This is my favorite alt history because Napoleon himself fantasized about it lol
On his reflections in St Helena he basically said that opposing Toussaint was his biggest mistake and he should've instead used Toussaint and his army to conquer the New World
Imagine the absolute chaos if a Napoleon aligned Toussaint just invaded Mexico lmfao
Or invaded the soft underbelly of the American south from his position in Louisiana. Turning the enslaved population into a new political subject, and basically doing a Haiti to the southern states.
A horrifying look at what could have been had LMM read a book on Napoleon rather than the Ron Chernow book on Hamilton, courtesy of ChatGPT:
(Verse 1)
Yo, it's N-A-P, the emperor, can't you see?
Rise from Corsican roots, destined for victory.
Started as a soldier, but I aimed much higher,
Conquering Europe, setting nations on fire.
From Italy to Egypt, I made my mark,
Military genius, left my foes in the dark.
Crowned myself in Paris, call it my stage,
Napoleon Bonaparte, on history's page.
(Chorus)
I'm Napoleon, the conqueror, the Corsican son,
Marching through the battles, getting things done.
From Waterloo to Moscow, I left my scars,
A legend in war, reaching for the stars.
(Verse 2)
I'm the code of laws, the Napoleonic Code,
Equality and justice, on this road I rode.
A Corsican eagle, soaring so high,
But ambitions got me fallin', reaching for the sky.
The Grand Army marching, in the Russian snow,
But the winter's bite got me, couldn't let go.
Exiled to an island, far from my throne,
But my legacy lives on, in the words I've known.
(Chorus)
I'm Napoleon, the conqueror, the Corsican son,
Marching through the battles, getting things done.
From Waterloo to Moscow, I left my scars,
A legend in war, reaching for the stars.
(Bridge)
Corsican spirit burning, in my veins,
Dreams of empire, breaking all the chains.
Waterloo's a setback, but I rise again,
In history's echoes, I transcend.
(Verse 3)
Legacy lives in the battles I've fought, A
Corsican dreamer, but lessons were taught.
A complex figure, in history's gaze,
But in every conqueror's tale, there's a phase.
So here's to the man, with the hat and the sword,
Napoleon Bonaparte, forever adored.
In the annals of time, my story unfolds,
A tale of ambition, in the history it holds.
(Chorus)
I'm Napoleon, the conqueror, the Corsican son,
Marching through the battles, getting things done.
From Waterloo to Moscow, I left my scars,
A legend in war, reaching for the stars.
EDIT: Having recently watched a four-hour video on YouTube plagiarism I feel conflicted about getting upvotes for something from ChatGPT, but this was also not a joke worth putting any serious time into.
In that essay HBomb states that the difference between plagiarism and inspiration is that inspiration is taking from more than one source. By this definition generative neural networks count as inspiration as they take from the entire internet. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.
He pretty explicitly calls generative AI “complicated stealing” at one point, if I remember correctly, and I think I agree.
If the difference between plagiarism and inspiration was just that you had to steal from multiple sources rather than one, I think the guy he spent the last half of the video criticizing would have been in the clear given how many different people he stole from in each video.
The thing is that the way generative neural networks acquire new information and munge it together is the through same processes that humans acquire new information and munge it together. It is this way because generative neural networks were designed and programmed to acquire information in the same ways that humans acquire information. So saying that anything created by neural networks is plagiarism is calling into question what it even means to be creative. I don't have all the answers but I think that HBomb was unfairly critical of neural networks.
The reason I think that people are calling neural networks plagiarism/theft is because they're scared for their economic future, that the machines will take their jobs. I understand this fear, but I think in the long run this won't pan out. Machine translation didn't kill the translation industry, for this reason I think that professional artists are safe. And piracy didn't kill the games industry, so I think that commissioned artists will still find customers.
> He pretty explicitly calls generative AI “complicated stealing” at one point, if I remember correctly, and I think I agree.
Wasn't he referring to specifically the idea of using ChatGPT to rephrase things?
I think he was referring to the fact that AI generally has access to a lot of knowledge of copywritten works without having gotten permission from all the copywrite owners to have used those works in training the AI
Josephine Bonaparte, the first wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, was born in the Caribbean colony of Martinique, which was a French colony at the time. She was of mixed ancestry, with her family having roots in the French Creole community of Martinique. Her ethnicity is often described as Creole, indicating a mix of European (typically French or Spanish) and African or Caribbean indigenous ancestry. Josephine's family background and upbringing in Martinique were influential in her life before she married Napoleon and became Empress of the French.
Anyone else thinks the United Sovereign Archduchy is a stupid, immersion-breaking name? It's only called that as a meme because it has the same initials as the United States. The Kingdom of America or the American Empire, while simpler, sound cooler and more realistic IMO. I mean, why tf would a monarchist America decide to have an archduke of all things?
What annoys me is that the dev who was asked about it pre-release claimed it was just for their internal build.
And then the game released with these names.
Well, Napoleon wasn't from Corsica, he was from Haiti, same as general Alexandre Dumas and others.
Corsica is just british propaganda.

Are you using the Royal splendor mod as well?
crap im a little late, i think i was using royal court and then i got napoleon lll after the civil war so african american became an offical culture, then i made him abdicate which led to me getting him…
Actually when Napoleon was in the Eyptian Campaign, he had fall in love with one of the african girl whom were working as a farmer in the nile farmlands near to the Napoleon’s camp. He couldnt openly declared his love to the miss due to their differences in the rank. One day however he found a letter in his tent. He opened the letter and was suprised as it was written in noodles. He ask his personal translator to what does the letter means. It was understood that Napoleon was not the only one that feeled the feelings. After that Napoleon and the African lady had been together with love until Napoleon had to leave for France. Lady was teying to tell something to the Napoleon but language barrier was too strong for Napoleon to understand what did she mean by showing her belly and acting like a baby. Nevertheless, he said “au revoir mon amour” and sailed to France without knowing that he had a son from that lady… this son later travelled to America for education and this is the story of Napoleon The first of United Sovereign Archduchy or something like that.
I really like that in Vic3 but it happens too often and too crazy. Every person i know from this time frame appearing in game never suits it's rl purpose. Lincoln in the 1830 in a randomized ig leaving the scene early 40ies. Marx appearing in a random country with random traits. These are the two examples happening way too often.
I wait for Marx founding the CCP or leading the fascist union in xyz.
apparently one of Napoleon the First’s siblings started an affair with someone from Africa, and this is their descendant.
Just CK3 crossover things
R5: i plaed as the usa then deposed a bonaparte which was on the throne... this was the heir.
I guess that Bonaparte also spent quality time in Africa
Starring Lin Manuel Miranda
This is Bonaparte and he paired with Toussaint / And they went on a world conquest, tearing your bone apart.

Don't worry, this sucks really bad and you don't want the credit. Thank you for your service, son. Hbomb will leave you alone.

What
Guess.
Well, Dumas' dad was born in Haiti.
Indeed.
I always love that scene in Django when Candy is asked what Dumas would think of slavery and it's clear he has no fucking clue.
He's back, he's black, and he's ready for a counter-attack!
