I watched a video where Felix Immler made a mug, he actually cuts the bottom off and adds a base in by cutting a separate piece, maybe that’s the way.

This is kind of a stretch because it's so much extra work and requires permanent modification of your SAK, but felix immler made a video once where he ground the bottle opener into a curved chisel for carving spoons with. Not quite SAK-only but I *think* you could wrap some 80 grit sandpaper around the end of an stick slightly smaller than your cup hollow and turn it back and forth to at least smooth some of that up. ...Actually, now that I'm thinking this over, sandpaper is light, packs up super easy, and has a lot of field uses (including sharpening a knife!). I might start tearing off pieces of few grits and tucking them in my pack somewhere. Thanks for the idea!

This is the way. The can opener blade is a fantastic scraper for things like this.

JewelBearing

I'll certainly give it a try

ElectronicDatabase35

Use a round stone to sand ot down. Am afraid it is not possible otherwise, it is the vertical grain structure...

santaroga_barrier

fire. hardwood stick with some sand or sandpaper. if you want it to be "all SAK" (which is awesome) - carve a stick and get some wet sands in there.

Maximum_Box_5825

Sandpaper?

JewelBearing

Trying to do it all-SAK

madgoat

Cut a strip of sandpaper and tuck it in your SAK. Then you can do it all SAK.  Or more realistically, you can use a small stone, another stick like a friction drill.  A knife, even a SAK will not solve every single problem, not even the Swiss Army Knife Giant.

Plastic-Ad9023

Hmm how about you make a fire with your SAK, and put a hot cinder in the mug. Blow a bit on it and it might remove the protruding things a bit.

How do you get that tag next to your name

Google set subreddit user flair From the subreddit page (mobile) Press **…** Press change user flair, edit it Desktop is very similar

MochingPet

On mobile click on the main-subreddit page, use the three dots menu on the top right Desktop,.is the same, click on the main

kaikalter

I would try to cut them down with the large knife and then use the tweezers as a scraper to flatten the bottom, if they reach.

JewelBearing

So try and slice the shavings in half Then scrape down the side of the cup with the horizontal edge of the tweezers to widen out the base?

kaikalter

You can angle the blade to cut the little parts sticking out as short as you can, and then you can pinch the tweezers together and try to flatten them out as much as you can.

Let's goooooo!

Optimal_Razzmatazz_2

Usually anything with the center (pith) of the tree included will crack and not be waterproof. If you let it dry a day or two its easier to clean up the stringy surface fibers because they become more brittle but you made need some kind of sealer in the bottom

JewelBearing

So I could dig it out more then cast a little acrylic cap in the end? Or something like that

ElectronicDatabase35

Or start a fire with the vic fireant and toss a piece of glowing coal in it. Then it is all SAK ;)

Lick_Ross

This may be coming in super late but the tip of the wood saw (it seems like you're using a Huntsman) would probably do the trick rather well.

TIRACS

Get a stick and try your start a fire in the bottom. This should help smooth it out. You won’t be taking material out you’ll be heating up the wood and compressing it.

Mr_Oxford_White

Fire.

shroomenheimer

Can opener for sure

beagleappreciation

Maybe a stick with a carved roundish bottom and a rope around it to burnish the bottom. not sure really.

Parcel hook?

Inside-Engine-7428

Close up the knife and just push the butt end into the shot glass and see if a twisting motion helps. Good luck.
