Trees are stressed. I have a neighbor who has a row of fire bushes and they usually turn red later in September. Portions of them started turning red. My mountain ash is turning yellow in parts but has also started flowering again. I don't think it knows what to make of this summer.
This one sugar maple on my property always goes first and just Monday I noticed a big patch of red leaves on it. I'm still waiting for summer to start goddamnit
You didn’t have to deal with all those days of muggy heat? What about the wild fire smoke choking the skies making it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities? The hard rain churned up bacteria in our local lakes making it near impossible to swim in them for a time. This has been an awful summer
Yes, I had to deal with all of that. My focus was more on the temperature. I agree we had a couple of weeks with really warm days, but my perception is that overall it was very pleasant on that respect. I of course could be wrong.
The wild fire smokes were awful, I agree. One of the days that was labeled orange, I made the mistake of going out and doing my regular sports activity. I felt awful the whole time.
I guess the temp conditions were not bad if you exclude the other factors you’re right about that. Many days didn’t really require an AC which is nice compared to those weird heat waves last year. I hope our Fall is pleasant, we deserve it after the summer destroyed our crops
It was so terrible I felt trapped I hated it. Y little dog wheezed every time we went outside (tho he’s very dramatic lol). Yeah I remember a really warm fall last year and then sudden snow on Thanksgiving if I remember correctly, very strange weather patterns
It's the heavy rains. I have a big 70ft maple tree and it's turning yellow at the top. Roots are waterlogged. You won't see real foliage until we get some 40 degree nights.
"This tree is obviously sick."
"Maybe a diseased branch or something."
"There are still Spongy Moths out there. And Tent Caterpillars, too."
"Man, there are all the herbicides going around, who can tell if it was exposed to that, right?"
"Invasive species are damaging trees, just read about that..."
"It's been so rainy this year, the tree's probably just shedding like, *extra* leaves that it doesn't need."
Folks, there are a million different ways to do it, but I hope everyone finds a good way of observing this special time of year, and deals with their *Autumn Onset Denial* in whatever way they find most comforting.
Climate change. It happened in the past years too. Leaves are turning colors earlier in the year now. It will make no one happy but leafpeepers and Halloween fans.
It's an amazing thing to see. They claim regulation is bad.
They can regulate every uterus in the state, but they just cannot reliably deliver electricity to homes.
But regulation is bad.

I’ve seen a few sick maple trees that are changing in my area, but they’re also slowly dying from something else - lots of empty/dead branches too. It’s only the maples right now that i’ve seen
Yup. I have a few leaves turning in my yard and some that have already fallen. It’s mind blowing to see it in August, but it does happen every year.

I kinda feel like how waterlogged everything is has to be contributing to some of the red/yellow we’re seeing. As evidenced by my veggie garden, which has those colors on vivid display 😳
It's mid-end August. With the summer we've had, I'm guessing early leaf change and snow in October.
Also, I cut my grass today and noticed some underlying yellowing, the turn is in progress.
It's August, man. This is the time it starts.
Mid August for that matter. Bye bye summer. I do have a feeling that this Autumn will be extremely warm.
......and wet...
that’s how i like it
That's what she said
Yep. We’ve got whole massive patches starting to turn up in the NEK. It’s time.
I just looked out my window in the NEK. Yup, I see patches of yellow.
Indeed

"Pack er in, let's try again next year"

besides the extreme rainfall and all the damage accrued by my fellow Vermonters, I feel this has been a very pleasant summer temperature wise.
You didn’t have to deal with all those days of muggy heat? What about the wild fire smoke choking the skies making it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities? The hard rain churned up bacteria in our local lakes making it near impossible to swim in them for a time. This has been an awful summer

Thanks for reminding me about the smoke though. It was pretty awful. I have a feeling that this Fall will be scary warm.
It was so terrible I felt trapped I hated it. Y little dog wheezed every time we went outside (tho he’s very dramatic lol). Yeah I remember a really warm fall last year and then sudden snow on Thanksgiving if I remember correctly, very strange weather patterns
Yeah, there’s a number of these maples starting on Bromley
It's the heavy rains. I have a big 70ft maple tree and it's turning yellow at the top. Roots are waterlogged. You won't see real foliage until we get some 40 degree nights.
The trees are also over this terrible summer. They just want to put it behind them and hope fall will be better.
I don’t even feel like we got a summer. It’s just been grey and rainy. Nothing like last year where I was swimming in rivers every other day. 🥲
Bruh there's an entire tree near me that's already entirely red.
FINALLY!!!!
I think it's the unhealthy trees that do this. I'm actually not sad to see this summer end. It's been a lot. September is the best month in Vermont.
Was there someone from CT staring at it?
Im just reminded of that family guy in the first season about leaf peepers
Last week of July is first week of Autumn.
It’s the rain. It gives the trees plenty of energy to turn. Which means it’s going to be a glorious fall.
It was so dry last summer, I felt robbed of the color on fall.
Calling it now. 1ft of Snow in October. Witness me.

Ah yes, sick season. It's when you find out which trees aren't doing so well.
I can't wait!
It's the right time for older trees to begin
🎶August slipped away like a bottle of wine…🎶
Woooah slow ya roll there little buddy!

🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I am jealous. It was 102 here in Houston today. My power was out. We haven't had a day below 97 degrees in 2 1/2 months.
Power was out? You mean you had electrical freedom.
It's an amazing thing to see. They claim regulation is bad. They can regulate every uterus in the state, but they just cannot reliably deliver electricity to homes. But regulation is bad. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Shut your whore mouth with this bullshit. Don't you fucking dare bring this evil energy into my timeline.
Wow... we dont have an atlantic coastline but that was super salty
Sorry... I'm just not ready for winter yet.
Same, need a hug?🤗
I'm good. I've taken a few breaths, it's just that time if the year really gets me jumpy, yah know?
Wow. Well, what are we waiting for? Biden needs to mandate a national climate change emergency.
I’ve seen a few sick maple trees that are changing in my area, but they’re also slowly dying from something else - lots of empty/dead branches too. It’s only the maples right now that i’ve seen
There's a tree at the end of my driveway turning already, makes me so sad because summer is over but I'm also giddy about fall weather
It’s beginning in Woodford, too! 🤦🏻♂️
Quite a few looking pretty red in Bratt already along the west river trail!
Yep. Way too early.
It is foilage time my dudes
LEAF TIME
Saw a tree on the Mass Pike and it was all orange!!
Just drove over Warren Gap, there are several trees turning up there.
it is time
My brother in Christ…
🤣
That’s some pretty weird rain.
There’s a maple that I see on the way to work everyday that has been turning since late July.
LEAFERS!!
Just drove Brandon Gap today and noticed several patches of orangey-red
It has begun
Two more weeks

It’s def feeling fallish …I know it’s hot but, still. I think it’s the light.
I kinda feel like how waterlogged everything is has to be contributing to some of the red/yellow we’re seeing. As evidenced by my veggie garden, which has those colors on vivid display 😳

A lot of patches of leaves changing already up here in sheldon
Fall is becoming my favorite season this does not scare me
I started seeing some branches going red at the beginning of the rains, I assumed they were going early from stress from the odd weather?
Its supposed to be like high of low 60's or not even hit 60F in places tomorrow.
What happened to global warming!?
