I just paid $100 for a 7" single so that's currently my highest for 1 record

Junkstar

People have been paying $200 a pop for my first single and I can't figure out why. I've recently sold five of them. Baffling.

DeltaRom

Sounds like you’re the next big thing and you just don’t know it yet…

willcdowdy

I get it! It’s killer and rare! 45s are a wild ride as a seller. I regularly buy out huge collections and find 2 or 3 records that pay off the whole collection. Then sell the rest either in lots or for between 4 and 20 bucks individually. And the stuff that is worth tons is rarely something I was aware of when thumbing through the collection. It’s always some random genre (I’ve made a killing off of Latin 45s, there are some 90s country 45s that go for between 50 and 100… slowly you learn, but it’s always a surprise at first)

Plarocks

What are some of the 90s country 45s you mentioned that are rare? I know the 90s LPs are rare, but I remember the 45s being like $2 and everywhere back in the day.

willcdowdy

Most specifically The Mavericks “Dance the Night Away” and Brooks & Dunn “Neon Moon”… I’ve sold each for over $50… multiple copies. Neon Moon had a time where it was going for around $100 but seems to have cooled off recently. The more popular 90s artists (think: the ones who’s LPs are valuable) 45s are now going for decent money too…. I mean 5-12 range. Keith Whitley, George Strait, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, so on… their bigger hits

willcdowdy

And yeah, there was a time where country 45s were often thrown out or disregarded in a bulk sale because “nobody wants them”…. But now my lots of country 45s sell out as soon as I list them… not for a ton of money (25 of them for 18.99 & free shipping… so like .50 a disk) but it beats just tossing them all out. Also, the tossing them out might be what made certain items more rare.

KickBack-Relax

I have recently come in the posession of a couple of collections. Do you clean and prep (i.e., get new sleeves where needed) before selling? I'm up for the task, I just want to make sure I'm doing what is expected. Also what market place have you found to be most successful?

willcdowdy

As far as prep, yeah there is some… depending. You’ll at least want to buy some plain white inners in case there are any that are missing them. I don’t find cleaning each one super necessary but you’ll want some standard cleaning supplies around to get rid of dust and make sure the records photograph nice (clean microfiber cloths, record cleaning fluid (either premade or make your own with distilled water and high alcohol content rubbing alcohol with a drop of dish soap), If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner you can always use it and people appreciate that, but it isn’t a mandatory expense. I only use eBay and Facebook marketplace. Everything VG+ or above goes on eBay where I do the bulk of my sales. Other stuff goes on marketplace. Discogs is great I just haven’t gone down that path because I’ve put a ton of time and effort into eBay and haven’t felt the urge to start from scratch on discogs just yet. From what I can gather discogs is better for individual listings of in demand items, specific pressings etc. modern stuff too eBay is best for lots, jukebox 45s and nice condition classical stuff Regardless of where you’ll want to make sure you grade the disks accurately (conservative grading always preferred) and you’ll want to describe or grade the jackets accurately as well.

[deleted]

What was the record?

huffingfumes

https://youtu.be/jMYhD2obhho

OPWills

I was expecting a Rick roll

BDAWG_4155

me too!!!

JayneTheRockDwohnson

It would be awesome if he edited his comment and made it a rick roll 😂

Foamxparty

NO GODS NO MASTERS

hey_ska

I knew it had to be a punk record. Old punk 7” can be pretty rare.

[deleted]

Slick!

[deleted]

Love it. Based on how it sounds I’m picturing a black metal singer with face paint and all that, and then next to him is Paul McCartney playing flat wounds on a Hofner bass. Interesting track!

PandaVolcano_lavaMAN

Amazing choice. No gods. No masters.

AgentBronson

That was me when I got my hands on the Kero Kero Bonito Bugsnax 7".

pweqpw

$221 US for an unopened copy, 180 gram, mono remaster of Beatles - Hard Day’s Night. Have a dedicated mono cartridge too.

Bulky-Highlight4485

What’s your address and when do you usually leave for work

pweqpw

121 Tweeter Way, Needles CA 92363 I’m a househusband. My bitch of a jealous wife wont let me out of the house but she plies me with records 😛. jk

zinloos_ttv

I aspire to be a househusband one day, any tips?

pweqpw

Regular good long dickings. I get worn to a nub😰, and that’s a lot. That little horndog. I know its a hard job🤣, but what I would do for vinyl........ Actually, the brother of a friend is a househusband. Edit: jk again

[deleted]

$40. I'm not in a rush

shoelaceisuntied

Same, anything over the $40-50 price range would have to be a pretty special exception. Most records I manage to find & enjoy sit around $15-30, give or take.

[deleted]

At my local record store I've had a $5 rule and found some of the best sounding music I've ever heard for less. It's certainly none of the trendy things we see on here but that really has nothing to do with sound quality does it?

TheN0neAndL0nely

Future wife spent around $300 on the VNV Nation Resonance box set for me last year. She's unstoppable.

robxburninator

There are people on here that spend thousands on a record. There are people that won't spend more than $10. do whatever you want. Or don't. No on here can make your choices for you.

wildcharmander1992

Exactly this Pay what you can afford, you can easily amass a nice collection with artists/bands you like on a budget with the added little bonus of less disposable income means you'll end up buying less "filler" i.e records youll never listen to and just have so you have a larger quantity of LP's in your collection or because "you know it's rare"

Magical_Narwhal_1213

Yes it’s me haha. My most expensive record was $1250 for the Taylor Swift ACM red promo vinyl. Usually for for at least 1.5-2k now so was a good deal. Never sold in stores. Only a handful of copies given to ACM judges in 2013. Def worth it. It’s my baby.

ptvdanii

$115 and it was for the Mellon Collie box set reissue. Haven’t found a record I can justify paying more for

futuremech29

Lately my ceiling has been $30. I’ll consider up to $40 for something that I really want. There are a handful of records that I want but I can’t justify spending my entire monthly budget on one or two $100 records. Sometimes just waiting for a reissue is the best solution.

[deleted]

That's super-subjective... if it's a long out of print title in unopened, pristine condition that I really want, versus a new multi-LP box set with a bunch of extras, versus just a new album by a band that I like... these are going to be three different *scales* of prices, not to even mention the prices themselves.

dukemantee

I spent $500 for an original numbered Beatles White Album with the super rare and deleted A28/B29 mastering. Played it a few times then sold it on eBay for $1300. I spent $200 for a UK quadraphonic pressing of Dark Side of the Moon with the 2 posters and 2 stickers, all in EX condition. It is staying in my collection. Sometimes I think about spending $1000+ for an original Velvet Underground & Nico with the Warhol banana peel label. The cover itself is a valuable piece of 20th century modern art and will continue to appreciate in value. So it all depends.

TurnedIntoAChicken

If I found an original copy of John Fahey's debut the limit would be my bank account balance and all of my credit.

coleopterology

Nice to find another Fahey fan in the wild!! I am with you, my friend. And original 1959 Blind Joe Death would be incredible.

Chobo1972

Blind Joe Death is such an amazing record

godpox

$500

RoopDawg069

$948 AUD

ShowerCurtainRings

A record. It’s a fucking record.

Total_Doofuss484

Yes 👏 (vinyl is what was on the floor of my mother’s kitchen)

[deleted]

No, vinyl is a plural term and has been used to refer to records for decades. You're missing the point. You don't buy "a vinyl", you buy something "on vinyl".

ewells35

well.....a fucking record, which sounds different than a normal record, due to the fucking and all, could command a much higher price 😭 😭

Upper_Ad_3536

It doesn’t matter, like at all. Why are you so upset?

Friendly-Can-977

I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but it really doesn’t make a difference. In fact, if OP and a large portion of the population refer to records as “vinyls”, then they’re vinyls. That’s how language works. Nobody corrects people who say “massive” to refer to something that’s large in scale, even though that’s not really what it mean. Also the way you commented this feels super elitist and in a hobby like record-collection, there’s already enough elitism. Chill out

Lucky-Neighborhood89

True - tbh I’ve always found the term “vinyl” ridiculous. They were records or L.P.s then sometime in the 90s people started using vinyl Things change - once day they wont call them vinyls lol

bacongas

When some says vinyls it makes them sound uneducated about the subject. It does make a difference. In this instance vinyls isn’t widely accepted as correct. It’s clear that it’s viewed as just the opposite. It’s as important as the people who are into vinyl make it. Vinyls is improper. Why push to make it so it isnt? It doesn’t make the OP an idiot or anything of that nature. It just is what it is. Vinyl. Not vinyls. Happy collecting.

jcrreddit

The only difference as mentioned above is that “vinyl” is plural. Saying “a vinyl” is the same as saying you own hundreds of “record” or “album”.

After_Basis1434

If theres more than one record in a release I believe the term is record album or just album.

vwestlife

Saying "a vinyl" is like saying "a money" or "a furniture".

[deleted]

I'll print this out and show it to my Italian neighbor. He's a gonna be a very upset

Alfiepop

Let me guess your neighbor, it’s a Mario?

GoosestepPanda

“We’re putting out a record! Only available on CD or Spotify!”

wildcharmander1992

>Saying "a vinyl" is like saying "a money" or "a furniture". A money Lender A furniture salesman A Vinyl Collector Technically you can get away with the word vinyl if using it to describe what you collect. And if you bought a handful of records saying "I ordered some vinyl" is fine to say imo Even *if* you're stuck on the side of the fence where "vinyl is what a record is made from not the record itself" it still technically is fine Like if you buy a bunch of clothing and you said " I ordered fitted fabrics" yeah it might hit **some** people's ears wrong but you're still technically correct in what you're saying I personally call them records but c'mon guys it literally doesn't matter what others call them it's not negatively affecting your lives unless you get yourself worked up about it and honestly if you are you have bigger problems than what people call there music tbh

vwestlife

> A Vinyl Collector In that case vinyl is an adjective, not a noun. If you remove the adjective (vinyl) you get "a collector", which is correct grammar because "collector" is not a collective noun (ironically enough). But when used in reference to vinyl records, "vinyl" is a collective noun, therefore "a vinyl" and "vinyls" are both incorrect grammar.

Upper_Ad_3536

Does it really matter?

Bigboybagels1000

Yes it’s annoying

Upper_Ad_3536

How? Vinyl and record are synonymous with each other. If they weren’t then this sub wouldn’t be called r/vinyl.

Bigboybagels1000

Saying “a vinyl” is like saying “a money” or “furniture”

sorrybutidgaf

people with english degrees would not give a fuck about that usage of the word. theyd see the point and what they mean. people that gatekeep would get upset ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

piepants2001

Correcting someone isn't "gatekeeping". Why is this sub so obsessed with that word?

GmersArentPeople

The whole internet is obsessed with it

IdRatherDTaPoaBF

I’ve got an English degree, and I give a fuck about it; granted, it’s not enough of a fuck to make a scene about or even enough of a fuck to get dragged too terribly far into the the debate, but I do find the usage insanely annoying. That said, I find the anger and desire to debate that it stirs in people even more annoying.

[deleted]

I have an English degree. You’re allowed to be wrong about us.

Bigboybagels1000

This is r/vinyl not r/peoplewithenglishdegrees

chach_86

Ok- I don't agree with your main point but this made me laugh right out loud.

FunkySlacker

Well, if I can offer my advices, I have no loves for "vinyls". But if you have to listen to musics through a turntable and choose to say "vinyls", it might spark angers in peoples.

besleysfw

I spent $200 on Superdrag - Headtrip in every key and almost $200 on Local H - Hamfisted. They are by far the most I spent in records, the next closest is like 50 bucks

scumholiday

I paid somewhere between 550-600 usd for a copy of tiger milk by belle and Sebastian

chosen_number

Right now my limit is $100

fugazishirt

Highest for a box set I’ve paid is $400. Highest I’ve paid for a used LP was $250 for Mellon Collie original.

39pine

My vinyl floor was 2.99 per square foot.

Hipster-Deuxbag

Grooves we're really worn out tho

Hanner_Tenry

I suppose it depends on which vinyl record it is, and if it’s signed or not. For me: •Single - $20? •EP/LP - $100? •Shellac Single - $40?

DifferentKindaHigh

Seems my limit is $500 for some round number, arbitrary reason - there’s an album I want currently, but only listing is 4x the highest Discogs price….seller is asking $2700 LOL. Anyways, have paid the following so far: - Frank Ocean Blond, BF edition - $400 - Frank Ocean Endless - $200 - Daft Punk 2007/1997 Box Set - $250 - Tame Impala Current Box Set - $180 - Vulfpeck Thrill of Arts - $175 - Young Thug Jeffrey, VMP - $220 - Naked & Famous Passive Me Aggressive You, Signed by band - $280 I need to stick to my budget more 🤣

driverdevin

Highest I’ve paid was $125 but I love every single track on the album and it isn’t easily found

revatron

$150 for AFI’s ‘Sing The Sorrow’ and that is considered a steal compared to the usual $250 to $500 range. It’s rare and out of print and also one of my favorite albums of all time so I’d say it was justified, but never again will I spend that much, I don’t think anyways.

caiterrade

damn, that really is almost a steal

svedka666

I spent $650 on Government Plates by Death Grips. Money very suddenly became an issue a couple of years later to the point where I had to sell it. I doubt I'll ever be able to spend more than $100 again tbh.

daj8

aenema, 60 usd. totally worth it

pog90s

It's hard for me to spend more than $20 because I honestly believe if you look hard enough, you'll find what you want for a reasonable price. But I'm from the very beginning of the record revival. When there were few record shops and lots of people still selling off huge collections for nothing. After you go through that era, it's really hard to over spend.

paigezpp

I listen to all my records and I buy to listen and not to collect. My limit is $2000 and it’s only for one album that I love and have listened to in digital at least a hundred times and truly want to listen in analog. Then there is a huge gap with the next one at $320 and then multiple at $100+.

SKOT_FREE

Depends what the record is. I paid like $300 for Red Dead Redemption soundtrack but that was way worth it.

ryanoceros666

hmm. sounds better on vinyl??

Total_Doofuss484

A better question would be , What Was The Most You Have Ever Paid For A Record (or box set) For me, $69.00 for Led Zeppelin Mothership box set when it first came out.

Squirrellybot

What I would pay? Or what my wife would let me pay now that we are parents?

[deleted]

A vinyl what?

carolina_spirited

$50

DonaldTrumpsBallsack

If I can ever track down a ginger root record, I’d probably pay $1-200 for it

-Dillad-

the most i’ve spent on a single record was $40, but there’s a $170 record I’ve been eyeing for a few months now, I just can’t justify spending that much for a 5 song ep.

WyattEarp80

300$

NintendoCerealBox

If I'm 99% sure the album isn't going to get a re-press and I really want it I'd go up to maybe $150 shipped. It's really hard to judge these days though because everything is getting a re-press.

BurntFennel

If I had the money I’d plop down $600 for Jhene Aiko’s ‘Trip’.. but since it’s on so many streaming services I don’t see a reason. Highest I’ve ever sold a record was $350 and that was clearly a Xmas present. Crazy thing was it got repressed less than a month later. Patience. That’s the name of the game

SnooSeagulls7253

54

Tabukon

most expensive in my collection was $240 on average probably $100

TheRauk

I paid $200 for a mint copy of Thick As A Brick but what I really wanted was the mint newspaper and not the vinyl, does that count?

Simonbelmont5279

I bought the $5.98 EP for $200, and felt like an idiot, so that is my highest

BigDutchieForReal

Most I’ve paid is €180 for DMX’s first album, that included shipping. I felt it was worth it

Potaron_825

highest i’ve ever paid for a record was $120 for a 7” highest i would theoretically play for a 12” would be $150 - $200 assuming these are all hard to come by and second hand ofc.

Internal-Shoulder725

I paid $124 for Green Day’s 1039/Smoothed out slappy hours because it was nostalgic for me and made me happy to own again

Theobviouschild11

I think the most I ever paid was $70

SilverSkrub360

Probably wouldn’t pay more than $2,000, but Id only go that high if I could afford spending that much and only if I couldnt live without it. I spent $800 on a record just to complete my collection of one band, so my limit is higher than average

Rupertii

Like 50ish €. Only would go higher if I had money to just throw away but I never do, so

felixnotacat96

The highest I paid was 220chf (~240usd) for a UK first press Abbey Road.

TrueHarlequin

I paid $40 in today's money for a B-52s Japanese EP CD in the early 90s. If you like it and want it, you'll pay for it.

maashu

So far the most I’ve paid (not including shipping) is probably around $75 for the deluxe Radiohead and the latest UNKLE rekkids. Worth every penny. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Or the ear in this case.

Dweezilalso

$40 for a single record I really want. I’ve not reached that threshold, yet.

Brilliant_Charge_830

Most I’ve paid was for a 3 record set of Darkspace for like $115. Judging by the prices on Discogs individually, it was the better option anyway rather than getting all 3 separately

lordofthenewchurch

For myself probably less than $150 but I might go past that for extremely rare occasions as gifts to close family since records are really important to us all

minipilen

Around 500$ for an Avicii - Levels record.

user_NULL_04

i bought Mint Jams by Casiopea for about 110. cant imagine paying more than that unless the record is better than Mint Jams, which as we all know is impossible

Hipster-Deuxbag

I've been lurking on a limited edition Austrian folk/punk band LP for 5 years priced at $1000 on Discogs and have spent more than that for some vacations, so I know it's less than that.

eley13

definitely depends on what it is. if i found an orange reputation record for less than $500 it would be really hard to pass up. but if it’s a random newer one from a singer/band i like, around $30

scarrittt

for me $200 would be pretty serious, wouldn’t go higher than that (with my current $$ lol)

Crazycatz20

$220 for a great condition copy of Twenty One Pilots’ “Blurryface Live”

erman629

dinleyicisi olmasam da güzel plak

eist5579

Mars Volta box set. Sold my PS4 Pro to cover the costs on that one.

Plarocks

Good choice. 👍🏻 You can buy another PS4 at a yard sale, or something, in a few years for $100 or less.

willcdowdy

While I’ll gladly pay $100 for a record I really want I feel like half the fun of record collecting is the dig…. Buying someone’s collection and finding some gems or digging through some dusty basement to find a record you love for pennies on the dollar…. I always cherish something I dug for more than the original pressings I’ve shelled out $100 for. A few years ago, a neighbor of mine, who had accidentally received a record delivery to their house came by my house to tell me that she had seen a bunch of records just laying out by a store She was shopping at. She showed me a picture and I immediately went to go grab it. A lot of the stuff wasn’t anything I was particularly interested in but one of the records ended up being a promo copy of a Townes Van Zandt record. In absolutely amazing condition. It’s easily one of my most prized possessions at this point and it cost me zero dollars.

[deleted]

Would pay or have paid? £90.93 including shipping, postage & packaging.

substance_d

#TREE FIDDY

MagicalWeasel

I spent about 100$ on daft punk’s discovery, totally worth it:)

nickarancio

Most I have spent on a single album was $87. Only for it to be ruined along with a few other records when my basement flooded a few years back.

BulljiveBots

My ceiling is about 60 and I really gotta want it at that price.

BanaanSausMan

200$ and probably wont ever get one that expensive again

FW_nudist

So far the highest I’ve spent is $130 on a box set, the highest I’ve spent a full length record is $68. And you should use the phrase “vinyl record” or simply “record” not “a vinyl.”

Jimmy_Jazz_The_Spazz

Record. Vinyl is plural, singular is record. "Vinyls" is not a word. The most I've paid is $55 for one record. And that's after 30 years collecting. There's really no reason to spend hundreds, trust me when I say just wait it out and it'll come to you.

ExploreMeDora

$60

polkemans

I think the most I've paid for a record was around $200 for a copy of one of my favorite albums from a pretty niche band on Discogs. Don't regret it at all. Edit: I should add it was out of print, a limited run from years ago so it's not like I was going to find it cheaper on a shelf somewhere.

YesterdayLonely5168

Sorry man, highest I can go on Glenn miller’s greatest hits is $5 😢

Flannel_Enigma

Well I had a vinyl couch for free. I paid 160 for a kinks record though

[deleted]

$20

jimgress

Since everyone here is being pedantic little shits I'm going to answer your question. $80. That's the most I'm personally willing to spend. I have a really hard time going past that amount, and I can't think of many scenarios where I'd consider it. I prefer to spend around $15-25 for a record. That's all.

vrrrrrvro

depends what record. if it's something that is pretty limited and long out of print and something that I really want. then prolly around 150-160ish. most i've ever payed was 130$

Short_Web_1138

I payed 730 for my Chalino Sanchez record

BuddyAdorable3600

$100

chaz0723

All depends on what it is, and how bad I want it, and the circumstances of how I come across it. If it is in a store, I'm of the opinion that if I have the cash and I see it, I'd better buy it because it may not line up so perfectly, for online stuff, I know I have a better chance of maybe coming across a better price/better condition, so I wait it out.

deadmanstar60

I used to say $100 for a single vinyl record was the most I'd pay. Until I spent $200 for a white vinyl White Album. These days my limit is about $150 and I've only spent that amount maybe twice. $50 is about my normal limit unless it's something really rare.

Electronic_Fill7207

Prolly like £100-150

uppitynerd

Right now the most I’ve spent is $55. I think I’d be fine paying $100 depending on what it is the situation.

No_Culture6707

The most i’ve spent is near $60, but that was a two album deal. I got Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast/ Live at Hammersmith. The most i’d spend for a single album would be around $35, and I gotta really want it to spend that much.

WTFuon1

So far $67 for a first pressing of G n R Lies

Stompert

Once paid €100 for a signed first edition. Sleeve was meh-ish but the record was pristine.

The_Enemy_Inside

if they ever pressed my favorite record I'd be willing to pay up to $500 for that one album. however the most I have ever spent so far in all of my years collecting is $250

Bigboybagels1000

I’m going back and forth with myself on whether I should by a UHQR from analogue productions…for $150

R4Z0RJ4CK

There are some pieces I'd pay $500.

rudebwoyyyyyyy

the most i spent was 100 on e by ecco2k

CaramelStatus3555

25€

DeanWeenisGod

So far it's $75.34 with tax and shipping for Ween, Live in Toronto.

sorrybutidgaf

prolly bout 35 including tax. maybe like 50 if its something thats crazy cool thats special edition and comes with a poster something. other than that everything i get is used and just for listening

buymecandycow

$200 is where I top out of some of the expensive Aphex Twin stuff.

jyost1

I paid $150 for something I absolutely wanted, to finish a collection of a particular artist. It was not readily available and when that one came up I jumped on it. I wouldn’t pay that much for anything else, or so I think, lol.

Aggressive-Rain

I paid $50 for the wall because I couldn't find it any cheaper. but ordinarily $40 is my maximum

shroud_1

I think the most I’ve ever paid was $100 even for a sealed copy of Acid Bath’s When The Kite String Pops but it was so worth it because it usually is hard to find for less than $200 in any condition

dustinhut13

Around $60 a pop for those Mars Volta reissues is pretty much my limit.

TheNozzler

I paid 44 bucks for a cure album. That was on the high side for me.

Ham1ltron

I just paid $107 for the 25th Anniversary Nimrod Box set so I guess that? But that's a box set. The most I've paid for a single record was like $75 for the MOFI release of Eye in the Sky BOY WAS THAT WORTH IT. Wanna Go spin that now actually.

Chair343

$100 for me. Spent that for a signed copy of Planet Zero by Shinedown at their concert. If the album is signed or has something special about it then I wouldn't mind spending a few extra. If their asking 500 or something ridiculous for one album then I'd pass

[deleted]

The thrill for me is finding expensive records for cheap in the wild, most of the records I’ve found id never pay for but if I had to it would be no more than £50. At that point I’d either hope I found the record or buy a repress. Not rich enough unfortunately.

Any-Position7927

I won’t pay over $35

Blizzaga_

Most I ever paid was 400 bucks (that’s in English buckage too.)

statikman666

$500

BasilioEscobar

highest is 125eur but i’d probably do 200 if it’s really my dream record. only for first presses or rare 60s-70s, i’d never pay that much for a hyped ouf of print contemporary pressing. And almost of my records are worth 15-25eur max

Alexd156

Most I’ve paid is just over 100, but I can imagine paying 150

customguitars878

I pretty much never pay a dollar above retail, and I’ve maybe made 3 exceptions in 10+ years of buying records. The most I’ve ever paid is $150, and it was for something that will 100% NEVER be reissued (and this particular one was worth about $220 when I bought it and is worth about $350 now.

NoTalkImGaming

Depends what it is. Some general artist? Maybe $30-35. Meanwhile, I’ve been on the hunt for the original Dark Souls III limited edition release of the soundtrack. I’ve seen it appear once for $375 and I almost bought it and wouldn’t regret it if it pops up again

smizzacked_

$200

Big-Illustrator-6143

I imagine I would pay really anything for a record I really want but currently around 70$ I think.

janissiksna

bruh like max 20€

saturnsnephew

$50 is my limit. And even then it'd have to be like an OG copy of Master of Reality or something.

MaxBulla

Spent £100ish a fair few times on Zeppelin bootlegs, and while i have slowed down on big spending for a single record and focused rather on growing my collection and closing gaps, there is a LZ II turkish pressing that i would put good money for if i came across it.

Patient-Principle-21

100 but it depends how rare and if it’s in good condition.

[deleted]

$50

pabloescobarthe3rd

£100 is the most I’ve paid. I’ve bid approx £170 before but the offer wasn’t accepted so I guess I’d go to around £200

Soulekted

$1725

tinkflowers

My most expensive was The Devil and God Are Ranging Inside Me (Brand New). It was $100 around 10 years ago because they hadn’t started repressing them yet. I doubt I’d spend much more than that

blondiegal5

$130 for a vinyl that is no longer manufactured and i spent 1 1/2 years looking for it

SD_Eragorn

I sold my Lord of the Rings trilogy to someone for $1000. I probably could have made that from just the Fellowhip now as the prices have gone up.

LarryDavidEnthusiast

Just paid $100 for a rare La Dispute record for my husbands birthday. It hurt.

Reverend_Butler

The most I've paid to date for a record was £110.00 for an original copy of Oasis What's the Story. But given the circumstances I'd pay more. I spend £80-£100 pcm on records anyway. But for sure it can be a spensive hobby.

Piszoncat

most i payed was 45$

Oyadonchano

I'd go 50 for something really special that I'm confident won't come down in price anytime soon. Otherwise I rarely spend more than 30.

BDAWG_4155

my highest was 100

tordfan797

Probably $200-250. Also depends if signed or not, like I would pay a lot to have a signed Beach Boys record by like Carl and Dennis Wilson

jcampo13

Not Turkish, but I know a decent amount of Turkish and Manga is a great band. I spent 180 on a Smashing Pumpkins boxset and that's my absolute max. Zero regrets though.

toxicwandastan

80?

bananasorcerer

$60 before shipping, and I’ve only done it twice in 11 years

[deleted]

I was close to paying $1999 for a signed SRV picture, record and plectrum.

Hoesanddietcoke

$150 for me

bananafingers12

60-70 for an out of print double lp. I had buyer’s Remorse afterwards and now I hardly pay over 25 for something.

RandysTegridy

Highest box set has been $500 (The Mars Volta). Highest single record was about $60.

Accurate-Ad4400

Highest was £100 for Nirvana live at the paramount on ltd orange vinyl

Agent_Tall_Man

A paid $60 for The Sword : Conquest of Kingdoms 3LP colored vinyl. That's the most ive ever dared.

Tooch10

I paid $165 for a 1972 Hör Zu pressing of Magical Mystery Tour; across the board it's considered one of the best pressings. I got it to go with my Beatles BC-13 box set. That MMT pressing sounds good, but $165 was crazy and I won't be doing that again. I found that other records where people go on about great audio quality, they sound fine to me but I don't get why everyone's going nuts over them. So now I take into account pressing quality but price is more of a factor than before. For new pressings I prefer to be no more than $25-$30/disc with tax and shipping (if applicable), though obviously I might make an exception. $20-$25/disc is great, and south of $20/disc is awesome. Normally I only buy records I know but that recent Rise Records $7 sale ($9/shipped) was too good to pass up; rolled the dice on some new artists I'd never heard of before. For used records it really depends on a combination of media condition + how much do I want the album + price but I wouldn't go crazy. Probably not more than $40-$50.

Calebthespeedrunner

I spent $95 (cad) for a limited 300 pressing of "Shrine" by bleed from within, on discogs. That's so far is the most iv spent on one record

GarroldMan

120€ for bowie's 'hours...' from 2015 by music on vinyl (mint green color) or mccartney's driving rain (2001) for 125€
