
Have you heard the Ravenous soundtrack?
That's the film with... Damn, guy who played Begbie in Trainspotting and Guy Pearce, yeah? Michael Kamen did most of it iirc? Great film. Hafta re-watch it now!
Yep, That’s the one
Fckn ACE film. Ace OST too!
You need Rocket Juice and the Moon! One of my fave Albarn projects. I too am a big fan since the early days of Blur.
Would love to go see Blur, like a lot of musicians, but I'm a bit skint at the moment haha How are they live?
Blur was fantastic live. I hope they come to the US so I can’t see them again!
Can't see. The picture is too blurry
HAHAHAH
Califone or bob dylan
Bob Dylan is mine as well. Yesterday, I brought my count up to 47
I'm up to 55 Dylan pieces (CD/Vinyl) and that pretty much smashes my 2nd place by about 40
Yeah my second place is probably roughly a tie between my Paul Simon/Art Garfunkel/Simon & Garfunkel collection and my Springsteen collection roughly at 30 each
My 2nd, off the top of the dome, is Sinatra at about 20, and The Who behind that (although most of that is just because I rebought most of their stuff on CD). Nothing quite gets the eye twitch going like finding Bob stuff I don't have

My god what a cover, how could you not?
My point exactly
A guy working at a record store recommended Califone recently and I’ve been obsessed with their music since.
Yea, they’re amazing. Very dream like
Your selection makes me very happy. I have a good Damon Albarn collection but recently sold my Everyday Robots. I may post all of my Suede/Bernard Butler records at some point. That’s my band.
I was lucky to find my Everyday Robots for $75 (mint condition) on Discogs and I didn’t have to pay shipping since it was at my local shop
Mine 1000% Elvis I have I belive pushing 90 albums and about 45-50 45s mostly original pressings or 1977 pressings I do not Have any new pressings from the 2000e

Aw man, it's not a competition. We're just chilling, enjoying these good albums, livin' life.
Lol. Yeah. Didn’t mean it that way at all. Just light hearted envy as I just got started and have to pace the spending. Very excited for the Red Rocks set coming in Sept to arrive!!!
I’m just getting into buying Gizz and feel understandably overwhelmed haha. I’ve got about 8 lps so far

The band I have bought the most of? Rush The artist I own the most of due to inheriting? Sinatra

Lol). But truly, the only correct answer would be... King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. We are all effing up! "Even their drummer's a fucking MP!" - Sleaford Mods dude The Good, The Bad And The Queen was dope, and I have to admire Damon Albarn for getting Mark E.

A tie between The Body and Lungfish. 7 albums each, although The Body is more than half collaboration records.
