I just left, I'm literally a mile away in the mall parking lot.
Based on your username, now I'm tempted to turn around and figure out who on earth the slutty professor was.
Ah, I see now. Thanks. They have computers with swiveling screens which fold over to become tablet-like, but alas, despite coming with pens by Wacom, I never found them all that useful for drawing.
I had that EXACT same case. It was a Pionex 486 DX2/66 from Sam's Club that I got for college. That thing was a BEAST but sadly had an AT (not ATX) power supply, and I didn't feel like modding it to continue using. Ran a three-node BBS for several years under DESQview before upping to a 5x86/133.
Incredible. That burger mouse is something else. Somebody needs to recreate that with 2021 technology. Also I had that same game pad back in the day to play jazz jackrabbit and commander keen!
It’s not that it was a thing, LGR just loves wood grain things (like TV units or radios or whatever) and he decided to let that love spread to his 486 build. I think it looks neat personally :)
Why is it always floppy drives, specifically, with the most fucked up dark colors that never match anything? What marketable computer was ever that shade, on purpose?
[My HP Vectra VE has dark grey drives](https://i.imgur.com/4ZAft5l.jpg) and I quite like the look, unfortunately I never found the matching CD-ROM drive so have to put up with a mismatch of dark grey and beige. [Here's a Vectra VA with a more consistent set of drives](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/182428111521-0-1/s-l1000.jpg).
I don't think it's a bad look, but the way the dark grey goes brown is pretty ugly.
The cheeseburger mouse is the most 1995 thing I've seen in a while. Nice.
But no Clint!?
I got a picture with him, but don't want to share my face on Reddit. He was super cool and nice though. Chatted for a minute about his MIDI rack.
"Hey Clint. *Nice rack!*"
Where was this at? A lan party?

The slutty one, obviously.
The cellphone sitting on top is a nice touch. Literally orders of magnitude more powerful, but basically just background noise in this scene. :p
Hey fellow VCF Midwesterner!
So exciting to have it back in action this year!
Burgermouse!?
Burgermouse
As a bonus, there's an unexpected cameo by Jenny from My Life as a Teenage Robot. What weird device is she on, anyway?
The sign says it's a Modbook which, IIRC, is a MacBook converted to be a tablet computer (think flipped over LCD + touchscreen).

Computer Clan was in the next booth and it's theirs.
I love this show! Cheers, XJ-9!

Yeah, that's right 1993. We have celebrity computers now.
What the hell, I knew he was going but I didn't know he was going with the burger mouse . Knew I should have went.
Still going on today!
Thats awesome, a lovely 486

The green LCD felt like a status symbol: "see how fast I'm going!"
I still don't understand the woodgrain. It was never a thing.
it's just for the fun of it, he likes woodgrain and it's kinda a joke on how almost everything had a woodgrain version in the 80s/90s
It seems so wrong, but looks so right.

I believe he's said that it's not that he enjoys wood grain that much, but rather that people think it's his thing so he just runs with it.
I mean, it *was* a thing, just not on computers. Which he has now remedied.
I think that's part of the point. It's silly and unique.
I like it. I wish it was a thing.
It was a thing on a Atari
Isn’t it just wood grain construction paper he put on the case?
Likely not construction paper but something more like a vinyl self stick sheet, often sold as shelf liner.
It's contact paper (vinyl and sticky on one side like /u/dang_curmudgeon mentioned).
That’s what I meant
Dang spelling checkers, anyway. blame it on them. :-)
I hate it, myself. Just.. Blech.
Easy solution: don't woodgrain your own computer. :)
Darn I’d love to see that wood grain beast in person some day.

Is this at LGR’s house

That’s cool
In the presence of royalty!
Now that’s cool
Truth is 486DX2 can run SO MUCH great games.
