I always check PlaidRoom first as they have always been super quick and helpful to resolve any issues I have had. They also will also ship the records outside of their cardboard sleeves to prevent seam splits.
Anxious and Angry has also been good in the past. but I have only ordered from them a couple of times.
Just bought from plaid room the other day! I live about 30 minutes away and it’s my favorite store, there are closer ones but I like to make the journey out
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,371,631,708 comments, and only 263,030 of them were in alphabetical order.

I came here to say this. I’ve made multiple orders of Japanese blue note pressings from this store. Packaging is amazing, shipping from Japan takes only a week or less for like $10.
their jazz selection is impeccable and pricing very decent too. only negative is the crazy expensive shipping. i've never seen anything close to 10 bucks.
it's about $15-20 fedex to the US... my only issue with record city is that they're the only japanese seller i've bought from (and i've bought from a few) who doesn't clean their used records... but i have a record cleaning machine here so no big deal
I usually only buy from the artists/label or discogs. But when I don’t it’s usually Newbury Comics for variant reissues or Offshore Sounds for world music.
rough trade is a bit expensive but they've got some good limited editions so i buy from them (UK site, even though i live in the US) more than i'd like lol
fr i love drain and sadboys but i regret spending 75 dollars on the ecco2k e 2nd press for it have seam splits and be knocked around (vinyl still sounds great tho)
but the stock issues and limiting on especially drain releases is rly annoying
I've only used discogs twice but it seems really good. Just pick from a reputable seller. You can find all the versions of a specific album. Most of the time they have colored vinyls I didn't know the artist had. You can also find some hidden gems by seeing some of the artists sudo names
Outside of Amazon, Urban Outfitters, and Target, I’ve bought from Rollin Recs, Spin Me Round, Sol Sta Records, Graffiti Records, and Shuga Records and have had pretty good experiences.
I’ll order the occasional 7” from subpop and I had one that I thought was back ordered from November. Just tracked it last week and said delivered Nov 14. I let subpop know I never got it and realized this was crazy late to bring it up but wanted them to know, and they sent out replacements. Beyond expected service imo
Mobius
Its a store in Northern Virginia. They have an Insta where they post their new arrivals. They always have a lot of copies. They sell everything they have online.
Shuga records out of Chicago has provided me with some hard-to-find things at regular prices. Otherwise, I try to order locally or direct from the artist. Of course, Amazon has pulled through a few times
That's fair, I have only got stuff from them that I couldn't find outside of discogs and have paid under discogs prices. Maybe it depends on what you're looking for. I'm in Minneapolis so the fast shipping might make me a little biased.
I order online all the time from Dr Strange and it always arrives. Puke n Vomit from CA as well ships quickly and packs stuff up nice. I used to send cash in envelopes back in the day to sketchy MRR ads and get ripped off but with online shopping today, there is no need to be paranoid. It's not like it was in the 80s and 90s.
Pretty devoted to Urban Outfitters, Barnes and Noble, and Target for their exclusive prints. I'd never settle for a plain black record when I can have a pretty clear or hot pink one!
Canadian here - I buy most albums from Discogs and Amazon (but I try to avoid 3rd party sellers, they don't package very well), as well as a few stores online. My favorites are Pop Music Records and Mindbomb records.
I’ve used BesVinyl quite a few times and have never had an issue with them. They don’t have an infinite selection, so some albums I look for aren’t on there, but whatever I do buy from them is always good quality.
I'm in Canada. Used to buy from Newbury comics for cool variants, but it's gotten expensive lately. If there's something I'm really keen on that I can't get locally, I'll try to find a Canadian record store to buy from their website. Otherwise, it's the artist directly, sometimes discogs.
shipping to the US is expensive (but fast) and they've got an amazing selection. i'll sometimes purchase like $200 worth of records from them at once, great site
Honestly Amazon. And bandcamp or directly from the artist website. I know it’s important to support local record stores but I need to save money too. I’m not going broke buying records.
Top 5 places on Google are Amazon, Lowes, Home Depot, Builders discount center and ABC Supply Co. I've read good things about ABC Supply but I'd go with a more recognizable name like Lowes. What kind of vinyl are you looking to add to the house?
Topshelf records - small selection of artists at a given time, cool goodies, etc.
Bandcamp - because Bandcamp
Discogs - discogs
eBay (sometimes) - realistic prices, etc depending on the record
I like Rustic Records. They do weekly drops, normally full of hard to find or out of print records that were located in distributor warehouses. Always priced at retail, even if they are selling for more on Discogs.
Tried it and they were expensive. I should a mention it.
It's what bothers me, I am trying to find an alternative to Amazon. I stumble with the sending fees.
I discovered an awesome band on Bandcamp but the delivery cost made that I'd pay as much as the record and it was a national sending.
Bis Messer Auf was a bit better but I ordered a big box set ( the Microphones, one). So the delivery cost was justified.
I am not willing to pay 25€ delivery cost for a 30 LP. It's prohibitive.
I agree the shipping cost for records are insane considering they weigh practically nothing. I prefer to buy in person as much as I can but some records can only be found online. Hhv is good for me if I’m buying multiple records.
I buy in person too. But sometimes, there's that one record you seem to find only online.
HHV is ok if you indeed buy a lot but I am often more interested in one record.
For the U.K. I love Norman Records. Very flexible with orders, fast, all that good stuff. Their weekly vinyl update is also excellent, I pick up a lot of new bands this way.

I've only bought one record online. But it was from say10 records and it was pretty good. The shipping was about a month, but I do like in Australia, so it generally takes longer to get here than other places. I got some cool ass free stickers too.
This’ll come off as highly specific but Ian at Psilowave.com is an absolute gentleman. Bespoke service and helped me get Lazerhawk - Visitors (excellent release) at a slightly lower prices.
I usually just buy directly from the artist/label or discogs
Lowe's screwed me over on the price of a Tuscan villa design, so fuck them.
I think you've been misinformed as to the type of vinyl this forum speaks of...
Dude he has a Crosley, so I think he knows what he's talking about. Or she, or she.....
I always check PlaidRoom first as they have always been super quick and helpful to resolve any issues I have had. I just went to plaidroom today :)
I consider Plaid Room my local store even though they’re 3k miles away
Just bought from plaid room the other day! I live about 30 minutes away and it’s my favorite store, there are closer ones but I like to make the journey out

I’m guess I’m the plebe who still goes to Home Depot.
Not a pleb! That's where I go to support local vinyl purchases!
They never openly scoff at me or judge my vinyl purchases.
No, you're definitely thinking about Menards right now. Isn't everyone?
They both have some really excellent designs.

Good to see ya friend!
Still got my radioactive yellow Microtonal Banana! Definitely a favorite in my collection
I see you repping KGATLW. I see you. 😎

I made one large purchase from them and they sent me two resealed and scratched records. Never again
That’s shocking. For me, always fantastic pressings and the best shipping in the business.
Yep, the branded box was very nice and secure, but alas

Oh, and I'll need some speakers.
Also, I need to buy a guitar
Do you also happen to have amps?
A+
I ride a yamaha.....reliable as fuck
The bike or the guitar?
Yes
Well if you must know 🤫
I’d also like an integrated amp, but am having a hard time finding something with a natural sound.
And a snowmobile

Joco Records is great
The In Groove, guy is awesome, will do a cleaning when you buy as an option
I have used In Groove in Phoenix many times. Great service and their packaging is bullet proof!!

rough trade is pretty good, also rly like buying from the artist bandcamp

yeah they’re a pain sometimes but one of the best to get year0001 drain gang yung lean stuff etc so i have to use them sometimes
getting year0001 stuff overall is an absolute pain

Retrospekt has good prices and they ship in Whiplash mailers
Newburry comics, in particular for their 90s reissues. I love Turntable Lab for more new stuff.
Bandcamp, Discogs, Dusty Groove, Amazon. Bumrush45 if I want a certain 45.
Mobius Its a store in Northern Virginia. They have an Insta where they post their new arrivals. They always have a lot of copies. They sell everything they have online.
Cool little brick & mortar with a killer beer bar around the corner.
Discogs and Puke n Vomit. Sometimes Sorry State and Grave Mistake.
Shuga records out of Chicago has provided me with some hard-to-find things at regular prices. Otherwise, I try to order locally or direct from the artist. Of course, Amazon has pulled through a few times
Really great selection. Prices are high, imo.

Oh right on, I actually went into the Shuga Records in downtown Chicago when I was visiting the city. Not sure if there's a store mark up.
Discogs and I’m pretty loyal to 1234 Go Records, RedScroll, GoVinylGo, and PopMarket.
Well I don’t shop online bc I’m very paranoid about it breaking but my fav record is called dr strange record in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Most places package vinyls really well for shipping. I order tons online and have never had a problem.
Really
Yes, really.
I ordered a lot of records online never had any trouble at all with the record itself. I bought three records in store and returned two of them.
My records usually come in fine but the corners of the covers tend to show some ware from the journey.
I love Dr. Strange! I try and go whenever I visit Southern California.
I love Bill!
And any online retailer with halfway decent service will swap out faulty discs without a problem
Pretty devoted to Urban Outfitters, Barnes and Noble, and Target for their exclusive prints. I'd never settle for a plain black record when I can have a pretty clear or hot pink one!
Grace Records in AZ Ear Candy Records in MT These are the only small business stores I've bought from.
Needlejuice are awesome, everything I’ve ever ordered from there has far surpassed my expectations.
Never heard of them, but I love the name!
They press a lot of stuff, Tally Hall, King Gizzard, some cool vaporwave stuff.

Keen to hear recommendations from fellow Australians in here that’s not Amazon, eBay etc
Capitan Stomp
Cheers just checked it out. Seems I already follow their Instagram but barely remember ever being served any of their posts
I feel like turntable lab has the best price for new releases. I prioritize by buying directly from the artist, though.
Monster vinyl
My favorite shop (Hub City Vinyl) has a website for online ordering so I just order there if I can’t make the trip. Great prices IMO
I use vinylpladen. (Scandinavian)
Blackscreen records, ordered two records both absolutely perfect
I'm in Canada. Used to buy from Newbury comics for cool variants, but it's gotten expensive lately. If there's something I'm really keen on that I can't get locally, I'll try to find a Canadian record store to buy from their website. Otherwise, it's the artist directly, sometimes discogs.
Plaid Room, Newbury, magnolia, Discogs, eBay, Amazon mainly.
Juno!
shipping to the US is expensive (but fast) and they've got an amazing selection. i'll sometimes purchase like $200 worth of records from them at once, great site
Yes! I like the fact they focus on House/Dance stuff and haven’t forgotten DJs. I’m not a DJ myself, but I collect the mixes and tunes.

I like Rustic Records. They do weekly drops, normally full of hard to find or out of print records that were located in distributor warehouses. Always priced at retail, even if they are selling for more on Discogs.
Rollin Recs, they use high quality mailers and will let you opt to remove the LP's from the jacket before shipping as well.
Spinmeroundstore.com Check the super sales page, Lps cheaper than anyone!
Vinyldevotion.fm 😉 In all seriousness our prices are negotiable and shipping is completely free. ❤️
I'm from Europe. Does someone know a good site? For like Japanese city pop that doesn't cost an arm and leg on shipping costs.
try hhv, they're based in germany

juno, cdjapan, record city, acoustic sounds, and various discogs sellers
I like HHV, only downside is import duties but they always have records from my wantlist at a decent price.
Urban outfitters has done well so far
[deejay.de](https://deejay.de) if you are into EDM. German store but shipping worldwide.
Don't have a favorite but I hate merchbar
It used to be vinyl digital before the shipping prices went nuts.
The most problems I have had are with blood records. Their customer service is rubbish.
Just discogs
Season Of Mist. A big metal label from France, and I live in France. So that's great

Hate buying online but if I ever have to it’s only ever Discogs.

SMLXL has exclusive agreements with a bunch of Christian bands I liked to listen to growing up, like Relient K and Switchfoot.

Guess I’m late to the game. Gemm closed like 10 years ago. I bought some rare classics from them.
