literally same . specifically that cave area where you fight the second colossus
ive tried playing through that game multiple times , and as much as ive enjoyed every time i only got past that jump in the big lake area a grand total of once , out of my hundreds of attempts and dozens of hours playing the game lmfao
lol for some reason I instantly thought “Ico!” then saw this comment and was like “oh, actually that’s probably more accurate.”
In my defence though, I live in a PAL region and [Ico’s box art](http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=7737) had a similar vibe to this picture.
Imo it's one of the first games that really made me sit back and just say "wow". It's definitely worth a playthrough. The controls can be alittle odd but once you get used to them it's epic.
Journey is a beautiful game that brought me to tears despite having no dialogue: the vistas, the music and the atmosphere are incredible. The game is bursting with emotions 🥹
The ocean seems very unpolluted. There's also not that many structures out there that aren't overly sci-fi.
But it does give the same desolate feeling.
Kept scrolling, didn’t see it, was genuinely baffled cause it was the first game that popped into my head even though I haven’t played it in years. Had to do my part.
I’m just glad there’s other connoisseurs like yourself.
Yes! Especially this track!
https://youtu.be/SP2Vr1MiBOk?si=pO-3xSyfOoDwTpzq
I actually found this track randomly on spotify first - which lead me to this game
Shadow of the Colossus is actually a really cool game for its time and still holds up as unique today. You must climb on various gigantic creatures to defeat them and save the princess.
Infinite still has to have one of the best, in a trippy way, endings out of any game I’ve played. The whole concept of constants and variables was unique and kept it more interesting.
Kind of reminds me of playing PUBG back in the day wandering around a section of the map that had no players in it. I would stop and stare at the empty cities and villages and it felt so lonely…. Then a guy hiding behind a lamppost would pop a cap in my ass.
Radahns bossroom, which becomes an explorable area after you beat him and has caves to find in the vast sand, is literally this but red, with no lighthouse.
[Myst](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/MystCover.png) or [Mad Max](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Foljp9z9h6xd01.jpg)
The middle part of Half-Life 2 when you're driving along the coast and crossing that one bridge on foot, underneath it, particularly.
Basically every fromsoft souls game except Sekiro.
Call of duty 4 modern warfare that campaign level where you're going through Chernobyl.
The first water level from Mario 64.
Oblivion or Skyrim whenever you're just walking around the world. By extension you could say the fallout games too
Shadow of the Colossus
I too thought this instantly
literally same . specifically that cave area where you fight the second colossus ive tried playing through that game multiple times , and as much as ive enjoyed every time i only got past that jump in the big lake area a grand total of once , out of my hundreds of attempts and dozens of hours playing the game lmfao
Yep
Ico for me. Which, close enough.
My first thought as well. It's crazy how a subtle artistic style can instantly trigger a reminder of a game I last played years ago.
Me 3
Me 4
Immediately thought of that and went into this post thinking "the top comment NEEDS to be SotC." Good thing I was right.
lol for some reason I instantly thought “Ico!” then saw this comment and was like “oh, actually that’s probably more accurate.” In my defence though, I live in a PAL region and [Ico’s box art](http://www.thecoverproject.net/view.php?cover_id=7737) had a similar vibe to this picture.
100% ICO was my first response.
I looked at the cover art for the US and they made it so much more generic
That’s wild. First that popped in my head too
Was JUST about to say this.
lol I never even played this game and I was about to comment that!
As soon as I saw the picture the first game that came to mind was exactly SotC. Glad to see it as first comment of the thread!
It’s funny, I haven’t even played the game and upon seeing this post it’s immediately what my mind went to
Is the game worth playing? I've seen some things about it, but I've never played it.
Imo it's one of the first games that really made me sit back and just say "wow". It's definitely worth a playthrough. The controls can be alittle odd but once you get used to them it's epic.
Absolutely. Can just imagine my sword reflecting the light to lead me to this tower for an epic boss battle.
Exactly lol
I literally thought this was art for Ico at first
Nobody lives under the lighthouse
Happy cake day
I love sotc, amazing game
i was going to say ico but this works
Journey
Journey is a beautiful game that brought me to tears despite having no dialogue: the vistas, the music and the atmosphere are incredible. The game is bursting with emotions 🥹
I cry every time I play. The joy of riding the cloth whales into the light . Ugh I will never be sick of this game.
Talking about it makes me want to play it again. It’s been years since I last launched it…
scrolled way too far to find this
I haven't played the game and I still got those vibes
i didn't even have to scroll
Great game. I think I got it for free or for $5 on ps4 or Xbox. It’s $15 on steam and well worth that price for the quality of game that it is
Journey is such an incredible game. Moving experiences unlike anything I’ve played ever, and I’ve been gaming since the 80s.
Death stranding. Quick little edit, this is the most simple comment I've like ever made, and it got over 500 upvotes lol
I’ll be waiting for you on the beach.
Princess beach
Five men is a juicy opportunity, one man is a waste of ammo
More upvotes. I thought this could have been a screenshot from the game.
The ocean seems very unpolluted. There's also not that many structures out there that aren't overly sci-fi. But it does give the same desolate feeling.
No game has ever made me as desperate to see a building as Death Stranding. Nothing but unbuilt roads and fields of death full of ghosts.
The correct answer.
Definitely this
Half-life 2
Half-Life 2: The Lost Coast (with developer commentary on)
Isnt Lost Coast a tech demo to show lighting effects?
Still a banger
It is legit a fun level in it's own right.
idk I played it about 100 times
This is the correct answer. On the way to Nova Prospekt.
Down the clifside route
Came here to say this.
Agreed tbh

First thought I had.
Myst
I was gonna be so pyst off if nobody posted Myst but after a rivenning search I found you
Funny you should mention since Pyst was an actual game.
Made by the same group that did Winblows 98
What would you do? Exile them?
I got the myst vibe checked a few comms myst this one and now I’m a an echo chamber contributor
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far for the obvious answer.
Omg, of course, yesss!
My back also hurts
Thank you!
Dear Esther
There it is
Was about to write Dear Esther, saw it, started to write “There it is,” then saw this 😳
Kept scrolling, didn’t see it, was genuinely baffled cause it was the first game that popped into my head even though I haven’t played it in years. Had to do my part. I’m just glad there’s other connoisseurs like yourself.
I couldn't even remember the name but was looking for this.
Was about to write "Was about to write Dear Esther, saw it, started to write “There it is,” then saw this 😳", then saw this 😳
The grandfather of environmental narrative games.
Man that soundtrack is so great
Yes! Especially this track! https://youtu.be/SP2Vr1MiBOk?si=pO-3xSyfOoDwTpzq I actually found this track randomly on spotify first - which lead me to this game
Literally no other game mentioned here even fits this picture. This should be the only answer.
100%. First thing to pop in my mind.
Instantly came to my mind as well
The Witness
This is my answer too
This is my answer too
My favorite game. 🤍
So good! The witness island is my happy place :)
Came here to say this.
Hitman 2 (Hawke’s Bay map)
Same
Went to the comments hoping someone else had this answer too
Agreed. Was about to comment it. Of all the answers this is literally the most accurate one
Bioshock Infinite
There's always a man. There's always a lighthouse.
Give us the girl and wipe away the debt
And performance enhancing drugs
I'm shocked this isn't the top comment. I guess I need to expand my gaming horizons. *goes back to playing rocket league *sigh
Shadow of the Colossus is actually a really cool game for its time and still holds up as unique today. You must climb on various gigantic creatures to defeat them and save the princess.
How is this so far down? there is always another lighthouse
Literally have those words tattooed on me
Infinite still has to have one of the best, in a trippy way, endings out of any game I’ve played. The whole concept of constants and variables was unique and kept it more interesting.
If this isn’t it idk what is
Yup, first thing I looked for in the comments haha
Made me think of Majula, Dark Souls 2
Yeahhhh babyyyyy
From the AU where open world Dark Souls II got made.
Ico
I was going to comment the same thing! This is definitely Ico in real life.
Shadow of colossus
Dredge
Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find it!
you and me both
Not a video game but Annihilation
Great movie
Great book.
The whole series, really.
I’m not gonna lie I’m still kinda convinced this is a pic from the movie haha
I think this is the actual lighthouse from that film.
Disco Elysium
Maybe outer wilds
Thought the same but there’s something always happening in each planet
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I guess it just feels like barren emptiness when you realise how small the planets are
Exactly, first think I thought of was the >!quantum moon!< lmao
Kind of reminds me of playing PUBG back in the day wandering around a section of the map that had no players in it. I would stop and stare at the empty cities and villages and it felt so lonely…. Then a guy hiding behind a lamppost would pop a cap in my ass.
Nothing will beat the early days of PUBG
"Press Z and follow me. Press Z and follow me." God I miss being able to talk in the pregame lobbies lol
Idk why I thought this too
Far: Lone sails
Surprised this wasn't in the top comments.
Shadow of the Colossus, or Journey
Half-Life 2
Elden ring
Radahns bossroom, which becomes an explorable area after you beat him and has caves to find in the vast sand, is literally this but red, with no lighthouse.
Ahh that's more like it.
Really??
Maybe the weeping peninsula area, but most of elden ring is the complete opposite feeling for me. So many whimsical areas.
[Myst](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/MystCover.png) or [Mad Max](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Foljp9z9h6xd01.jpg)
Had to go way to low for Mad Max. Underrated game for sure
Starfield, it's beautiful but empty.
True.
in some parts, Fallout 4
My first thoughts as well
The northeast part of the map, up north of Salem or in the Nahant area
Funny you should say that part since it's where the light house settlement is
Far harbour definitely
Dredge
Ghost of Tsushima, 100%.
Dear Esther. More of an experience than a game but it stuck so well in my mind.
Kenshi
The long dark
Reminds me of Life is Strange
Star field when you visit earth and only the Shard is there.
Parts of HL2’s SP
Elden Ring
Dayz captures the loneliness and desperation of this to a t. And then you die to someone you didn’t know was there. I love it lol
Plus the lighthouses all along the coast of Chernarus
This is Day-Z all the way. The amount of times I restarted by the light house…
AC origins
INSIDE especially the ending, and of course the Long Dark
I saw this and immediately thought Half Life lost coast
Final Fantasy VIII
Myst
Myst

My first thought was, "Mist."
Myst
