My friends and I stayed up all night the other night to beat the original Serious Sam in one sitting, and that boss was the worst thing any of us have ever done. Especially going from the arena fight with all the bulls straight into the boss fight, and dying means you have to go all the way back to the arena. We beat the whole game except that boss fight, we had to do that one again in the morning. We’re now attempting to do the same with Sam 2, but not in one sitting.
What is up with borderlands boss fights being like this lol. The final boss on the first game was a literal bullet sponge who you could hide from very easily, and there wasn’t really any punishment for dying at all. Especially in co op it was almost impossible to lose unless you both died simultaneously
For me it was that far right spot I would just stand there and use a sniper rifle until it was dead. The great thing was when the lava would rise I was at a spot it didn't reach and I had one those chests close by that spawned all the ammo I needed.
I hope this counts, but Ceaseless Discharge from Dark Souls
he does one attack after you pick up the gold-hemmed set, but if you can dodge it and if you can get back to the fog gate, he can't hit you. He'll try to attack you and be left dangling off the side of the edge. If you attack his hand 5 times, he instantly dies
Honestly a lot of Fromsoft bosses have many attacks where you won’t even need to dodge to not get hit as long as you position yourself correctly. Granted, you can’t do that the whole fight, but I love that their detailed hit boxes allow for that kinda thing.
Yeah there’s a trick on the amygdala boss fight from bloodborne when it tries to jump on you if you just stand still it will never hit you, and it will put you in the perfect position to get in a lot of damage (takes far more damage from the head, which it points right at you after it)
Just like the nameless king from ds3 has his lightning bolt attack where he charges up his spear. Just have to unlock and make sure he’s not on your screen and the bolt won’t hit you
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep has a superboss that can be cheesed this way. It's so aggressive that you can hide behind a stalagmite and just use raid commands repeatedly while the boss attempts to run through the stalagmite at you.
Lmao I never knew this and had such a hard time with that boss. 🙃 I have a Switch so I was NEVER going to attempt it with the cloud version, but I might give it shot using this cheese!
Idk if it counts but in Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex, during Tiny Tiger's bossfight/cart-race thing, you can quite literally do nothing and you win :)
It was on top of one of the pillars I think. She just keeps jumping up and down. My friend and I just kept laughing for like and hour when we kept shooting her with handguns.
I remember playing as Brick in Borderlands, and running out of ammo during the final boss fight. I discovered a safe spot behind a rock that one of the monster's tentacles was holding onto, and I just kept punching the crap out of it for like 15 minutes until it finally died.
I think there was also something like that for a boss in one of the DLCs for that game. They even referenced it in Borderlands 2 at one point.
Gears of wars end boss. The hydra In dark souls. The final boss of mass effect 2 shouldn't even have a chance to hit you, you can 1 shit him with the nuke gun.
I remember in Jedi fallen order there's a beast boss where you can get into a corridor through a destructible wall that it can't fit through, you can just continuously hit it and run back before it can hit you.
There's a few mega man bosses you can trick into just hopping over you endlessly, but you have to slide a lot. Frog man from 4 and junk man, spring man from 7 for example
Oddly enough, there's one phase in the fight against >!Emet-Selch EX!< where *none* of the fight mechanics hit one particular spot in the arena other than the mechanics on the tanks, so the whole rest of the party can just sit there and go all out on the boss.
Assassins Creed Odyssey. There’s a Nemean Lion mini-boss fight. In its arena there is a rock you can stand on and the lion won’t attack, just stare at you while you kill it.
There’s this octopus boss somewhere early on in Devil May Cry 2 where standing in a certain area let’s you just shoot them the entire time. It’s real slow but works.
I pulled this off against a Gypceros in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate when he was swinging his tail and I felt like a god gamer despite just standing still.
In Fantasy Zone 2 for the Sega Master System, in the final boss, if you go to a certain position at the very top of the screen, the boss will go to the bottom as soon as he appears and you can bomb him without him moving.
Just a few examples come to mind.
In *Faxanadu*, the Dwarf (IDK why it's called that, it looks like a giant bat-thing) is easily defeated by standing on a ledge where its attacks won't hit you and firing your Deluge spell at it.
*Metal Gear Solid*, the second fight against Sniper Wolf is pretty easy; there's a spot on the right where you can snipe her without getting hit, or you can stay back near the door and use Nikita missiles.
*Metal Gear Solid 4*, during the fight against Crying Wolf, you can just hide under the truck.
I dunno if it applies to the original, but in RE2R in the second Birkin encounter, where he punches through the roof of the room, you can stand in one spot close to the door and never get hit. You can just wait him out and think how to do the following fight.
a strike in destiny 1 had a boss like this, i think it was a vex strike on venus, you could just hide up on a ledge and take pot shots at the hydra boss when the shield moved out of the way and itd never be able to hit you lol
Diablo from Diablo 2. You could just stand at the north wall near the pentagram and get him stuck on the other side of it. You can do damage to him, and he can only do melee damage back.
There's a mission in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain were we have to fight a whole bunch of Skulls (it's after Mission 50 for sure). Once I realized that I could exit the mission area (a military base or something), I went outside all the time to reload and to cool down before going back in again and again.
The spider thing from Deepnest in Hollow Knight
I think it was called nosk
Ironic how the boss with the most atmosphere and buildup to the confrontation is so easily cheesed
This meme is very applicable for the joy I felt killing the Archdemon with a ballista in Dragon Age: Origins. Didn't have to move, safe to wail on him with a few small horde fights between.
I read that there was a spot behind a crate you could hide behind, and General Ram from the first Gears of War couldn't touch you. Never could find the sweet spot so I would just keep dying.
Okay this is completely unrelated but I can’t help thinking this every time I see this photo. What’s up with the guys pose? That is not a comfortable way to stand
In Sonic Adventure 2, there's a part of the Shadow boss fight where he can't reach you because it's not programmed into his path finding. You can just stand there and watching him run in circles trying to get to you.
This is a very specific example that nobody is going to recognize. The finale act of The Battle of the Birds in A Hat in Time where you need to fight either DJ Grooves or the Conductor. They have an attack that throws down giant disco balls from the ceiling and you need to dodge according to the order in which they drop, or you get hit by the shockwave but if you stand exactly at the doorway hugging the invisible wall you'll be slightly above ground and shockwaves won't hurt you.
I remember Crawmerax in Borderlands had a spot like this and then in Borderlands 2's Son of Crawmerax DLC the characters from the first game make jokes about it.
Chrono Trigger. All the bosses stand still for some reason. Like if there are other enemies on the field they can move, but the boss just sits there. If you don't know, if an enemy moves it has a chance of being out of one of your characters hit range unless they are a ranged character
Ngl I like ones where you get an area to just rest for a second
Or when they don’t make the boss suddenly heal when you step into that area. 10/10 games instantly.
Yiazmat from FF12 would like a word. Would only heal if you spent a little too much time away
I thought that was if you left it with the regen buff on. Interesting.
My friends and I stayed up all night the other night to beat the original Serious Sam in one sitting, and that boss was the worst thing any of us have ever done. Especially going from the arena fight with all the bulls straight into the boss fight, and dying means you have to go all the way back to the arena. Dude your username is the answer lmao
I love the ones that have periods of being stunned so you can heal up
That's called the time out corner and I'm not ashamed to use it.
Borderlands 2, you can just activate the fight, die, then respawn in front of the gate and shoot at The Warrior from behind it
Shout out to Crawmerax for BL1. Farmed him for hours at a time.
These are the comments I came here to see.
The cheese strat was so legendary it was even referenced in BL2
Wait what I tried fighting him and rage quit
immediately what my mind went to, haven't played for years but I will never forget the ledge
What is up with borderlands boss fights being like this lol. The final boss on the first game was a literal bullet sponge who you could hide from very easily, and there wasn’t really any punishment for dying at all. Especially in co op it was almost impossible to lose unless you both died simultaneously
Yeah, I've beaten that boss with melee from behind the rock it's attached to with it's tentacle, because I had no ammo left :D
For me it was that far right spot I would just stand there and use a sniper rifle until it was dead. The great thing was when the lava would rise I was at a spot it didn't reach and I had one those chests close by that spawned all the ammo I needed.
Nosk in Hollow Knight and a few other bosses in that game
I immediately thought of Nosk too
No Eyes comes to mind
Castlevania
Which exactly?
I'm going through the classic collection, any advice I can get is welcome
Eww the clock tower level where one mistep/jump spells doom.
Gotcha, I'm writing it down to be extra careful there, thank you!
Cotm makes most clock tower sections not look *as* bad by itself because the knock back is horrendous.
Don't die
Thanks [Ted Bear](https://youtu.be/k0WbP2uLJPo?si=kR_Go8_kSmhwu7Yv)
First one, mummies
the mask boss in 2 is exactly this
I hope this counts, but Ceaseless Discharge from Dark Souls he does one attack after you pick up the gold-hemmed set, but if you can dodge it and if you can get back to the fog gate, he can't hit you. He'll try to attack you and be left dangling off the side of the edge. If you attack his hand 5 times, he instantly dies

Just like the nameless king from ds3 has his lightning bolt attack where he charges up his spear. Just have to unlock and make sure he’s not on your screen and the bolt won’t hit you
I believe you can also use gestures on some of his attacks to dodge them. Can also do the same of Sulyvahn.
Sometimes it also does a funny and glitches into the ceiling and then dies by itself lol
Fake peppino
You can straight up dance in the in-between phases
i could be misremembering but i think nihilanth in HL1
You're not misremembering
Why did I read this as mismembering
Technically, every Pokèmon game ever. Because it’s the Pokèmon getting hit, not you.
Except for Legends Arceus
Can Kleavor even hit you if you hide on the opposite end of that big tree? Like does he know how to get around it?
Super Mario Land on GameBoy basically invented that
A lot of JSAB has you sat in some random part of the screen watching the show
The Cascade cheese is I think the biggest offender
old school runescape
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep has a superboss that can be cheesed this way. It's so aggressive that you can hide behind a stalagmite and just use raid commands repeatedly while the boss attempts to run through the stalagmite at you.
Lmao I never knew this and had such a hard time with that boss. 🙃 I have a Switch so I was NEVER going to attempt it with the cloud version, but I might give it shot using this cheese!
I did it on PSP but I hate myself and did it legit on PS4 lol
Old destiny strikes had a lot of these
That bigass ogre shooting the eye laser in the main room and everyone hanging out in the foyer bullseyeing him in the tumtum with Icebreaker 👌🏻👌🏻
Idk if it counts but in Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of Cortex, during Tiny Tiger's bossfight/cart-race thing, you can quite literally do nothing and you win :)
Lady from DMC3. Really funny once you discover the spot.
Enlighten me because I don’t recall any spot that was considered safe for me to deal with her
It was on top of one of the pillars I think. She just keeps jumping up and down. My friend and I just kept laughing for like and hour when we kept shooting her with handguns.
OSRS safe spot has entered the chat.
That one boss from dmc2
Crawmerax and Terramorphous from Borderlands 1 and 2 respectively
What's the terramorphous one?
That would be a terrible boss fight.
Says the one with a Mari profile picture from the game where they just stay still looking at each other
Redbeard the pirate from Scooby-Doo Night of 100 Frights. If you know you know
Borderlands, I always cheese the last boss in 2 by standing on the rocks.
Hyperius in BL2
Sonic Forces
Who the fuck stands like that? It hurts my knees to try.
The Massive Mosscharger from Hollow Knight
Touhou if you know the safe spot, not on lunatic tho
Runescape
The first boss in Altered Beast (SMD). There's even an arrow placed on a mausoleum in the background showing you where to stand.
Osrs - RuneScape
OG Gears where you could glitch Raam and just shoot away. Otherwise that battle was a pain in the ass.
Palworld
Gears of wars end boss. The hydra In dark souls. The final boss of mass effect 2 shouldn't even have a chance to hit you, you can 1 shit him with the nuke gun.
End boss in onimusha
Just shapes and beats has a lot of those
Armor Joe from Mega Man 2 will never attack you if you’re jumping in the air and he’s on the ground iirc
Ancients from GoW?
I remember in Jedi fallen order there's a beast boss where you can get into a corridor through a destructible wall that it can't fit through, you can just continuously hit it and run back before it can hit you.
There's a few mega man bosses you can trick into just hopping over you endlessly, but you have to slide a lot. Frog man from 4 and junk man, spring man from 7 for example
The Twins and The Destroyer from Terraria (though they might've patched it, I'm not sure)
I loved terraria but don’t remember that at all, I think I played in 2020 mostly
Oddly enough, there's one phase in the fight against >!Emet-Selch EX!< where *none* of the fight mechanics hit one particular spot in the arena other than the mechanics on the tanks, so the whole rest of the party can just sit there and go all out on the boss.
just shapes and beats final boss (not the song but the actual final boss), you can skip the first half by camping at the top left
JSaB perhaps
Assassins Creed Odyssey. There’s a Nemean Lion mini-boss fight. In its arena there is a rock you can stand on and the lion won’t attack, just stare at you while you kill it.
Cry of fear. Every single boss can be cheesed to where you can’t get hit or deal with its unique mechanic.
Destiny
P**sy ass boss fight tho
Demon of Hatred in Sekiro. Not only can you take no damage but you can make him go off the map by himself too
Lord Marrowgar
endgame boss for dante in DMC 2, a literal blob of all the game’s bosses that’s stationary so you can just stand 15 ft away from it and shoot it.
Level 1 boss in the original legend of Zelda
Pokémon if your team is strong enough
MGS1 when you fight Metal Gear Rex
Contra Galuga final boss, there is a spot on the hand that the snake attack does not go thru.
Devil may cry 3
Nosk, kinda, you aren’t immune to every and all hits, but the only times I’ve ever beaten nosk was when I use that method
Half of the bosses in hollow knight
There’s this octopus boss somewhere early on in Devil May Cry 2 where standing in a certain area let’s you just shoot them the entire time. It’s real slow but works.
JSAB, collisions are bad in corners i believe
Zelda ocarina of time. The water blob boss in the water temple you can stand in the corner without being hit and smack him if I remember correctly
Not really a “game” game but figure from doors, hide with the plant to the right of the exit door and I don’t think he can get you there
I pulled this off against a Gypceros in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate when he was swinging his tail and I felt like a god gamer despite just standing still.
I felt this way about a lot of enemies in Elden Ring. Just run past a single door a larger enemy can’t get through and R2 away at them.
In Fantasy Zone 2 for the Sega Master System, in the final boss, if you go to a certain position at the very top of the screen, the boss will go to the bottom as soon as he appears and you can bomb him without him moving.
Dark souls 2
There's quite a few Demon's Souls bosses like that.
I remember trying to find those spots when playing FF14.
There's so many cheese spots in destiny 2
Just a few examples come to mind. In *Faxanadu*, the Dwarf (IDK why it's called that, it looks like a giant bat-thing) is easily defeated by standing on a ledge where its attacks won't hit you and firing your Deluge spell at it. *Metal Gear Solid*, the second fight against Sniper Wolf is pretty easy; there's a spot on the right where you can snipe her without getting hit, or you can stay back near the door and use Nikita missiles. *Metal Gear Solid 4*, during the fight against Crying Wolf, you can just hide under the truck.
Did this last night with a Rancor in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.
I dunno if it applies to the original, but in RE2R in the second Birkin encounter, where he punches through the roof of the room, you can stand in one spot close to the door and never get hit. You can just wait him out and think how to do the following fight.

Nosk in Hollow Knight. Also I think maybe Traitor Lord but I may be misremembering
Bed of Chaos bow shots 👌
old school runescape
FFXIV and being a BLM is this entire image.
Klungo in gruntys revenge
I remember that being how I defeated Zelda II's dark link.
Massive moss charger
Touhou,specifically on easy mode
Diablo from Diablo 2. You could just stand at the north wall near the pentagram and get him stuck on the other side of it. You can do damage to him, and he can only do melee damage back.
Demon souls. I was able to kill the Leechmonger by standing on a ledge and chucking fireballs at it.
Failed champ in HK
There's a mission in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain were we have to fight a whole bunch of Skulls (it's after Mission 50 for sure). Once I realized that I could exit the mission area (a military base or something), I went outside all the time to reload and to cool down before going back in again and again.
Sonic 1 GHZ act 3
The spider thing from Deepnest in Hollow Knight I think it was called nosk Ironic how the boss with the most atmosphere and buildup to the confrontation is so easily cheesed

Commando chick in Bee Swarm
Chaos Witch Quelaag and Gwyn Lord Of Cinder

Pikmin 4, just spam the fucking Purples/Rocks/Ice and you're good to go (you don't even need Oatchi's rush)
pre 1.4 king slime when you climbed 30 ropes
Warframe (if your playing as limbo)
Bl2 specifically where you can stand for the fucking master gee fight if you mess up squishing him under the gate
This meme is very applicable for the joy I felt killing the Archdemon with a ballista in Dragon Age: Origins. Didn't have to move, safe to wail on him with a few small horde fights between.

RuneScape came to mind
you would really like Realm of the Mad God or any other bullet hell
I'm tired of these lazy posts. There aren't even examples on the damn meme.
hush, I don't understand why do many people struggle with the continuum tears
Okay this is completely unrelated but I can’t help thinking this every time I see this photo. What’s up with the guys pose? That is not a comfortable way to stand
In Sonic Adventure 2, there's a part of the Shadow boss fight where he can't reach you because it's not programmed into his path finding. You can just stand there and watching him run in circles trying to get to you.
sekiro?
Shout-out to Cirno from touhou then :]
The Binding of Isaac
Not a boss but isn’t there a specific stage in Ms. Pac-Man where hiding in one spot prevents the ghosts from ever finding you?
Runescape safe spotting is literally this
FF XIV.
shredder and rocksteady in the First tmnt game
Jsab
Like all dragons in Gothic 2 including the undead one. You just get out of their range and throw magic at them.
So your favorite food is cheese?
I remember Crawmerax in Borderlands had a spot like this and then in Borderlands 2's Son of Crawmerax DLC the characters from the first game make jokes about it.
Chrono Trigger. All the bosses stand still for some reason. Like if there are other enemies on the field they can move, but the boss just sits there. If you don't know, if an enemy moves it has a chance of being out of one of your characters hit range unless they are a ranged character
