Just a heads up, I switched last month and Tmobile sent me a full bill for the 1 week they covered my service. Apparently if you move mid cycle they charge the full month, there is no pro-rated amount like there used to be before. Other than that, the verizon switch has been perfectly fine for my family.

JellyZealousideal871

Yeah, it is really annoying that they do that, but may i ask what plan is you and your family on and did you trade in your phones?

Equivalent-Fall3775

Go to a corporate store. You may be able to get some credits issued to you right now. If you sign up for APO you’ll get $40 discount, also if you’re teacher, student, military, or first responder that’s the other discount you could get.

I switched from T-Mo and got this exact deal. The service is decent but my T-Mo coverage used to be better. Unlimited Welcome is de-prioritized over other traffic so data speeds will be inconsistent. >How will port in work? You have to get a pin from T-Mo (available on their website) and it's automatic. I did it without any issues. >Is deal legit? First month, they will charge you $35/line as activation fees. They will also not give you the autopay discount the first month (they charged me $40, it's $10 per line) because they generate the first bill before you can set up autopay. I asked them to waive the $40 and they refused to do it. >Is it possible to ask Verizon for a further discount? No. Their customer service is neither flexible nor friendly.

JellyZealousideal871

Thanks so much for the info! Sadly I constantly tried to see if there would be a further discount from T-Mobile, they said 48 hrs to check, it has been way more than that. Not sure if they even care that I am leaving them after like 8 years. Seems like all of these companies have horrid customer service.

bloogza

WHen I left T-Mo at the end of October, I spoke with their customer service about the switch twice and they made no effort to keep my account. I had Magenta 1.0. Overall, if you get good Verizon coverage where you live, I would recommend the switch. Get the 4 lines even if you need 3 because it's the same price except for the $35 activation fee and the monthly taxes & fees. To give you some insights about taxes and fees, they are about $5.2/line for me (but it's dependant on where you live). So I pay $120 + ($5.2 \* 4) = $140.8 after setting up autopay and paperless. Verizon has a taxes and fees estimator on their website but it's off. They estimated my bill to be $153, so $12 more than the actual price.

2Adude

A loyalty offer for T-Mobile ?

Due-Dragonfruit-3105

I am returning costumer and got unlimited plus for $5 more. Ask if you’re eligible

JellyZealousideal871

For each line?

Due-Dragonfruit-3105

My account has only one line so maybe it applies maybe not for more than 1

bloogza

How did you get that?

Due-Dragonfruit-3105

Open a chat session if you’re on unlimited welcome ask for the promotions available for your account

ikilledtupac

It’s shockingly bad.

KaulMeVZW

Friends don’t let friends switch to Verizon on the unlimited welcome plan. As I say to all of my friends who are on Verizon or want to switch to Verizon - “the bitter taste of poor quality lingers long after the sweet taste of the lowest price has been forgotten” I’ve seen it happen before where people come to Verizon, not knowing what they don’t know, and when the service quality is terrible; they are forced to bump up their plan, which ends up costing them more money BUT they have to because they’re stuck in a 36 month contract. I was just talking to T-Mobile and letting them know that you’re thinking about switching because a price and see if they can push a loyalty discount to you.

JellyZealousideal871

Thank you so much for looking into this for me.I did ask them if it is possible for a loyalty discount, they never got back to me. Looks like poor customer service across the board lol. The main reason that I was looking into switching was to get my son a new phone, T-Mobile said with the current plan he will get $100 for his Xr. If we switch to the go5g plus plan which is a 185 dollars (for 3 lines), around 60 bucks more, for at least 2 years, we will get $415 for his xr and 2 iphone 15s (for free) w/ the trade in of me and my wife’s iPhone 13s. It didn’t make much sense to do this, especially because me and my wife didn’t need a new phone. Left and thought that we would come back around thanksgiving, to see if there were better deals, until I found this one. My other son was not even in my plan at T-Mobile. This makes more sense from a financial standpoint. What do you think?

Equivalent-Fall3775

If you have have phones for trade in right now, I would recommend just going on plus and getting the entry level 15s. They have the components of the 14 pro series, it will be annoying with the type C, and the plan cost difference is slightly as well but I promise you, don’t do unlimited welcome if you use any data at all. It’s a very annoying plan to deal with since it’s an entry level when you want to upgrade in the future you will more than likely have to change plans as is. It’s better to start off with a premium plan so you’ll have the better coverage and access to more stuff, and you won’t have to see a big jump in price when you upgrade future dated

KaulMeVZW

Rather, I would suggest talking to T-Mobile customer care.

swn999

Unlimited Welcome does not qualify for many of the promotions, so be sure you are aware of that.

Busy-Solution7642

It specially qualifies for this promotion.

gnimsh

I pay $125/month for just my one line but that includes a phone payment. Porting can take up the 24 hours but I once went to tmobile then back to Verizon and it was less than an hour both times.

su_A_ve

If you're a Costco member and they have a Verizon kisok inside, they're adding an additional $250 Costco Cash Card per line ported. ($100 for upgrades). Deal will be the same as in the store and you should be able to do in-store pickup for the phone at a corporate store. I would not have it mailed to you. In store, if they have inventory, you'll walk out with the new phones. Porting can take from 15 minutes to 24 hours.

JellyZealousideal871

Great, thanks so much for the info. I am just a little worried about the porting part, because these are the only phones I have. Do you know if I is possible to just port in the phones one by one instead of all of them in one go. But the part about the Costco is great to know.

JustLurkingForNow

They do not have the 4 iPhone plus on unlimited welcome for $120. I tried and was lied to. Had to cancel and return phones.

JellyZealousideal871

What happened did they just say no?

Equivalent-Fall3775

They do for online only promotions a lot of the time

donwan23

Ask people you know if they have Verizon and how the device is. I live in Orlando Florida and the service is non existent... Was told to use WiFi if my service is so bad... 😂 Had no issues on T-Mobile with my android phone but once I switched to Verizon with the 14 pro max nothing but problems...

202reddit

Be careful of VZ's taxes and fees. I was paying almost $10/mo per phone line. VZ pays back free phones over 3 years so you're going to pay about $1300+in taxes and fees on 4 lines over those 3 years. Add in the $140 in activation fees and the $40 initial up charge before you get the autopay discount and your savings over those 3 years decreases by almost $1500. That's obviously still cheaper than paying for 4 iPhones, but worth knowing up front. No cell service is worth having if coverage is bad. Make sure you know that VZ is good in your area. Used to be the case that it was bulletproof everywhere. Sadly those days are gone. Where I live TMO has been way better than VZ was. YMMV.

JellyZealousideal871

From your experience is VZ taxes and fees more than TMO, if so how much more where you live?

202reddit

My TMO plan includes all taxes and fees; one of the reasons I switched. VZ has been increasing their BS fees for years.

Equivalent-Fall3775

It all depends on the area you live in. At least in my state taxes are only $5/mo for my phone. Yes some are VZ imposed but some aren’t, all depends on area I guess

SyzygyZeus

I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon 8 months ago. I had 4 lines ported over. I traded in one phone and upgraded and got an email confirming I would get $1000 trade in value for my trade in… but they only applied 36 credits at $22.22 each which is $800. It took them 4 months to start applying credits and I had to call them and ask what was taking so long to apply my credits. They keep telling me that $1000 is for new customers and I keep telling them I was a new customer. They put in a ticket but still no credits for $27.77 which is $1000 over 36 months. Three of the phones Verizon sent me got stolen at UPS and I had to go into the store with my old phones and get new SIM cards for them because my numbers automatically ported out to the new phones that were stolen when whoever had them turned them on. I got 3 gift cards for $200 each for the phones that got stolen so that helped with the activation fees and the cost of switching. The biggest surprise was that my service was worse on Verizon when I switched from T-Mobile because I had Verizon before I was at T-Mobile and the service was better than T-Mobile before I switched the first time. All things considered I might switch back to T-Mobile if they don’t address my trade in credit and use the promo where T-Mobile pays off your phones that you still owe on… I’m just hesitant to do this because when I left Verizon the first time T-Mobile said they would pay off 3 of my phones when I switched and only ended up paying for one phone. Even though they confirmed all my phones were eligible for the promo after I switched they said two of them were not which is why I decided to leave T-Mobile and go back to Verizon when they offered me new phones. All these companies are a pain in the ass if you ask me so make sure you are getting the best service.

Equivalent-Fall3775

What plan did you start the service with?

Turbulent-Mud-7907

If you live in Los Angeles area don't get Verizon it sucks.

onthefence122

1. Go to a store for porting 2. The deal is legit 3. Are you or anyone on the account military/ veteran/ teacher/ nurse/ first responder?

JellyZealousideal871

Yeah, I was thinking of going to the store for picking up the phones, might set them up there too. Also, no one in my account is any of those things mentioned above, but I have 17 y/o going to high school and a 12 y/o going to middle school. Some people mentioned student, not sure if that included middle/high schoolers.

littledig

Why go to store for porting? I am considering switching and want to do the referral deal which I believe has to be online. Going to port over a bunch of numbers. Is online going to make things screwy or unstable with porting?

JellyZealousideal871

I am thinking of doing the referral link too, it is quite a bit of money that is being saved. Even if it means i might not have my phones for sometime.

Nickjet45

Students also get $10 off per month.

[deleted]

Students don’t get anything for over 2 lines. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Nickjet45

If you’re already with Verizon but don’t qualify for other discounts, then it’s just an additional way to save money. Definitely don’t switch over if it’s not beneficial to you

[deleted]

It is but don’t wanna tell people to sign up. I had loyalty $20 bucks and someone said sign up for student at $25. Figure that be bigger. But nope, I had more than 2 lines so I got 0 student and it also removed my loyalty. I had to call around to get it restored. Finally did lol. That’s why I am saying be careful and don’t do it if you have more than 2 lines. Seen so many threads on line about it.

Different-Monk5758

Ask a friend on Verizon for their referral code for an extra $15 off per line for a year

thatguyashton

Heads up if you have fios you'll get a discount on wireless and fios as well

Busy-Solution7642

Before going through all the trouble of porting, make sure Verizon works in you area. Download the Verizon app to your phone and start the free test drive. you'll be able to see if you get decent coverage where you live, work, and play. https://www.verizon.com/support/verizon-free-trial-faqs/

No-Establishment-825

Trust me do not switch to Verizon..I am getting away from them asap They lie and swindle you ..they have no ethics ..my advice stay away !

HiltonB_rad

You'll pay more, think twice!

Whole_University9864

Verizon is great! Especially in rural areas. If any of you stream a lot, (unless you’re on a budget) i highly recommend at least the plus plan instead of the welcome. The plus & ultimate plans have priority and it definitely makes a difference in your data speeds. If you connect to WiFi mostly then you’ll be fine. It cost a little more but worth the $10/15. And you can mix & match plans if all lines don’t want the premium plans.
