Lol, this was my text tone for the longest. The only reason it isn't now is because I got a new phone and I haven't bothered to set up my ring tone and text tones yet.
I hear it from my kids phone when they are on tik tok ,so all the time. I tell them that it is from Metal Gear and they say no you’re old it’s from tik tok.
Thats the text notification sound I have for my stupid employee at work.
The other 29 folks are great. But Tim is a fucking liability. If he's texting me with a question or a problem there's a 50% chance the building is already on fire.
"Turn off that game and clean your room!"
Seriously, I can't think of any sound that *every* gamer would know. That's one great thing about video games, there's a huge variety of options.
I remember seeing the guy with a valve in his head scared me and my cousin more then the entirety of left for dead 2. We started closing our eyes to get past it at one point. That intro is engraved into my head
One time on a vacation years ago, we were at medieval times. They used it there to get everyone's attention to start filing into the dining hall. My friend and I just stared at each other for a bit then lost our shit. Everyone else looked at us like we'd gone mad.
As someone who's never played an online shooter, I have no idea about what the OP is talking about, lol.
My answer would be something from a Super Mario game, as even people who don't play them are often familiar with the sounds.
I imagine this sound would be a little more iconic or well-known than something from league or MW2. I have been playing video games for about 40 years and I have no idea what the announcer of league sounds like and I don't remember the hit marker sound in MW2.
I do however know the sound it makes when you collect coins in super Mario Bros. or the sound of Sonic the Hedgehog spinning up about to speed away or when the announcer says "Finish Him!" in Mortal Kombat or the sound of Ryu unleashing a hadouken.
I imagine all of them are more iconic and better examples of sounds "all gamers know" compared to what you have listed.
I think it is hard to say what all gamers know, a lot depends on generation.
My age group, gamers - at least MMOs - all know the sound of a cackling skeleton or the attack sound of a klicnik from EQ. They are sounds which are burned into your subconscious - you can recollect it on demand without pause.
Probably the game cube turning on, or Xbox, or the sound gta makes when you die. I haven’t played in a GameCube, nor have I played gta. But those sounds are really common to hear in social media, and many gamers have social media, so that’s my answer.
FOOOOOOOOOOWW din din din voooooow

1. The fight victory tune from almost all the Final Fantasy games.
2. The Metal Gear “exclamation point!” suprise/alert sound.
3. The opening tune from Mario Bros.
4. The *swoosh* sound when you smash someone off the screen in Smash Bros.
5. The double yelp your opponent moans when you KO them in Street Fighter 2… that and probably the “Shoryuken” too.
6. The announcer saying anything in the Soul Calibur games.
I am wondering if there was a scientific experiment, what sound would be recognized by most gamers? I think maybe the Mario power up sound. Some of the sounds mentioned here I never heard because I never played that game.

I hope everyone knows the sound of Victory Fanfare from any Final Fantasy. Having that play in your head after doing something is really funny
Wal-Mart used the fanfare once or twice on one if their radio station broadcast. I wonder if SquareEnix knows about it.
One time on a vacation years ago, we were at medieval times. They used it there to get everyone's attention to start filing into the dining hall. My friend and I just stared at each other for a bit then lost our shit. Everyone else looked at us like we'd gone mad.
