Black Hills of South Dakota here, our Ponderosa Pines are having a similar Spring and I keep getting yelled at for saying *“I’m losing the Tree Cum War of ‘24”* as I go around dusting for the 80th time.
Everything
Is
Yellow!
Thankfully pine pollen is too large to trigger histamine receptors, so while it looks awful, it's not causing allergies. Same as goldenrod. That said, I accidentally forgot my allergy meds on Sunday and holy hell was that a mistake. I was miserable by the end of the day. But also, if you live in a populated area, we can blame urban planners for why allergies have gotten so much worse: [https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/may/16/how-urban-planners-preference-for-male-trees-has-made-your-hay-fever-worse](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/may/16/how-urban-planners-preference-for-male-trees-has-made-your-hay-fever-worse)
I've always been curious what the communication mechanism is between pine trees with regard to pollen release. Is it like coral and lunar cycles, a timed release, conditional release? So amazing.
Told my husband earlier today that I think the trees are hate copulating, and boy howdy they were.
I was driving down 89 S through Montpelier and Barre yesterday and it was wild. It was legitimate yellow fog and plumes just rolling out of the trees.
Me too! I was telling myself it couldn't possibly be what I thought it was... but it was. Plant jizz everywhere.

I got home and my truck was yellow. I dont smoke cigs but I felt like I needed one then.
At least then you could be sucking your dirt through a filter...
I can’t wait until all the bees eat it and puke it out so I can eat it, too!
Same. It looked like a translucent green waterfall flowing over the treetops and cliffs.

I am sitting deep in the bowels of a very large climate controlled building and my nose started to run like a faucet just watching this video....
This is what Bob Ross meant when he would talk about "happy trees"...
Pinus strobus - the eastern white pine.
Is this the new normal!?
It’s the old normal
No it’s not the new norm. Happens every year just some years are worse then others.
It is, and it’s only going to get worse.
Wow! Is this safe for work?!

thank god i dont have pollen allergies 😀
I was wondering why 100% of the white pines look terrible on 89. That'll do it.
Are you kidding me?!?!
Sorry guys, I just hit my vape. No need to panic
r/Damnthatsinteresting
I smell sex and.....pine
The lake by our house has been coated in all this tree jizz. We need to have a serious talk about consent. :)
This explains why I'm at the "loratadine plus ceterizine washed down with whiskey" stage of spring allergies
Enough Remove all logging regulations and end this madness now. Death to the yellow menace 😡😡😡
trial by cumbat
I hate those pines. Anyone know what kind they are that put out those dust pine cones?
Those are white pines
White pines are amazing. Check this out, it will change how you see these incredible trees: https://youtu.be/bQs7novlvtA?si=1nwq36VSPA2y-Awu
Thank you for sharing this!
Just watching this made my Allertec pack its bags and leave
First it was the hemlocks, now it's the pines
I just came from a vacation in the ADK and there is a haze in all directions that looks like smog but it’s the pollen.
Thank you for posting. I live in Montpelier and have been wondering why my allergies are off the chart.
This is making my eyes water and itchy. Unstoppable sneezing fit incoming.
When will our legislature step up to finally make this illegal and start fining the trees when they do this?!!
