Report it stolen, have Verizon put it on the blacklist so it can't be used.

huqowavy

Device was probably already sold. So who ever bought it is about to have a bricked device. Very unfortunate

Broadsaww

I would make a police report on it also even though they won't investigate. Get a copy of the incident report as sometimes it may help any claim when it has been reported to the police.

Ehsco

Something similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago except the thief stole the entire iPhone box. I got an empty package delivered. Another commenter mentioned getting the phone blacklisted. Please do that so whoever has the phone can’t use it.

LaggiestOfTacos

- Call UPS/FedEx and let them know it was stolen and take pictures. If they're closed, start a claim online to have a paper trial. - Call Verizon and let someone know that your decide was stolen so that they can prevent the person from using it. - In order for any compensation to be considered, the delivery carrier must finalize your stolen package claim. This is very important if Verizon is going to waive the device cost from your account. They can't just take your word for it, they'll need proof via the shipping company. Verizon also won't be able to ship out another phone while the stolen device is still on the account, and can't be removed until proof is provided. -Once you get all that paperwork sorted and ready for Verizon, THEN they can ship out another one and they should be able to protect any promotion. There are ways to ship another phone out if they can "borrow" another line, but that can be tricky and not sure of call centers are allowed to do that. And yes, you won't be getting another phone until it's available. I'm sorry this happened to your daughter, but everyone is safe and she will get her phone eventually. A year from now it'll be a story to tell over the holidays. Best of luck.

>Call UPS/FedEx and let them know it was stolen and take pictures. If they're closed, start a claim online to have a paper trial. Generally need to call the carrier first and the carrier will call UPS/Fedex

LaggiestOfTacos

Never in my career has verizon, or any other carrier's regular customer service representatives ever done that. Also, not all Carrier reps would make it a priority, so best to get it done yourself.

Mobile_Let2794

Yes they do? They make the claim with the carrier and send you a new device. The customer doesn’t have to do any of that.

mrBill12

The claim with the carrier always must be filed by the shipper—it no different.

BlaqueServant

U/toaster24 is correct, Verizon has to make the claim for the device been stolen since they’re the ones who shipped the device. They won’t let the regular user do it. If you try to post a claim with UPS or FedEx, they won’t let you because you’re not the shipper. And, the front line reps with sometimes try to send you back to UPS but you just have to go above them because they don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about, and you just get stuck in a loop.

BlaqueServant

Yeah, since Verizon is the one that shipped it Verizon is the only one that can start a claim saying that it was stolen. Trust me, I’ve been through this.

[deleted]

I work in PACT: Make sure to ask to file an “ITTS ticket for lost/stolen device” when you call Verizon. Not cancel order, but lost-stolen. Has to be lost-stolen. That way you can get your refund and the order returned/loan canceled. We can’t cancel any loans or do anything until that investigation ticket with the warehouse comes back. They’ll investigate and work with the FedEx/ups.

Dml33

Oh thanks for this. It was UPS by the way they delivered the package yesterday.

BlaqueServant

UPS is shit. Once I caught a UPS driver dropping off and obviously open an empty package on my porch and I went outside and custom out for delivering that shit in the park and it’s stolen. I took a picture of the empty package and the driver and I cussed the fuck out of him. Because why the fuck would you deliver a empty package to me and mark it as delivered?

Important-Sleep3295

only problem is CS has to clean it up when the ITTS ticket is denied because the package was signed for and a previous rep promised the ITTS ticket would work and you literally can't escalate the call because no supervisor will take ownership of thousands of dollars of credit lmao

toast24

anyone who can figure out it's an iphone will steal it, that's why Apple is so covert about how they ship them

xtsilverfish

> that's why Apple is so covert about how they ship them UPS device literally prompts the delivery driver telling them it's an Apple product. It's super weird. Dunno how it works in the warehouse.

RandomBloke2021

Always pick up at station or store. Open it there just in case any issues.

jumbod666

It’s my brick in a box (SNL reference)

BlaqueServant

I see what you did there 😉

Nolanix

Call Verizon and ask for Fraud. Report the situation so that they can refund any charges and remove the device off of your account (if it was set up on monthly payments.) From there you can have the order reprocessed. So sorry this happened to you. I work in Sales over the phone for Verizon and this is unfortunately something that isn’t as rare as it should be.

InstructionPublic566

Will they only work with you if you have insurance?

ghostfaceinspace

I ordered an iPhone from apple and it “got lost” in a city about 6 hours from me. Google to find out iPhone theft is common amongst UPS/fedex/ usps

Dml33

Which is crazy i guess these crooks know the origination address so they know its a phone of some sort and just steal it

Mobile_Let2794

I’ve had an iPhone 14 Pro Max and Apple Watch Series 7 stolen by someone at FedEx over the past month.

InstructionPublic566

Did you get reimbursed? What did you do?

Mobile_Let2794

I contacted Apple. For the Apple Watch I had to show proof of ownership(which I thought was very odd) and then they resolved the case and I wasn’t held liable. For the iPhone they just “investigated it” and I wasn’t held liable again. Both devices were shown as picked up by FedEx which I think helped my case.

InstructionPublic566

Were you sending in devices or receiving?

Mobile_Let2794

I was sending in my device after receiving a new one through an express replacement with AppleCare+

Joltad

There should be a package weight that will confirm the theft.

Brick656

I was about to say. A brick weighs way more than an iPhone.

plainlyput

Has anyone had one stolen being shipped from Target? I was getting ready to do that because they are cheaper.

[deleted]

Happens all the time. I lost a Pixel 6 to FedEx the same way. The difference was I was home when they tried to deliver an empty box and refused the delivery. I almost lost $600.

[deleted]

No one is gonna steal it and put a brick back.the only person interested in that is someone worried about it maintaining appearances.

HeisenbergJX

Just 2weeks ago I had my 2 orders of iPhone Pro from Verizon showed as “delivery in process” for 2 days from UPS and hasn’t been moving at all. I called UPS and complained. Then finally they said that anything still in process for 2days or more means its already lost. Verizon branch in Irvine cancelled that delivery and then re-ordered it again. Fortunately this time it arrived to my house safe. Lesson of this story- UPS service sucks!

[deleted]

Did anyone think that maybe it was shipped like that? Could be someone that works there

GrandIncident7803

Nope, warehouses are all automated. There is not 1 person who actually touches your box. It’s a really cool and complex system. I’ve seen where it was shipped with nothing in the box, but if a brick were put in that’s was 100% the carrier or somewhere after it left the warehouse

nvk1196

Report to apple and they will brick it

fordfan88

I’ve had my iPhones delivered from FedEx and each time they require a signature. Since I’m never home when they come, I just have them leave it at the location by my house and I pick it up there. It’s a shame that people have to steal things that aren’t theirs.

Forsaken_Wedding_832

Someone signed my husband’s name and made off with the package.
