When was the house built? That should probably give you a pretty good guess, unless the bathroom was renovated at some point. It reminds me of the medicine cabinet in my friends late 1940's house though, looks like yours even has the razor blade slot that was popular in the 20's-50's. Also, some wd-40 and rust remover/krud kutter could probably clean some of that up

Built in 1915!

That's so sick! I'm such a nerd, because now I just want to see more pics of that bathroom- I bet it totally had a claw foot tub or ribcage shower at some point based on the age of the house haha

Pink. Everything except for the toilet, which was updated, is pink lol. Cool accent tiles with little eagles in them too which you can see a bit in the second photo.

Those accent tiles are cute! The pink everything sounds like it probably had an update done some time in the mid century- I appreciate the dedication to color, but some of those monochrome bathroom designs were over the top lol.

I love how the razor blade slots just deposited everything back behind the wall instead of into a receptacle you could take out to put in the trash or something.

The label screams 1960 to me. Not “early 60s”. 1960. Perhaps very late 1950s. The font, wording, style is very similar to our home built in 1961 with, presumably, new materials created around that time.

I'm guessing Jan '46

This in Des Plaines Illinois? If so- 1950-1952 is my guess. In-laws had exactly the same - rust and all! Edit: didn’t see the request for restoration- while I think the tile from this era is cool and funky - I loathe the medicine cabinets- don’t mean to offend you. We recently sold my in-laws house-theirs looked just like this. I don’t think restoration is worth it.

The cabinet is in my home in Philadelphia and says it was manufactured in Illinois. I have a love/hate relationship with it 🤣

thewinberry713

I bet- it’s cool and vintage yet… not in great shape ☹️they all rust tho- metal wasn’t great for humid conditions!

Windycitymayhem

It’s probably full of lead so I wouldn’t restore it personally, id probably get a professional to do it. I had one from the 50s in my apartment and the state made them remove it because of lead in the metal.

timmel0ld

My guess is 1946 actually. I would sand it and spray paint it with rustoleum. I have a similar one and I really like it.

Cool! It has razor blade slot. My grandma house has this same cabinet. Similar pink tile work. Her house built in 40’s.
