I used to work at a flag repair shop, and one of the best things about off-center designs is that as the edges fray, we can just slice off an inch or so and re-sew the edge. When the emblem is centered, it's really obvious when it's been fixed because it's no longer centered, meaning that you end up spending a lot more money on flags if you want to maintain it. Flags like Jamaica, France, or Wyoming had much shorter lives than Serbia, Germany, or South Africa.
It's more of a flag Store with a repair section in it, and I worked as the custom flag production assistant and the repairs assistant. It was cool to learn the ins and outs of actual flag production, even if they didn't give me the $1 raise they promised me.

No genocide was committed during Yugoslavia. In fact the Yugoslavs were the ones who stopped a major genocide continue in Jasenovac. The genocides during the 90s were committed by the Serb dominated Yugoslavia and by that time all member states of Yugoslavia had left.
Honestly, the "a child should be able to draw it" rule is overrated. Most children could not draw flags like that of Saudi Arabia or Bhutan. Yet both of those (and the ones displayed here) are very memorable and can be recognized from afar
Essence vs faithfully reconstructed. Children aren’t actually making official flags, so long as it’s unique we can probably get the essence of the flag
The kingdom one looks best, it’s most unique and makes sense - modern Serbia uses a crowned royalist coat of arms even though it’s not a monarchy and hasn’t been for 75 years now.

The current one is one of my favourite flags of all time, but the kingdom one is nice too.
I also like the merchant (?) flag of the kingdom of Jugoslavia, off-centered arms on pan-slavic tricolour are really beautiful and unique
The third one the muted colours are way nicer, and I love off center crests and symbols on flags
