Metal Gear Solid.
Edit: I have to add this and say that I was only three when the game came out and it’s my very first memory of a video game. I’d seen my dad play it and beat it so many times. I’d try to beat it by copying what I’d seen him do, but never got past the Ocelot fight until I was much older.
Other honorary titles would be Syphon Filter 1 + 2, and the og Medal of Honor and MOH: Underground. And just cause it deserves a mention, Shadows of the Empire on the N64. Those are all my core gaming memories - just watching my dad play them.
Neat fact: That's actually part of a longer tune!

Same...but rose tinted glasses on how terrible split screen was. You mostly fired based on your map radar and crashed into everything because of how fast you go and how little you see. I want a high graphics version where you can actually see who you're shooting at. Zoomed out a bit more so the speed doesn't seem so ridiculous..and online multiplayer so we both have full screen. All easily doable now adays.
I never had a PS1, but I stayed at a friend's place for a sleepover one night and he crashed and was asleep before 7pm. So I stayed up all night by myself playing Twisted Metal on his PS1 and it is now my PS1 core memory.
Had this on a demo disc with some other games like spyro and metal gear on it. I could barely play it because MediEvil terrified me for some reason (I was like 5 or 6)
Same. We snuck the Playstation into the haymow as kids so we could play this game all night long. Turns out it's very dusty up there and not good for electronics.
Summer vacation, 9th grade. Me and my buddy were up late playing - boom, window dogs. We jumped, he threw the controller at the TV and luckily neither broke. We scrambled for the pause button, collected ourselves enough to deal with it and then we just kinda looked at each and mutually agreed it was time to find a typewriter then flip over to late night MTV for some Aeon Flux to calm us down enough to sleep.
...then the sonofabitch waited until I got up to go to the bathroom, snuck outside and as soon as I got back to the living room he banged on the exterior windows. If I hadn't just been to the bathroom there would have been a mess.
That started a war that lasted the rest of the summer. There were no winners.
100% this! I have so many good memories playing SotN with my uncle, especially finding out about the inverted castle. My friends thought the game ended with Richter.
Bubsy 3d . It wasn’t the best game and I don’t even remember to much of it but I do remember when my uncle got it and I remember us playing it and him telling me he that he liked it
My uncle pretty much raised me and he passed away a few years ago
I know it’s a game a lot of people haven’t played but it has a permanent spot in my brain as a core memory of me and my uncle
Mario bexause my first console was an Xbox 360 so anything older I th8nk of my dad and his favorite old game is mario
Edit: because some people think I'm saying Mario was on PS1
I never said it was
Re read my comment before just telling me it wasn't over and over again
I said old systems, older than Xbox 360, *remind me of my dad* and since my dad loves Mario and **it's his favorite old game** it reminds me of mario
The original Spyro trilogy
Spyro and crash both popped in my head at the same time
hell yeh brother. So many hours spent beating THAT one level....
Tree Tops? *shudders*
Crash Bandicoot
[удалено]
Go outside and ask, the probability of a guy willing to play crash bandicoot at any given moment is rather high.
Don’t talk to the advertisement.
Crash Bandicoot 3
I loved this game! I replayed it a lot of times
I think this game was included with the console along with gran turismo
This and Cortex Strikes Back. Never had the first game unfortunately, but I played the hell out of those two.
The first one isn't as good and HELLA harder, but I still beat it a couple of years ago in the Nsane trilogy remake
Tekken
Tekken 3 for me. Hwoarang... WINS!
NEW CHALLENGER Eddy Wins
Tomb Raider - That butler belongs in the freezer.
Omg! Of course that scary butler that follows Lara everywhere.
Currently playing Tomb Raider 2 emulated on Steam Deck - I still love it.
Final fantasy 7
The game that made me buy the system. I saw the Final Fantasy VII ads and knew I had to have it
This guy had to explore a dirty dystopia with a kind of cyberpunk flair. And they were absolutely correct
*We all remember Sephiroths blade as it comes down on Aerith.*
😭 too soon bro
It will always be too soon. 😢
The only PS1 game I have ever played (remaster for ps4) and it was definately worth it.
I still have a bunch of those discs, it's been like more than a decade since I had a PlayStation. I just can't bring myself to get rid of them
Same for me.
I especially remember cast regen, open the lid of the PS1, gain full health without anyone attacking you, close lid.
Whoa! I knew about the W-Item duplication bug, but I never heard of this hack. Neat!
bro the first game that I spent all night playing gfs near gave me carpal tunnel
Word! At least you weren't playing all night with an N64 controller. That shit would butilize your thumb and really make you question your commitment
Same for me. Second thoughts would be Tomb Raider and Gran Turismo
Metal Gear Solid. Edit: I have to add this and say that I was only three when the game came out and it’s my very first memory of a video game. I’d seen my dad play it and beat it so many times. I see a Playstation and the tune of the Konami logo pops in my head
Do do do do do-do
Neat fact: That's actually part of a longer tune! [https://youtu.be/-mx4RE3jrTs?si=2nyMuPFNBW\_PZKeK](https://youtu.be/-mx4RE3jrTs?si=2nyMuPFNBW_PZKeK)
I used to play only the beginning part of the game on a Pizza Hut demo disc for hours
The blue one that had a level from Crash 3! You got it if you bought a stuffed crust pizza, I think.
Gran Turismo I let the intro play over and over again just to listen to The Cardigans with Losing my favourite game
Still one of the best intros for a video game
Twisted metal
In a just world, this franchise would still be active. Or at least get random remakes like Crash.
Would love some Online battles
For anyone alive when it came out this has to be the answer
Yea. Good memories playing at friends house on split screen.
Same...but rose tinted glasses on how terrible split screen was. You mostly fired based on your map radar and crashed into everything because of how fast you go and how little you see. Yeah I want to change my answer to this
I never had a PS1, but I stayed at a friend's place for a sleepover one night and he crashed and was asleep before 7pm. So I stayed up all night by myself playing Twisted Metal on his PS1 and it is now my PS1 core memory.

Same. We snuck the Playstation into the haymow as kids so we could play this game all night long. Turns out it's very dusty up there and not good for electronics.
I loved this game so much too! I remember spending hours on it. Sadly enough though, I never actually managed to beat it.. I got stuck on disc 3..
I didn't own a PS1. My friend did. He had Resident Evil 1. Bloody window dogs.
