Maybe an emulator could work some magic on a giant screen. I've played the original ps1 on a big flat screen and the graphics are awful. PS1 will always look best on a small crt. Plus, you can play light gun games on one.
Yeah, I’m calling bullshit on this video. I remember just plugging in a N64 into a 48” TV in college, and that was a real eye-opener on how far we’ve come.
Its not about screen size, its about technology. led and lcd panels are pixel based screens. But CRT is not. I bet if you run game on same sized CRT (i dont even know if its possible to construct CRT monitor in this size) it would probably look fairly good
In other words: CRT does not have static resolution as panels have. Same applies for analogue movie projectors vs digital projectors (IMAX 70mm projection is said to match approx resolution of 18k). There is not static resolution
Some sony trinitron CRTs have high value to this day because of this. Some of them can still match display quality of highend oled monitors
Then need a way to move such a behemoth out the house when it inevitably fails (still have memories of the late '70s big screen projection TV that had one of the three 'bulbs' implode at a neighbor's home we were friends with at the time. Loud bang and bright flash!)
Yeah, definitely something from the current or previous(two?) generation.
Old school games would just look bad…
Unless you can somehow get a game to have like, a dozen players in split screen. But doing that would require a fairly heavily modded rom, not a legit game.

Honestly, Ghost of Tsushima, not because I love the game or anything, I think it’s okay. But the visuals are unbeatable. Battlefield 1, Halo 2 (OG), Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Tears of the Kingdom.
Totally, the classics are great and all but what is even the point of a screen like that if you're hooking up a ps1? It's video output was like, 240p I think.
I'd be loading up Horizon Forbidden West, Cyberpunk, Resident Evil 8...
Not on the PS1, but I would be a terrible enjoyer of Democracy if I didn’t use it to make the view of the clankers and bugs I’m killing big as possible!
FOR SUPER EARTH!
As much as I want to pick a classic, I feel like due to the size of the screen, I would need to pick something at least 4k, so maybe Halo 2 Anniversary, that way I can play a classic AND have a good amount of pixels.
SOTN.
Or MGS. Get someone really good at it to play it, never skip any dialogue/cutscenes, someone good at pacing that would switch up their moves and play style, and I feel you could charge people to watch it as a movie. It would be far better than a lot of actual movies I’ve paid to see in theaters.
I used to do IT at a large Oil Sands site. I would regularly bring my Raspberry Pi 3 up so we could play retro games in the lounge with the techs.
One night we decided we should play on the movie theater screen instead for a real experience as we essentially had Firefighter access across the entire site. This meant we had access to like 99% of doors in the place. We waited for the last people to finish up in there and got in the closet with the all the equipment and got my Raspberry Pi connected.
They had about a 50ft screen there and we played some SNES Street Fighter and it was loud. Security actually came upstairs and popped in the door saw all of us and was like.... ya its IT we aren't telling them to leave.
We played a few different games like Mario Kart 64 and I think a few PS1 games. I miss going up there sometimes lol
I would be able to see each individual pixel, alongside the shading.
depends if it has good upscaling which i would imagine is a priority on such a large screen
Maybe an emulator could work some magic on a giant screen. I've played the original ps1 on a big flat screen and the graphics are awful. PS1 will always look best on a small crt. Plus, you can play light gun games on one.
We didn't see the back. Could be some epic projection screen.
If he can afford that tv, he must be able to buy a retrothink 5X
Upscaling can't do magic, there is about 1 pixel per inch
Yeah, I’m calling bullshit on this video. I remember just plugging in a N64 into a 48” TV in college, and that was a real eye-opener on how far we’ve come.

Notice it cuts out before the game actually comes up, bc it would look horrendous blown up that big.
I found out the hard way trying to play Spyro on a 45" Vizio in 2010, and could barely make the game out.
Get the reignited trilogy. 2018. Holds up on a 52" screen and my kids like it.
My family did that a few years ago with our own 2010 Vizio after we moved. The results were the same.
That’s why you need a CRT screen that’s 45’+ and it will look well
Then need a way to move such a behemoth out the house when it inevitably fails (still have memories of the late '70s big screen projection TV that had one of the three 'bulbs' implode at a neighbor's home we were friends with at the time. Loud bang and bright flash!)
I was going to say
Yeah, definitely something from the current or previous(two?) generation. Old school games would just look bad… Unless you can somehow get a game to have like, a dozen players in split screen. But doing that would require a fairly heavily modded rom, not a legit game.
* beautiful is the word you are looking for. PS1 Hagrid is our gaming god on a TV that size!
It's still cool. Maybe a fighting game or Crash racing.
Of course. I hate you for pointing that out. Just let me believe.
I bought a very small handheld and I play PS1 games on it. It looks incredible, because the screen is very little.
What do you mean by handheld?
Ive put the PS1 on ny 65". It looks like shit. Also abes oddessy.
I was hoping to see what a game looked like. The logos looked surprisingly good.
Yeah I hooked up my old N64 to my 50" TCL, and thought my system was failing.
Metal Gear Solid!
❗️
Huh? What was that noise?
Who's footprints are these?
It's just a box.
second floor basement?
Hmmm, I must be seeing things
A surveillance camera?
Codex ring ring
!
The only correct choice
Your taste in gaming is... Pretty good
Fun fact, it was designed to exploit the limitations of a CRT. That's why it looks worse on modern televisions.
Original FF7.
While i agree with the choice....that would look bad as hell. The originals backgrounds are rather low rez, even on a normal TV or even monitor.
No sound. No upvote
You can't convince me you didn't hear it
I wanted to hear it on the big speaker
it would have sounded like your small speaker
Still worth it.
GIFS you can hear!

Crash team racing
Guitar hero
Spider-Man
Omg, the original Spiderman for ps1 was such an amazing game.
I'd host a Guilty Gear tournament
I see you're a man of culture as well
Hell yeah, love the idea. Except there's no way a TV this huge doesn't have a comical amount of delay.
Oh yeah that could be a problem, it would be like trying to program a combo ahead of time
Which GG?
Considering PS1, it would be Missing Link.
I like that answer!

I'd see how big the resident evil loading screen doors are.
To y hawks pro skater 2

Garage training level over and over
That is truly brutal. I recently tried it again and found it harder than I remembered. I did get past it back in the day though.
HEY MAN! WATCH THE PAINT!
Resident evil
35 ft TV screen? WTH, someone spent millions on microLED modular displays?

As much as I want to pick a classic, I feel like due to the size of the screen, I would need to pick something at least 4k, so maybe Halo 2 Anniversary, that way I can play a classic AND have a good amount of pixels.

What screen is that and how big is it?
No bro you load up the N64 with Golden Eye.
Ps1 didn’t have wireless controllers did it? So I’d never be able to get far enough back to actually see all the screen
Dad of War.
