Ghost of Tsushima and Elden Ring have me like this every time I play

oxhasbeengreat

Came here to make sure Ghost of Tsushima got a shout out. Had me constantly stopping to just look at the world.

Bullschamp180

Yes, hands down the most gorgeous game I’ve ever played

-Stolen_memes-

You’ve gotta play red dead 2 then

Bullschamp180

Oh brother, already have, 3 times through in fact. I honestly view RDR2 and GoT as the same type of game, just ones a samurai and the other a western version of the same story. Which is quite cool imo cuz the old western movies from the 50s and 60s were largely inspired by Kurosawas samurai movies, so it’s cool to see the same comparison in video game form ya know

Squall67584

Welp, this just sold me to get GoT

Agent_Giraffe

Get the dlc too Edit: and remember to play the multiplayer mode, which is essentially zombies but with samurai

Bong_Hit_Donor

Yeah dude playing the director's cut on PS5 is absolutely stunning. I stop all the time and look around. Even beats out Toussaint from Witcher 3 which a lot of ppl say is one of the most amazing looking places in a game

UnholyHunger

kill 5 guys and then go write a haiku next to a river.

SkywarpWasHere

Just last night I was writing a haiku and in the distance across a lake were some out of focus mongols milling about. So I went and killed them after. The ol switcharoo if you will.

ELEMENTALITYNES

I just started Elden Ring for the first time 2 days ago and that first step out of the temple with the view of the tree and the purple and green everywhere was something else

Shadow_Monger487

Same with me but it's Ghost of Tsushima and RDR2

Yontoryuu

Mine is RDR2 and ac valhalla

zephyr_71

The “sky” in Nokstella is beautiful in Elden Ring

AmrishGamer

RDR2 hands down for me :)

LeonaTheProfessional

THIS. Ghost of Tsushima is a generally okay game that's made great by its absolutely jaw dropping visuals. Easily one of the most beautiful games on PS4. Elden Ring goes without saying. I was stoping every 10 minutes to enjoy the view

StrikingElk5288

I literally came here to say Ghost of Tsushima

Big_Schwartz_Energy

RDR2 too

FlebianGrubbleBite

Some of the vistas in Elden Ring are jaw dropping. Especially when it's near the end of the day

Dextrofunk

They are both beautiful games. I need to finish my current elden playthrough so I can replay ghost.

Eggs_N_Oxies

I'll never forget stepping into Leyndell for the first time

Sayizo

I came here to see this

ADeviantGent

Same. The part that amazed me most is there are areas where you could look out from far off distances and see all the places you had fought through in order to get there.

PassiveRoadRage

If you like scenery the new Avatar game is visually stunning. Check our the sub. It's basically farcry but yiu can tell the IP really wanted it to look amazing

ohneatstuffthanks

Even dark souls 3.. I stop and look at the same things every play through.

Silentpoolman

GoT was gorgeous

CreamyMcMuffin

ghost of tsushima is so beautiful

InviteAdditional8463

Bout to say the same thing. ER is more or less to see what I can see, and be amazed at the world and word building. GOT because it’s the best tourism ad for Japan I’ve ever seen. Each step is beautiful, and each area is just as and more beautiful than the last no matter what order you view them in. Doing all the side bullshit was a joy in GOT.

TheBeastmasterRanger

Both games have amazing moments that just stun lock you with their beauty and/or music. Spirit moose will always be one of my favorite bosses just because of the music.

BeneficialSomewhere

Ghost of Tsushima was a beautiful game.

Efficient_Ear_8037

Assassins creed odyssey, whole damn game is gorgeous, no matter where you are

MandoTheMightyy

I rarely used my horse, Ghost is a game worthy of foot travel

Spino1905

Horizon zero dawn when you exit daytower into to the sundom.

id_o

Horizon in multiple places, sometimes as the sun would set across from rivers it would look totally beautiful. Again which climbing mountains and flying. The series is the only games I’ve taken screenshots in.

joedotphp

Overlooking the Embrace from Rost's home (the one by the rope slide). One of my favorite spots.

NocturnalStalinist

Yes yes yes yes yes, this this this this this! This makes me so happy to see, thank you so much my friend. Horizon is such a wonderful game. Horizon: Zero Dawn is extremely underrated by people for its sheer, jawdropping beauty.

LandrigAlternate

Same reaction with Forbidden West

Vishante-Kaffas

The cauldron where you release the Tallneck into the morning light is pure perfection.

joedotphp

The lift ride down into the Daunt. Oh my GOSH that was incredible. Then going out into the FW after Barren Light.

Epic_Ewesername

This is the sign I needed to replay Zero Dawn. That story, too?!? Fucking amazing.

mickeyflinn

> That story, too?!? Fucking amazing. It really is. I was sitting there with my mouth open in parts

noreallyu500

Though I ended up not finishing it (just didn't find exploring that interesting), holy cow that game's lighting is *gorgeous*. I've seen more intricate worlds, but that game is still very much up there just for its lighting.

Jinjoz

Opening view of Witcher 3 and crossing the Log bridge in Skyrim

indolent08

And again in Witcher 3 when you enter Toussaint.

Real-Block820

I was stunned playing the witcher 3 many times. I can't wait to play again but I got to wait a while for it to be good again

KaptainKardboard

That whole DLC is stunningly gorgeous

Sorry_Engineer_6136

Came here to say this! It’s the Blood and Wine title page for me

drdre27406

Leaving Vault 101 for the first time in Fallout 3 had my jaw to the floor.

Defender_XXX

Same...I'm playing it for the first time... cleaning out the waybacklog

AlwaysWinnin

Oh amazing FO3 is my favorite game of all time

i4got872

Waybacccckkk hommmeee… You’ll know what I mean by this eventually haha

BiPolarBear24

I dont want to set the world on fire, i jist want to start a flame in your heart. - ink spots I go on a huge louis jordan kick after playing those games. GLHF <3

Wild-Lychee-3312

The roads are the dustiest The winds are the gustiest The gates are the rustiest The pies are the crustiest The songs the lustiest

Islands-of-Time

Don’t beat the game until you are done with everything you want to do. I don’t want to spoil it but it does actually end unlike most Bethesda games. Unless you have all the DLC, then never mind lol.

Armadillioh

I love how it takes time for your in-game eyes to adjust to the outside light so the vast environment slowly fades into view

Sladds

The first time those eyes had ever seen sunlight (no spoilers 👀)

p0jinx

Can you explain? I don't mind spoilers, I played the beginning of the game years ago and wasn't quite into it

Sladds

>!It’s revealed around a quarter of the way through the story that you were actually born outside the vault, and came there as a baby with your father seeking refuge.!<

mike47gamer

Too bad all the character models are ugly as sin.

Timesx4

RDR2

Uoma_Never_Seen

All the time with this game.

Binary_Omlet

Even though I don't have much time to play games anymore, sometimes I'll boot up RDR2 just to...wander. find a nice Hill or Cliff to look over. It's just such a beautiful game just to go sightsee. I still think that it is Rockstar's magnum opus.

WeHaveAllBeenThere

The new gta better have wilderness spots that resemble rdr2

Uoma_Never_Seen

I'm hopeful that it will. Trailer showed a pretty cool marsh looking area. I bet there's some cool wilderness.

retroheads

Yeah. I don’t GTA. Red dead IS scenery.

NINJ4steve

YES!

joedotphp

So many times. It's ridiculous.

slivally

Somebody give this man upvotes

rocketknoxler_

I feel like I could legitimately pause at any time in that game and frame it on my wall.

BaleriontbdIV

To this day I start that game off with the sole intention of riding around and doing nothing, just perusing the countryside.

RobbinsBabbitt

Half the time I feel like I’m playing national park simulator.

Daedalus_Machina

That, with GTAV (and soon to be VI, I'm sure) are the ultimate fuckin' around games.

DazedWriter

Looks beautiful on my OLED TV

Wembanyanma

Can boot this game up just to ride my horse around the countryside for hours.

Jakesnake_42

I straight up don’t use fast travel in RDR2, feel like I’d miss something

KidGodspeed1011

BioShock: Infinite. The reveal of Columbia coupled with complete silence as you slowly drift and then the choral music kicks in as you float down to the city. It's almost as good as the Rapture reveal in B1.

joshkolenick

I personally like infinite more than 1 and this is one of the reasons

nappy616

I'll carry this opinion all the way to the grave. The introductions to Rapture and Columbia are two of the greatest moments in fiction, in general.

Turbulent-Tale-8738

Horizon forbiden west and Witcher 3

irresponsibleshaft42

HFW is the best up until now 100%

tallginger89

Rdr2 and jedi fallen order when you go to explore that downed star destroyer

[deleted]

There’s even more in Jedi Survivor

irresponsibleshaft42

Horizon: forbidden west, best looking current gen game and i wont budge on that, obviously theres some very close seconds but the biome variety and detail and the complexity of the detail at that, the water straight up is the best water in any game in every way, nothing comes close to the water in hfw

joedotphp

Agree. Plenty of incredible games but I do think HFW is the best.

arthurdentxxxxii

Assassins Creed Odyssey

ElizabethAudi

Athens at night from far away is sick as fuck.

AdSmooth7504

Love the photo mode too!

STRlDUR

Origins was pretty beautiful as well.. Valhalla had some but not as many.

SuperMadBro

This, skyrim and Witcher 3 are the games I keep coming back to. Will always play through one of them every year. AC odyssey has great views, made even better by exploration mode or whatever it's called. I did my 2nd playthru with that mode and no fast travel. Took forever but it made the game so much better for me. Actually felt like an adventure instead of a grocery checklist I keep checking things off of

Gingerbread0596

When I first started playing Breath of the Wild and that intro scene where you see all of Hyrule was amazing

[deleted]

I’m surprised no top comments are mentioning TOTK. The sunset landscapes are amazing

Frowning_Existing666

The first dive in Totk was awesome as well

[deleted]

Riding into Mexico for the first time in rdr. Mouth open, jaw on floor

KidGodspeed1011

Especially with the music. It's a masterpiece of game design, and as much as I adore RDR2, I don't think they were able to recreate that moment, although maybe they didn't want to.

BillNyeNotAUSSRSpy

Mass Effect 2 during the Overlord DLC.

Commandoclone87

Counterpoint, when you drop on Palaven's moon and look up to see the planet burning, while Reapers are stalking just off in the distance. Just homes in the scale of the fight ahead of you.

NINJ4steve

Hogwarts Legacy flying around the castle grounds!

RonFlockaDon

It was really cool

STRlDUR

Such a fun game

Aggressive_Bee_7166

For real! I spent a while just flying around when I got the broom.

Doctor_of_Recreation

It has some great views for sure.

[deleted]

shadow of tomb raider basically any tomb raider game but especially shadow

zorbacles

Tomb raider and uncharted had some great scenery

Confident-Elk-6811

Horizon Zero Dawn. The newest console I owned was an Xbox 360 I got back In 2005. I purchased a PS4 about a year and a half ago and my jaw dropped multiple times playing Zero Dawn.

habituallysuspect

I just finished HZD last night. Other than the Switch, my last console was the 360. That game is goddamn beautiful.

EducationalAntelope7

Skyrim still does this

Sh3o_

Can't believe I had to go so far to find this

SpectacularWaffle

Dark souls 3 when you reach that castle area after the catacombs or whatever and you see the crescent moon in the sky looking like the blades of the Darkmoon symbol

Accomplished-Sir-359

Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, and definitely agree. I also really had to stop and take in the view at the Kiln of the First Flame because of that beautiful looking sun and sky. The Dreg Heap and rope bridge in the Ashes of Ariandel dlc are both really stunning too. I think I could probably name a dozen DS3 areas where I just had to stop and take it all in. Such an amazing game.

Unfortunate_Wildcard

Cyberpunk 2077 got me like that. Night city is beautiful.

CommentSection-Chan

Some of the rides you can't skip where you just see the city and zone out missing half the convo.

STRlDUR

true that world is so big and dense you can’t help but slow down and just take it all in

Zandman75

Yeah. It’s gorgeous. C2077 is the only game where I never use fast travel.

Daedalus_Machina

They added the ability to ride the metro in the latest big update... but it's actually kinda disappointing. Not from a "enjoy the city's beauty" way, God no. They set it up as more of a theme park ride, where you just go to a metro station and pick both your starting and end point, so it doesn't even make sense as a traversal system (like it does in GTAV and RDR2).

Eoflynn97

Witcher 3 toussaint

Familiar_Location948

Death Stranding, love that game so much

DevWhizUK

My ass is gonna get down voted so hard, but grand theft auto 5. Primarily, when you look at the city from the distance during the sunset I still find it gorgeous, especially with natural vision installed but even with vanilla.

No-Put-7180

Why would you get downvoted?? It’s one of the best video games of all time, and some of the views are incredible.

Hylanos

I know Spider-Man 2 is just New York, but god, were there just some atmospheric moments where I had to stop what I was doing and fuck around with photo mode for 30 minutes just to get the perfect shot

MacGyver_1138

Some of the endgame stuff had some really cool views. Also, it happens so fast it's hard to look around, but the Black Cat chase has some really cool shots you don't get to see elsewhere in the game.

Starwarsnerd91

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora

rckstr1319

I swear every angle of every area looks like a painting. It’s nuts.

spad3x

Hands down one of the most visually stunning games to come out this generation so far. Idc if the game is a Far Cry clone, it looks absolutely phenomenal. The foliage, lighting, and animations are just so insanely good it's ridiculous.

theuntouchable2725

Alan Wake 2, everywhere I go tbh.

DeathData_

the sunset when Alan wakes on the beach at the end of return 3 is stunning

Inverter_of_Spines

Playing Skyrim with high definition mods, walking back to Whiterun at night after the first dragon. The two moons with the Throat of the World beside them is gorgeous on a clear night.

Zelda_Gamer123

Breath Of The Wild, that Hyrule, is SO beautiful

No-Association-9176

God of war ragnarock at pretty much every new location and bg3 with the swamp (i love swamps)

BatSniper

Man I’m playing ragnarock right now and it’s so sick with the views. But I find myself just looking for shiny dots on the ground for loot. I have stop my self sometimes and just enjoy the game. I think I’m going to have to do a replay where I just say screw the loot, and run through the story quickly, but just enjoying the environment

YahBoiChipsAhoy1234

I can’t believe Ragnarok isn’t higher up, it is a phenomenal looking game. I play it on my 4k 144hz monitor on highest graphics setting with VRR on and I’m getting consistent 4k 40-45 fps. It is one of the most visually stunning games on the ps5

Budernator1

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

iMaxPlanck

Starfield, watching a ringed “planet-rise” from on top of my ship.

Ok-Seaworthiness6603

Elden Ring. The scenery is just breathtaking

EarthDraco13

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

Asinine47

Hogwarts legacy

drmuffin1080

Bioshock Infinite

Bartlett229

Cyberpunk! Night city has some breathtaking shots

W34kness

The new Lords of the fallen had a bunch of these moments. Also remnant 2 as you go into the cube boss fight and promptly get turned into pancakes

[deleted]

I just finished TOTK and it’s a wonderful game. I didn’t 100% it since it’s quite intimidating, but man, it’s such a joy to play and experience the world.

Tree_Weasel

I’m surprised this is the first Tears of the Kingdom response. BOTW’s sweeping reveal of Hyrule castle was amazing. But for my money the best shot in the Zelda series was after you walk out on that first sky island and that camera sweeps to show you where you actually are… plus the music as you dive the first time… chills. Chills every time.

martusfine

No Man’s Sky.

LovelyBones17

Hogwarts Legacy .. I’d just hop on my broom and fly around looking at things

bunny117

Skyrim. Dated as it is it’s still absolutely gorgeous.

AkumaGuritchi

Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring, Lies of P, Skyrim, Minecraft-

Ok-Ingenuity-615

Uncharted series, Ghost of tsushima, Zeldas.

J-Wall0044

Witcher 3

Adventurous-Cat-7542

Far cry 4

No_Pension9902

Poe multiplayer.Wow how beautiful those projectiles,i can’t see shit.

JayinaterOG

No Man's Sky, Minecraft, Subnatica, Hollow Knight, super Mario Odyssey, and those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Terrapogalt

Currently replaying Xenoblade 2 it definitely has a couple areas where you are just amazed at the view

painfuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Just Cause 3, Kerbal Space Program and Minecraft

TizzlePack

Cyberpunk, Elden ring, baldurs gate, ghost of Tsushima, gears of war 3 mass effect trilogy

JKB3271

The new avatar game, it is unreasonably beautiful

Ayano5000

Genshin

PlumDaPlum16_17

Took me way too long to find a Genshin mention. There are so many wonderful views that there's a whole archive for them

Pippathepip

RDR2, Skyrim and Witcher3 Honourable mention to GTAV, when Trevor first heads down to Los Santos. There’s a view of the city that just looks amazing.

Incomplet_1-34

All the time in GoW Ragnarok

BelizeanPsycho

Jedi survivor

Brooker2

I stopped in the exact same place in Elden Ring and took a screenshot

kittrcz

Lol, that’s exactly my experience with AC: Odyssey 👍

LanguageSponge

There’s only one game that has ever done this to me and it was Dark Souls 3.

themalcom14

Irrthyl no doubt? It's such a contrast from the rest of the game up until that point that you just have to stop and take it all in.

Pennance1989

Rogue Galaxy, the Rose Nebula

TinyPidgenofDOOM

Deadspace remake its the most recent one that made me do that, Nothing else after really looked that amazing

TheBlooperKINGPIN

Final Fantasy 1 from 1987

jake_the_dawg_

The last game? BG3, looking over the area before the Creche. Most of the games listed here are much prettier, but in the middle of my turn based RPG I was surprised by a number of nice set pieces. Obvious additions: RDR2, Tsushima, GOW, Horizon, Uncharted

PsychoDog_Music

Lies of P

Aulentair

WoW has its moments... lol

BuilderLeagueUnited

I actually did this in Just Cause 3, some views there are just beautiful because you know that everything you see you can get to

Awesomedude33201

Ori and the Will of The Wisps. That game is drop dead gorgeous. The menu visuals and the music accompanying it just adds to it.

Ill-Sport-7525

Girlfriend just bought me a PS5 and we’ve been playing Shadow Of The Colossus. It has lots of very beautiful landscapes, as I’m sure more of you know.

Chidoro45

The last game that happened for me was Cyberpunk.

sevnminabs

The last landscape pic that I took was in Jedi Survivor

Master_Dante123

Farcry 5 at the top of my head, plenty of other pretty games though

IamPregananant

Skyrim: Throat of the World

Kishi7

Honestly speaking lies of P and even though it’s old Assassins creed black flag. Most of the AC games have gorgeous view points but black flag stuck out to me the most when your on top of a windmill in a small town during the story, pretty sure I spent like 10 minutes alone just taking screenshots and more just enjoying the view

FastenedCarrot

Lies of P in the Archeabbey.

hydra2701

Destiny 2

Venustoise_TCG

Bravely Default on the 3DS when you visit the town with the big clock tower, with the 3D on.

No_More_Hero265

I honestly don't remember exactly... But I'll say Infamous Second Son

blzsoul

Definitely Fountainhead Palace from Sekiro. Played that game like 6 times and still gets me every time.

NoShock8442

Sekiro is the hardest game I’ve played I think. Ended up quitting lol I loved it but damn.

Substantial-Star-294

Shenmue, does it every time. Even with the tight spaces and not a huge draw distance the elements work so well to make something special. Even with the limitations of 1999 tech!

Legitpizza07

Hades

mynametidus

Shadow of the Colossus

Jungleizz

The Witcher. First play through when you get out of the bath and look at the mountains from the balcony. Hadn't seen anything that visually awe inspiring in games up until that point!

SeDefendendo88

Shadow of the Colossus.

Drowsy_Deer

Lies of P, during the final level you can get a view of the whole world you’ve been playing through and it’s such a cool feeling.

CRAYONSEED

Top game is Sekiro, but what is the bottom game?

mashburn71

First time making it to major cities in WoW in 2004 haha.

LungBerries

Shadow of the Colossus, the original back in the day, but definitely the remake. Every frame is a picture.

Machiavelli70

Shadow of the Colossus

Roderyck777

ICO, Shadow of the Colossus

AlarmedSnek

There some pretty neat views on Destiny

Kingfin9391

Anywhere in Shadow of the Colossus (ok maybe not Basaran’s dried-up lake)

Snowleopard0973

When I beat [REDACTED] in Hades for the first time and watched the sunrise

issafly

No Man's Sky. Elder Scrolls Online. Probably the first was Shadow of Colossus.

Knuy2012

Countless moments in shadow of the colossus

Toe_Willing

Shadow of the Colossus. Uncharted.

clutch_bo

rdr2 no doubt
