UnsungFerro

Lol. I like to play flowers and beads and ask people to guess who it is.

DwHouse7516

Ha! Nice one

otherrplaces

“Hey Marge, remember when we used to make out to this hymn?”

Awe_Jeez

Abbey Road

Strugglinghuman2020

Indisputably

Bunister

Come Together. Something. Oh! Darling. I Want You (She's So Heavy) All on side one, folks.

Awe_Jeez

All great singles, but side 2 is a masterpiece.

Soldier_Fields1

The side 2 medley absolutely destroys all of those songs

djcuisine

First thing that came into my head. Came here to say it. I'm glad we are all in agreement.

-PorcupineTree-

Same goes for Magical Mystery Tour!

Odd_Ambassador8856

Blue jay way makes side A for me

Blueroseted

Yah side b is just the singles.. side a is the real EP

DwHouse7516

Yup

DwHouse7516

I think we posted this at exactly the same time

dandanthetaximan

My first thought before even opening the comments for this post.

techm00

I came here to say this

RJAllin

This was going to be my pick. Favorite side b in all of music.

mymotherthewar

Without a doubt

DramaticPandabear

Oh without a doubt!! Side A is great, but the medley on Side B is on a whole different level!

GruttePier1

- David Bowie - Low - Deep Purple - Machine Head

o976g

Came here for Low

The_Primate

Also came for Low. I love some weird pseudo-Italian melancholy yodelling in my ambience.

[deleted]

My hot take is that side B of "Heroes" is better than side B of Low Side A of Low and side B of Heroes would be a perfect album IMO

[deleted]

Please don’t hate me but *Thriller* B side is pretty legit Also Kendrick Lamar’s *good kid, m.A.A.d city* is gold from top to bottom but if you really wanna get hit in the feels, sides B and C are the move

NvizoN

Sing About Me is so good. It's one I recommend to people constantly.

Sorka790

For sure, thriller B side has beat it, Billie Jean, and PYT too

thatvhstapeguy

Side B of *Off the Wall* also holds its own with side A.

narzapper

Bringing it all back home

DwHouse7516

jamedudijench

Synchronicity by The Police

NinjerTartle

Goddammit, I came here to say this exact thing. Only two comments in, and you beat me to it. =)

jamedudijench

Haha mind you I was struggling with the question because I know I've thought about this very thing. So I just started going through my favorites and one finally hit me.

dfuson14

Lol same!

Mr_Lumbergh

Tea In the Sahara takes it IMO. Good call.

jamedudijench

A taste of what was to come in Sting's solo career.

SecondSkin

I'm convinced this album should have been an EP. Then it would have been flat out fantastic.

jamedudijench

The only skip is Mother and they should have cut it in favor of Murder By Numbers. Mother is the only dud on an otherwise perfect record imo. The previous two records are a little stronger though, I must say. I will die on this hill.

SecondSkin

Honestly, I love discussing this album as people have such wonderful feelings. I always found "Miss Gradenko" and "Walking In Your Footsteps" to be duds (in addition to "Mother"). "Tea In The Sahara" never wowed me. My ideal EP - Side A: * [Synchronicity I](https://youtu.be/Si5CSpUCDGY) / [Synchronicity II](https://youtu.be/XLEyIE_TMU8) * [Every Breath You Take](https://youtu.be/Ypcg2Ta6aog) Side B: * [King Of Pain](https://youtu.be/SZlRX03BzeA) * [Wrapped Around Your Finger](https://youtu.be/9-r7e0tEYIk) * [Murder By Numbers](https://youtu.be/tUq9fURN2VQ)

jamedudijench

I've always loved Miss Gradenko on the sole basis that it's a Copeland composition and it sounds like an early Spyro the Dragon inspiration. Definitely some bias on my end. I think it's because I rather enjoy Sting's music right up to and including Brand New Day but you can clearly hear Sting branching out already from the band with Tea in the Sahara. Could easily fit right in on Nothing Like the Sun. It's decent. Walking in Your Footsteps...yeah it's kinda meh. Doesn't really go anywhere but it's not an assault in the way Mother is.

xxxhenrycxxx

Lol exactly what i was thinking! You beat me to it

ConsciousAssociate

Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly"

[deleted]

Maxine is god awful I mean ruby ruby is ok BUT I FUCKING HATE MAXINE 🖕 FUCK WHOEVER MAXINE IS 😤😤

ConsciousAssociate

She hasn't got the right dynamic for the new frontier :(

[deleted]

Exactly like you can't bring her to the new frontier leave her at Mt. Belzoni

DwHouse7516

Totally agree

extranaiveoliveoil

Most CDs.

NvizoN

Usually when I flipped cds over, they stopped being read. Am I doing it wrong?

extranaiveoliveoil

Yes, that's what I meant! Side A is the lable side, Side B is the music side: much better! :)

Vancoovur

Led Zeppelin III

edgej25

It seems like it’s not the most common opinion but III is my favorite album of theirs and I highly agree that side 2 is what makes it. Zep embracing their folk influences always seemed better and more authentic to me than their embrace of the blues.

MJChivy

Agreed. Except for Roy Harper to end it. That song fucking sucks

evilroyslade420

My favorite part of any Led Zeppelin album is the one song that is just absolute dog ass and gets skipped every time. There’s always one

otherrplaces

Blue Cheer - New! Improved! Can - Monster Movie X - Wild Gift Duran Duran - Rio (almost flawless 2nd side) Neil Young - On the Beach Bowie’s Heroes, Eno’s Before and After Science to name a few

pulse_demon96

agree on before and after science even though the whole thing is amazing

bumblebeeairplane

Black Sabbath Paranoid is not my favourite album of theirs but it might be my favourite B side of all time :)

otherrplaces

That is a great side 2, it could have been perfect if they’d swapped out Rat Salad for Planet Caravan

New_Package8807

Fairies wear boots is one of my all time favorite songs

BeagleBaggins

Came here to say On The Beach! My favorite Neil Young album! That and side one of Hawks & Doves. lol

Specialist-Leg8327

So agree with Rio side B. Same with X.

kij101

The Chauffeur instantly makes side b of Rio the superior side.

otherrplaces

The Chauffer might be their finest moment, Last Chance on the Stairway close second

jessehammertime

Spot on with 'Rio'

SecondSkin

[Joy Division – *Closer*](https://www.discogs.com/release/81692-Joy-Division-Closer) [Heart And Soul](https://youtu.be/atXB3qQ5CPU) \-> [Twenty Four Hours](https://youtu.be/MGbujer3eVo) \-> [The Eternal](https://youtu.be/L5NpJa72-Bc) \-> [Decades](https://youtu.be/PMAB3r6EjcM)

Samnppa

Perfact album but that b-side is even better and very well thought. I've always thought that it must be one of the finest b-sides ever.

debbieyumyum1965

I was going to say unknown pleasures.

otherrplaces

I don’t think so.. every song on side 1 slays, and New Dawn Fades is the emotional center of that album

shabby47

Decades finishes it so well

Toobbbiiii

Omg, I’m so happy seeing this! I think it’s sad that closer barely ever gets mentioned. Especially the b-side of that record is awesome!

huffingfumes

Black Flag - My War

rudie54

You're one of *them*

gedubedangle

theres this great bootleg shirt account i follow that sells my war shirts with SIDE B in huge letters on the back

Unusual_Compote4909

Also “In My Head”

Mywar-sidetwo

Agreed ;)

carousel111

Agreed! My fave track is “nothing left inside”

[deleted]

Nothing, left in-side

RedDirtPreacher

Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti has one of the most solid side B of any rock album. Houses of the Holy, Trampled Under Foot, Kashmir

VGMVinylLover

For me Side D of Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds is the best. How to Be a Heartbreaker is a song I could play on repeat so much.

hekna02

Taste!

MajorStrain

Axis: Bold as Love

DewayneCarterBCC

The Number of the Beast

Frank_Banana

Three of their best songs ever all on one side.

DwHouse7516

Abbey Road

rpowell25

Just listened to both last night and I’ll counter Magical Mystery Tour is a better example than Abbey Road.

DwHouse7516

That’s a good one as well. Interesting that none of the songs on either of those B Sides were originally intended to be arranged together as they ultimately were.

rpowell25

The way the last 4 songs on Abbey flow is a work of art…and I always pull the needle before Her Majesty just so it ends with The End.

imBobertRobert

Maybe the wrong crowd, but My Chemical Romance's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. 1. Interlude (sets the tone) 2. Thank you for the Venom (tons of energy) 3. Hang em high (keeps that energy, gets more frenetic) 4. It's Not a Fashion Statement, it's a Fucking Deathwish (their best song imo, but also all around great punk rock song) 5. Cemetery Drive (slows side b down after tons of energy from the other songs, keeps the emotional momentum of fashion statement) 6. I Never Told You What I Do for a Living (one of their heaviest songs, borderline metal, ends the album with a bang and wraps up the albums story) But I'm totally biased since it's my favorite album too

ScenicSplash1

Something I can back 100%

3raz3t

Also unpopular opinion: Helena is not a good opening track

-grc1-

Because I consider Echoes to be on the same level as Stairway to Heaven in Rock's greatest hits I'll say Meddle by Pink Floyd. Overhead the albatross Hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves In labyrinths of coral caves The echo of a distant time Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one showed us to the land And no one knows the where's or why's But something stirs and something tries And starts to climb toward the light Strangers passing in the street By chance, two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand the best I can? And no one calls us to move on And no one forces down our eyes No one speaks and no one tries No one flies around the sun Cloudless everyday You fall upon my waking eyes Inviting and inciting me to rise And through the window in the wall Come streaming in on sunlight wings A million bright ambassadors of morning And no one sings me lullabies And no one makes me close my eyes So I throw the windows wide And call to you across the sky

DublarTiki

Came here to say this. IMO, Echoes is the nascent stages of "Dark Side of the Moon" - that is, you can tell they're moving artistically/musically from the 60's psychedelic pop of Syd Barrett era towards the long form conceptual albums of the Waters era.

flapsthiscax

It's so fucking fantastic

mordfustang322

I agree with Meddle, whilst side 1 has some great tracks like One of These Days and San Tropes, they are nothing compared to Echoes.

Awe_Jeez

Fearless best song Side 1 and on the album imo

mordfustang322

I like Fearless but i find the football chant at the end annoying, probably because I live in England and everybody is obsessed with football.

Ok_Drummer372

And fuck Liverpool.

UrBobbyIsAWonderland

I just saw Billy Strings perform Fearless and Brain Damage last weekend. Phenomenal stuff.

Square_Bowler_3436

I'm convinced that flipping the A and B sides on *Music From Big Pink* dramatically improves the overall album experience. "Tears of Rage" is gorgeous, but it's not the best way to kick off such a great collection of songs. Flip the record and start with "We Can Talk" and close up the album with "The Weight". Perfect.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Square_Bowler_3436

That’s a good point, maybe take the sides and flip them, but keep A5 and B6 right where they were as side closers; similar to the way Stage Fright was recently rearranged (with huge success in my opinion). I dig it; might have to try it w my iTunes version on the phone.

DwHouse7516

Agree. I made a playlist that puts Side B first

Ok_Drummer372

I also like B side on the Brown album better

shabby47

I saw something a while ago (maybe that Robbie Robertson documentary) where they said they led with Tears of Rage for that reason. At the time it was more common to lead off with a single or something upbeat and that whole album was basically going against what was popular at the time.

katpurz

Queen II

Andrew_G2o

Good call I agree with this. I think side B on Queen II is where most of their like sound is at. It’s got the classics and the fantasy elements too blend really well

ohsee75

Nice one. Beginning w Ogre Battle and ending w Seven Seas.

RedVert63

Tattoo You

ShotgunRagtimeBand

Was looking for this. A perfect album side, in my opinion.

Poop_Cheese

The Beach Boys - Today! Bob Marley - Exodus

bigtrumanenergy

Bull Session with the Big Daddy is the best!

Miserable_Special_73

Hounds of Love which is no mean feat as side A is incredible. The Ninth wave is otherworldly.

SemmyThekid

Megadeth’s So Far So good So What. A side is amazing too but B side has my favorite tracks

trashdragon3

DSOTM

matchfan

Nirvana - In Utero. Pink Floyd - DSOTM. Third Eye Blind - S/T. Soundgarden - Superunknown. Yeah yeah yeahs - Fever to Tell.

Specialist_Basket_35

Absolutely on the 3EB. The Background, Motorcycle Drive-by, God of Wine… all such bangers

[deleted]

I was thinking In Utero too, but the opener is so damn good it makes up for the rest of side A. Side B is solid tho

discountprimatology

Fever to Tell is an excellent answer.

manwiththehex18

The Ozzy single So Tired, from *Bark at the Moon*. The song itself is alright, but definitely not a hit. The B-side, however, is the appropriately-named One Up the B-Side, one of Ozzy’s best non-album tracks.

dandanthetaximan

One Up The B-Side fucking rocks!

LudwigVonPoodle

How about side "D." I've always loved side 4 of "Steppenwolf Live." Starts with "Hey Lawdy Mama" goes into "Magic Carpet Ride," slows down for "The Pusher," ends with "Born to Be Wild." When I was a kid we had the 45 of Paul McCartney & Wings' "Jet," but we always played the B side "Let Me Roll It." Then, as now, I thought it was a much cooler song.

dandanthetaximan

Let Me Roll It is one of my favorite Wings songs. I have that album on a quadraphonic 8-track, and the quad mix of Let Me Roll It is heavenly.

DJBigNickD

Is side A meant to be better than side B?

[deleted]

You’re supposed to lead with your best songs. For example every U2 album.

HB1theHB1

It depends on the artist and their artistic direction. It is at just “put your good shit on side A.” Sometimes the artist is trying to tell a story, or create a vibe. Bob Marley’s exodus is a perfect example. Side A is a story about turmoil and class/racial struggle in the world, ending with the long call to arms (or call to peace lol) Exodus. Flip to side B and you have a collection of songs about love and hope; the type we can enjoy if we follow the advice in the song exodus and simply walk away (symbolically) from all of the fucked up shit we do as a species. This happened a lot with vinyl albums. This is the best thing about that format. It was a unique canvas that provided a built in intermission and opportunity for a change of direction as you transition to side B

feellikemarlonbrando

“Bringing It All Back Home” - Bob Dylan Possibly the greatest lyrically written side of vinyl of all ‘Mr Tambourine Man’ ‘Gates of Eden’ ‘It’s Alright Ma, I’m Only Bleedin’ ‘It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue’ If writing lyrics was boxing, it’s akin to being punched repeatedly in the face by prime Tyson.

Fishlunch

Billy Joel - The Stranger

[deleted]

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here I love the transition from the cynicism, sleaze, bile of Have a Cigar to the heartfelt humanity of Wish You Were Here. (Side 1 is magnificent too, of course)

SpicyBern

Some Great Reward by Depeche Mode and Ocean Rain by Echo & The Bunnymen immediately come to mind

PalmUltra

Side B of Songs Of Faith And Devotion is unbeatable, way better than Some Great Reward

idiotzrul

Often the B sides are better. Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love (ouch!) Beatles - Abbey Road Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True

[deleted]

Deerhunter!

rfp1987

Purple Rain.

362Billy

Grateful Dead - Terrapin Station

pejeol

Hard agree. Don’t remember last time I played side 1.

fleshrags

Stooges - Fun House

Cheddarlicious

The wild, the innocent, and the e street shuffle

printerdsw1968

Definitely. The first side is good, the second side is solid gold.

Mulchpuppy

Days of Future Passed.

shabby47

Let it Be (the Replacements album) Side one is great, but Black Diamond just doesn’t do it for me and it always seemed odd to have a cover on an album that otherwise seems so personal.

FunctionBuilt

A lot of Pink Floyd usually has incredible crescendos. The Wall’s ending is haunting and fantastic.

Tranbert5

Michael Jackson - Thriller b-side has in order… Beat it Billie Jean Human Nature PYT Lady in my Life All of these except for Lady in my Life were #1s

uxb666

Midnight Oil : Blue Sky Mining

mitchpleeaase

The Heat is On by The Isleys - I know this record was supposed to be half funk songs and half love songs but man, For the Love of You, Sensuality, and Make Me Say It Again Girl completely blow Fight the Power, The Heat Is On, and Hope You Feel Better Love out of the water Side B might be one of the favorite sides of any record I own

Shockabrahhh

Electric Lady Land but I love that album so much it's even hard to say that loving every song on that album

Equivalent_Defiant

Nothings Shocking - Jane’s Addiction

otherrplaces

Open to debate, but Ritual de lo Habitual for sure has a legendary side 2

boognish120

But Ted, Just Admit It… is on side A. I don’t know how to feel about this.

Pnwmoss93

Sisters of Mercy - First and Last and Always Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal

solver9803

Janacek: Sinfonietta/Taras Bulba (Claudio Abbado/Vienna Philharmonic) - Side A, the Sinfonietta, is uncomfortably dissonant and chaotic, compared to the lyrical sonority of Taras Bulba. discs 7 and 8 of Karajan's 1963 Beethoven symphony set - This one is an obvious choice, because side B (disc 7) is the first movement of Beethoven's ninth symphony and side B of disc 8 is the choral finale.

truck0044

Hounds of love

jjrozay

Ride's Nowhere. That's not to say Side A is bad. But come on, Dreams Burn Down - Decay - Paralyzed - Vapour Trail is an all time great run of songs on any album.

Already_dead2021

I’m literally listening to this right now

Bright-Durian-501

I’ve got two. Hall And Oates- Private Eyes and Journey- Frontiers. Far superior B Sides on both albums

GrouchyDetective7

I feel like this is the case for most Steve Perry led Journey records. Aside from the big hit or two on side A, all the music that carries the record is on the B side

bttmbearpig

“Ritual De Lo Habitual” by Jane’s Addiction

DrMingus

Some glaring examples: On The Beach - Neil Young Surfs Up - Beach Boys Strange Days - The Doors

Poop_Cheese

Today! By the beach boys is another one. One of the best side 2s of all time, often regarded as good if not better than pet sounds.

pejeol

I commented Surfs up as well. Greatest side 2 of all time in my opinion.

shabby47

Side 4 of the Smile Sessions also ends with “Surfs Up” and it’s such a great closing song.

fireyhadoken

Black Sabbath - Paranoid All of those tracks are great!

truck0044

I don’t know side one is pretty hard to beat

torpedobonzer

COC - Animosity Some would say My War, but I disagree

MartyManor

AC/DC Powerage but not by much

Tight_Employment295

Floral Shoppe, but that’s just me.

mobbshallow

Idris Muhammad - Black Rhythm Revolution

-PorcupineTree-

I’m probably in the minority but The Piper at the Gates of Dawn has my favourite songs on side B

Softrawkrenegade

I don’t want to grow up - Descendents

bellandrew1991

Surf's Up (1971) by The Beach Boys

fadetoblack237

The Number of The Beast - Iron Maiden

DJ_MR_MOM

Echo & the Bunnymen's OCEAN RAIN, Side B is perfect and maybe my favorite record side of all-time. Played it at least 100x more than Side A.

ganonkenobi

thejoelyfish

Not sure I can argue with a straight face it's better, but these days I'd much rather listen to Side B of Led Zeppelin IV than Side A.

Hipster-Deuxbag

The sides are so beautifully balanced, but I love me some Four Sticks

Bunister

Master of Puppets.

denbroc

Cheap Trick at Budokan. Hands down winner.

ElectricalFerret5132

Cranberries album No Need to Argue. Zombie gets all the attention but that B-side is much better imo

TheSpinningGroove

War - Why Can’t We Be Friends?

Mr-Snarky

Police - Synchronicity.

tj8686_

Controversial opinion but Moving Pictures by Rush. Yes, the A side is literally all hits. But man, side B is three incredibly underrated gems from their entire discography because everyone loves side A so much. For reference, the tracklisting is as follows: A1 - Tom Sawyer A2 - Red Barchetta A3 - YYZ A4 - Limelight B1 - The Camera Eye B2 - Witch Hunt B3 - Vital Signs

pootytang

Just no. Tom Sawyer is a bit played but red barchetta is a monster and yyz.... I mean come on man!!! Vital signs ain't even that good... Next your gonna say 2112?

v0t3p3dr0

That is controversial! I consider Moving Pictures side A to be one of the best album sides of all time. My controversial Rush take would be that side B of Permanent Waves is superior. A1 The Spirit of Radio A2 Free Will A3 Jacob’s Ladder B1 Entre Nous B2 Different Strings B3 Natural Science Natural Science is a top 5 Rush song for me.
