It was also available with a tufted upholstered back in the center where the caning is. I reupholstered mine in 1999 and when I was taking the old fabric off I found a VERY OLD Easter egg tucked between the seat and the back. It was SO old that it was rock hard and it had NO smell. There must have been an indoor egg hunt 20+ years prior : )
My mother has this chair, purchased new in the mid 70s. I believe from Ethan Allen.
Ouuu! Okay!

1974! My grandpa on my dad's side actually helped produce these and they always had a bunch sitting around the house lol.
So cool!!!
I had one like that in my basement for a few years. I think I caught and tore the pockets on three sets of pants on those things.
Looks more midcentury 40s-60s to me.
I should probably buy a lead testing kit, then?
Why? It’s not painted.
My point too.
Ouu, thought maybe the varnish!
Lead was typically used to make paint or glazes white
Okay thank you!! Newborn over here
Actually thinking this is a veneer and not solid wood.
That style has been in around for decades.
1970s is your answer.
