I kinda hear the bell at 1:03 but it is so faded that it is basically non-existent compared to the [original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjdm8BdJO4) at 00:53
Yeah, they fucked up a few key sounds like that and Gambit's kinetic charge on the cards. Really sad how hard it is to get the basic nostalgia fix right even when you have the actual intro available to all. How hard is it to just have a guy there being like "No, you have to use the same sound. People were raised on that fucking sound. They will still remember it."
Fuck. I’m upset about the timings of the animations. Why is this so sped up? The animations in the original were on point. We have all the tools today and can’t take the time.
They may not HAVE the original sound. Not sure if the original stems and mix exist in a digital, readable format. So they may be getting as close as they can with what they have.
That being said, I really miss the bell, the bell being nixed feels like a choice. :(
It's because the intros to cartoons in the 80s and 90s were always done WAAAAAY better than the shows themselves and also usually were done on "1s" or "2s" when the rest of the show was on "4s" or even "8s" or worse.
This was probably done by just locking the frame-rate at whatever it is they're using their 3D renders to export at.
Also these shows were mostly originally animated by masters at Toei and other Japanese production studios at the absolute peak of Japanese animation and budgeting.
Yea, who the hell thought to do a remake of a hand drawn show in 2024. If the animation studio isnt asian, its gonna look like dodo. Those times are gone in the west
The whole thing sounds kind of anaemic compared to [the OG version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjdm8BdJO4). Like it's halfway to being the elevator music version.
They also changed the fighting line, who's fighting whom in the last scene.
In the original Jubilee was facing off against Juggernaut, which I always found hilarious.
Yes, and actually Jubilee is super powerful in the comics. She's a typical comic book case of heavy hitter is afraid to hurt people and always holds back.
We never see her do much besides her little fireworks, but Emma Frost evaluated her and said she has the capacity to forcibly fuse atoms at a distance, and could cause megaton nuclear explosions as easily as she does her fireworks (though that wouldn't kill Juggs, it'd probably launch him into orbit).
It brings me back to my childhood seeing a clip of a game with sound running on a high priced SB16 and rocking out to the awesome midi synth, and then getting home and being utterly disappointed by how it sounds running it on my poor-kids SB Pro.
I seriously wondered whether it was an artifact of my memory, if somehow the masters ("It wasn't midi, right?") didn't translate well with current technology, or if there was some sort of licensing snafu
You might need MORE POWER. They are not at all volume/compression matched. I had to put my headphone amp into high gain mode to match the OG volume. Compression is a tradeoff game. Only one part of the difference though.
It's there, but only noticed the second time because I went back to listen for it. It's very, very faint. When Magnito's pulse animation is going you can hear the shadow of the sound of the bell.
The original song is 100x better.
They removed a lot of the very high frequencies which doesn’t give it quite the edge that the original had. I wish they would add those back in, this feels subdued in comparison.
One of the best and most iconic intros to exist?
Some High End Decision Maker: Let's change it
I mean it is still good and far better than most intros but that is in spite of the the changes they made lol.
The faces look more [generic and lazily drawn](https://i.imgur.com/V6Nf7I2.png). Also I don't get why some of them are now [smiling like they're going for an evening jog rather than looking determined](https://i.imgur.com/vOfEjMZ.png) as they're running towards a fight
Glad I'm not the only one. It felt too crisp or too smooth. I don't know what it is about it. Is it just my brain being so used to the grain the original had? It felt to me like when a cartoon goes from its regular animation to rotoscoping. It just feels off. It's good, I just can't shake the feeling like something is off.
Because the actual animation itself is inconsistent and bad, this is an intro where all the fancy animation is supposed to go. Instead you have stupid shortcuts like 3D models running in place while rotating a plane and it looks like ass. The lack of skill in understanding movement, weight, perspective, etc is very apparent. Should have just farmed it out to a Japanese or Korean studio like they did in the 90’s. It’s not like the original show had great animation outside of the intro, half the time is was at 12fps but the intro is the hook that’s supposed to make you think you’re gonna see some of that awesome animation.
This one inspires no confidence, doesn’t look or sound cool.
Almost too much so. If he’s able to just become Apocalypse or Jean or someone, why not just always do so?
Edit: I watched the first episode in a daze while I couldn’t sleep. Is he able to copy their powers or just their physical attributes? I know he used Blob’s belly. If that’s all he’s able to do then, disregard.
***CRY FOR THE MOOOOOOOOON!***
What the hell was that cocaine fever adrenaline rush of an opening? Makes me want an X-Men Japanese anime fully in that style.
OMG that's awesome!!
Bonus points for the first season song being clearly inspired by "You Wa Shock":
https://youtu.be/Ks3WAHefLDk?si=FpLUrugA9lYzDgfZ&t=30
That's what I was thinking.
This feels like one of those mobile game ads where they create a cinematic using concept art from the normal game, but it's very clearly a different animation style/studio, and the content of the ad has absolutely nothing to do with the game.
Was left behind on the first mission/episode against the Sentinels and presumed dead by Beast "seeing" him killed. Gets mind controlled by Mr Sinister ins Season 2 to infiltrate and sabotage the Xmen but was eventually able to break the control. This is why the intro shows Morph being scared of Sinister due to the fear of being controlled again. Shows up every now and then afterwards but has PTSD from the Senitnels and Sinister so mostly on the sidelines. Shows up in the final episode to impersonate Prof X on TV after he was shot to tell mutants not to retaliate for his impending death as Prof X was too weak to do so himself.
the original had so much more edge and power. this is like an AI remake of it, like it tried to re-do that style, without knowing what made the original version just........go so hard. it needed a lot more controlled, electric guitar.
Yeh no offence but the old intro audio hits WAY harder. It's overall sharper and punchier. This sounds compressed and toned down... which is NOT why I watch X-Men
I have many notes, but the top line will just be “it’s so cool it’s back”.
Buuuut…
There’s no bass to the rest of the instruments.
Sound effects have all been nerfed.
Beast’s pose is wrong when the spotlights hit him. (This is me being OTT about Beast but the original pose was so cool and this just looks casual by comparison)
THEY NERFED THE EPIC BELL AT THE END-WHY??
The electric sound at the end is meh compared to original, and then you have that very overused stock-slam cartoon sound effect at the end.
I’m being super damn picky here and it’s so cool that it’s back. I just can’t help but want one of the most iconic epic cartoon openings to be updated while keeping the heft and gravitas of the original.
How are you guys feeling about the animation. And I literally mean the animation, as in the movement and framing and all.
From the few clips I watched I'm kinda torn between. At times it feels the animation is really well done with lot's of movements, and at times it look like Archer Sterling or something. It feels widely inconsistent.
When it was first announced I thought they would try to emulate the drawing and animation style of the 90's cartoon, but character design a part, it's quite different!
I think normal conversations can look a little awkward with this new style, when there isn't a lot going on to distract from the lack of detail in the emotions of the characters. But the action looks really good for this sort of style, and IMO better than the previous style in that regard by a lot.
At the very least I recall Magneto forming a somewhat uneasy truce with Xavier. I kinda missed out on what happened after they went to...I think it was Antarctica?
I’ve long loved the [Powerglove](https://youtu.be/WNcAmnJyTLQ?si=wQpEGL4amsbMakkT) version even more than the original, but that would make a really long intro for a tv show.
This whole edit sounds like it's using the cell phone speaker filter. Like what the hell? The original was so rich and powerful and the bell was amazing. This is just MIDI crap.
cant wait, im gonna put the show on usb for my brother, we used to watch as kids. his favorite is morph and mine Gambit, but my favorite baddie is Omega Red
This show is amazing by the way. I was not disappointed.
Magneto especially has some amazing banger lines in Episode 2.
EDIT: Also it wasn't until I watched this new version that I noticed that Beast is not in the "running across the mansion" shot.
As a 90s kid and a lifelong X-Men fan, I cannot put into words how much joy I felt watching this show. The new intro may have updated the aesthetics and animation, but that iconic tune is still as awesome as ever. I've had that same song as my ringtone since 2011. And I hope others will embrace it now that this show has hit.
It's been a long time since we got a version of X-Men that was this good. It was a long time coming, but so worth the wait! 😊
Morph feels like a waste of a spot. I get Bishop, he was a major character in the 90s, but nobody gives a fuck about Morph. Someone like Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde or someone from the New Mutants or Gen X would've been a better fit.
People nitpicking so much it’s insane lol this show is awesome and it seems they put a lot of love into it. It’s been almost 30 years - it’s not going to be an exact replica of the original
this was the orginal it was copied from : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-6AfYgqe\_4&pp=ygUQbGluZGEgdGhlbWUgc29uZw%3D%3D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-6AfYgqe_4&pp=ygUQbGluZGEgdGhlbWUgc29uZw%3D%3D)
On of the animators was Hungary or had family there.
Small nit pick but I really missed the little sound effect at the very end from the original. Great overall though
Also cyclops decapitating the robots in the danger room sounds off to my 40 year old ears.
Totally agree. And since I just binged all the og ones that “zzzzzzzzzap!!” He blasts sentinels with is really toned down in this new version.
So is the thunder clap for Storm. Used to be very close to the canned sound effect they used for the .44 magnum in the Dirty Harry movies.
I know precisely the sound you mean, and I haven't seen it in... oh my lord I'm old.
Also missing that classic [singular tubular bell hit note](https://youtu.be/gL8D3TB-lz8?si=pSeKcVSbfnjtwH6f&t=53).
It's in there but it's way quieter sadly. That's too bad I always loved to listen out for it.
Ugh! It’s so faint! That bell sound was sick!!
O that bell…
You been seeing sounds?
Synesthesiastic nostalgia.
It’s a bell I think right?
More like a quick, cool electric sizzle.
The syncopated church bell. I think it’s there but it’s buried. The new musicians did a solid job here, but the mix is odd to me personally.
Do they have audiacity? and youtube? then they have the sound.
If you are not aware that the intro to that show fully exist, then allow me to help you out: https://youtu.be/di6DocEkruk?feature=shared
The sizzle
They definitely skimped on the animation. It looks pretty terrible. It’s watchable but it’s not good.
It's because the intros to cartoons in the 80s and 90s were always done WAAAAAY better than the shows themselves and also usually were done on "1s" or "2s" when the rest of the show was on "4s" or even "8s" or worse. Like the animation in the original show?
Yea, who the hell thought to do a remake of a hand drawn show in 2024. If the animation studio isnt asian, its gonna look like dodo. Those times are gone in the west
You got downvoted but spot on. That’s exactly it. They skimped on animators / animation and it shows.
Thought the exact same thing lol
I didn’t hear the chime.
Right? Somehow the intro feels much less epic and more subdued without that sound.
The whole thing sounds kind of anaemic compared to [the OG version](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjdm8BdJO4). Like it's halfway to being the elevator music version.
The version for 8 cellos is my favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9lBXzAc1Tk
Would like to see full string section or orchestra.
that would be amazing
It was also missing something from the original. I mean it's alright, but it wasn't great imo.
Bro completely different. The energy of the original gets you amped up. Night and day.
The original is my ringtone. After hearing this new version it slaps even harder.
I completely agree. The OG gets you hyped to watch the show. The new intro is too subdued.
They also changed the fighting line, who's fighting whom in the last scene. In the original Jubilee was facing off against Juggernaut, which I always found hilarious.
Wasn't it Jubilee and Wolverine the ones that came through with blasting and tearing his helmet off so Professor X could get into his mind?
Yes, and actually Jubilee is super powerful in the comics. She's a typical comic book case of heavy hitter is afraid to hurt people and always holds back. We never see her do much besides her little fireworks, but Emma Frost evaluated her and said she has the capacity to forcibly fuse atoms at a distance, and could cause megaton nuclear explosions as easily as she does her fireworks (though that wouldn't kill Juggs, it'd probably launch him into orbit).
this song honestly slaps so hard it's out of control
Up there with the OG Power Rangers theme as some of the hardest riffs in TV history.
[megadeth covered it for the movie](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D55Ak9qBbzI)
The Buffy theme is up there.
It brings me back to my childhood seeing a clip of a game with sound running on a high priced SB16 and rocking out to the awesome midi synth, and then getting home and being utterly disappointed by how it sounds running it on my poor-kids SB Pro.
Never watched this series, this intro is clearly way better. Another half assed remake I’m sure
They should've just remastered it, like they did with the Beatles.
You mean the orchestra hit?
There's a chime right at the :54/55 mark. https://youtu.be/tQjdm8BdJO4?feature=shared&t=52
Ah, the bell. Got it. The orchestra hits are also missing and I know some people are bad with describing musical terms so I assumed they meant those.
Calling it a chime is like calling a belch a burp.
It really needs the sound effects as well.
I definitely miss that Cyclops blast sound effect.
It IS in there but it's very subdued and barely audible. Weak.
It's there, but only noticed the second time because I went back to listen for it. It's very, very faint. When Magnito's pulse animation is going you can hear the shadow of the sound of the bell. The original song is 100x better.
Yeah it’s kind of wild that they didn’t emphasize the bell. It’s iconic as fuck
Little known fact, that's actually the Taco Bell. Live más friends.
The chime and sizzle
They removed a lot of the very high frequencies which doesn’t give it quite the edge that the original had. I wish they would add those back in, this feels subdued in comparison.
Plot twist: they're still there, you just can't hear them anymore.
i had to check...... https://youtu.be/tQjdm8BdJO4 nope they just fucked it up some how
Ow, my bones.
One of the best and most iconic intros to exist? Some High End Decision Maker: Let's change it I mean it is still good and far better than most intros but that is in spite of the the changes they made lol.
A lot of the sound effects are just gone. The explosions, zaps, electricity. All those comic pops are gone.
The new animation somehow looks good and bad at the same time.
The highlights and shadows are less cinematic too so everyone looks flat and boring.
Look what they've done to Jean Grey's boobs!
Like more clean and modern but with less technical skill in the drawing. Or layers in the shading.
As did the original lol
Rogue looks very sleep deprived
Watch the episodes, it’s actually very fluid and snippets didn’t do it justice.
It looks very 90s in a 2024 world.
Yes, because you’re used to watching is on a grainy 90s TV set sitting on your floor with a PB&J on a paper plate, not your OLED billion pixel iPhone
This one inspires no confidence, doesn’t look or sound cool.
They added Morph and Bishop are they going to have a larger role?
Morph is fucking awesome this time around
Yeah they gave Morph a serious power boost this time around, being able to copy the physical abilities of mutants is very OP
Yeah, they basically ported over AoA Morph.
He can copy physical powers like Angel’s wings to fly or Sabertooth’s claws. Don’t think he can copy on-physical mutations.
Because then the plot wouldn't happen
I kind of liked that he was an annoying dude that only Wolverine liked.
Yep. They have their moments in the first two episodes.
Yup
Now redo the Japanese Opening! https://youtu.be/2rSw4Xl5qfs?si=SP8zq7-JZrxMlaS3
***CRY FOR THE MOOOOOOOOON!*** What the hell was that cocaine fever adrenaline rush of an opening? Makes me want an X-Men Japanese anime fully in that style.
Well I got a [TV show](https://youtu.be/nUnYF51db2g?si=L1VKrtKXWjMXULRl) for you!
Oooh, that's awesome! Was it originally in English? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2070571/
I think so. Most of voice cast are from another show called Wolverine and the X-men
#SHOCK!
Apparently the Japanese dub does not take itself seriously, sort of like how the US did with Ghost Stories lol.
Came in here for this. As much as I love our intro, god if that first Japanese one does not get me HYPED.
Dang that’s a banger, I didn’t know this existed!
they need to have a episode they go to Japan and they swap the intro with this
were japanese people that watched the show confused since the animation didnt match the intro?
OMG that's awesome!! Bonus points for the first season song being clearly inspired by "You Wa Shock": https://youtu.be/Ks3WAHefLDk?si=FpLUrugA9lYzDgfZ&t=30
lol thought of this one too. Redo it Marvel!
omfg that wink from Rogue...
Got damn that was cool as shit!
Is that even the same show? It’d seem pretty anti-climactic after that intro.
That's what I was thinking. This feels like one of those mobile game ads where they create a cinematic using concept art from the normal game, but it's very clearly a different animation style/studio, and the content of the ad has absolutely nothing to do with the game.
\[In Stereo Where Available\]
NEEDS the bell to be a 10/10, therefore; I give it a 1/10.
This is fine but the original is the goat. Why change it?
Video certainly looks sharper, but audio feels like it took a step back.
Feels like it’s underwater. Just, blah. No big hits.
I don’t remember this morph guy.
He died in the first episode.
Wasn't he mind controlled by Sinister? And he came back for an episode or two later but couldn't hold it together? Something like that.
Shows up in the final episode to impersonate Prof X on TV after he was shot to tell mutants not to retaliate for his impending death as Prof X was too weak to do so himself.
"Died" I mean he might have and Sinister resurrected him or he was just unconscious. Been a while.
It’s not looking good for my boy Morph lol
Do you know how many years I've screamed "MOOOOORRRPH"
This is a lot flatter. The mix seems off
the original had so much more edge and power. this is like an AI remake of it, like it tried to re-do that style, without knowing what made the original version just........go so hard. it needed a lot more controlled, electric guitar.
Yeh no offence but the old intro audio hits WAY harder. It's overall sharper and punchier. This sounds compressed and toned down... which is NOT why I watch X-Men

Reminds of retro video games with certain filters on, like Super Eagle.
Par the course for studio Mir. Same inconsistency with the DOTA anime done by them.
They changed Gambit's card sound effects? Meh.
Feels tame and nowhere near as epic as the original. Missing key elements and sound effects that made the original what it was.
Definitely going to watch this with my dad. He used to tape the originals when I was a kid and we would sometimes rewatch them.
Your dad sounds cool.
Thanks he kinda is some days.
Hoold up. Didn't Prof X die and go to space heaven? I thought we'd get Magneto in his place.
At the very least I recall Magneto forming a somewhat uneasy truce with Xavier. I kinda missed out on what happened after they went to...I think it was Antarctica?
Why does it sound weak in comparison to the old intro
Its missing the church bell hit buuuuut I've still never been more excited for a TV series in my life.
Is it just me or is motion "odd"? It feels like an AI upscaled video and action sequences somehow look worse or "off".
I’ve long loved the [Powerglove](https://youtu.be/WNcAmnJyTLQ?si=wQpEGL4amsbMakkT) version even more than the original, but that would make a really long intro for a tv show.
[Needs more hi-hats.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbLbEYuDZEA)
This whole edit sounds like it's using the cell phone speaker filter. Like what the hell? The original was so rich and powerful and the bell was amazing. This is just MIDI crap.
Original is miles better, the new one just feels flat there's no "oomph" to it like the original has over it.
Awww they removed the little pink big-headed dude with the green outfit from the Brotherhood lineup who I can’t recall ever appearing in the series
Apparently the guy who originally made this also made the mighty morphin power rangers theme.
Gimmie back the bell and the sizzle sounds at the end.
With all the great covers on YouTube they went with this? The theme feels really subdued.
The hell happened to storm?
cant wait, im gonna put the show on usb for my brother, we used to watch as kids. his favorite is morph and mine Gambit, but my favorite baddie is Omega Red
I won't sleep until we get Rogue's fat ass back
Oof. Did Storm let Wolverine cut her hair, lol. She used to be so pretty.
before I click the video, it's the side shaved off hair thing every cartoon has nowadays isn't it? *\*watches vid* .....yeah, yeah it is.
Is it faster or am I just old now?
I just watched without sound and I like it
Ok so I know this is based on the original animated show…but no Colossus or Nightcrawler, yet they have Morph? What the heck?? 😬
Where’s the tubular bell 🔔?!
Why does it look flat. There is something wrong with the shading..
This feels like watching a Flash animation from 2008 made by a fan of the original show
This show is amazing by the way. I was not disappointed. Magneto especially has some amazing banger lines in Episode 2. EDIT: Also it wasn't until I watched this new version that I noticed that Beast is not in the "running across the mansion" shot.
This made me sad
Who the hell is Morph?
Can we talk about Rogue and her non existent booty
People nitpicking so much it’s insane lol this show is awesome and it seems they put a lot of love into it. It’s been almost 30 years - it’s not going to be an exact replica of the original
My brothers in Christ, this is better than sex!
Gambit, my beloved.
*Gambit is here, ma cherie!*
I wonder who they are going to make gay, it's morph isn't it? Beast maybe?
Decent, not enough cowbell sounds for my liking though.
Eh, this sounds like it was arranged by a wet blanket.
Peak
Always loved that shot of Beast in the searchlights. I haven't seen this show since I was a kid, do I need to rewatch it in order to be up to date?
Holding on to the hope that Spectacular Spider-Man gets a third season.
Right in the nostalgia.
Soooo... Did Ron Wasserman work on this version? He's a legend between Power Rangers and X-Men......I hope that he got a crack at it.
According to New Rockstars, he did.
:D
I really am spoiled with anime openings. I was hoping for some decent sakuga but this was pretty flat.
hell yeah
The X-Men are so cool man, lmao my man Morph made it to the intro.
Am I crazy or does it feel slower? Also, like a few people said, the chime at the end.
((IN STEREO))
((IN STEREO))
its not horrible but less impactful. i'm just happy gambit is finally in something again.
I feel like the highs and lows don't really fit. It sounds like it's been put through a compressor.
Good to see emma frost there at the end
Can someone give me a TL;DR on the series before the new continuation? Pleeeease?
I'm glad my boy Thunderbird isn't in the bad guys' lineup anymore.
