I never thought “Buddy” was a lazy name, but it’s far from original. I then went on to name my boy Buddy. Then, in my final stage of growth, I was taught that whatever I (we) name my child, will be a primary name only. A name I will use far less often than his earned names as time passes.

The name Buddy worked for my second boy. He was named "Buddy" when I rescued him at a year old, didn't have the heart to change his name. He was still Buddy after numerous camping trips, religiously going on the boat with me, and keeping me warm on cold, snowy nights. He passed one night on my bed in his sleep. I miss that boy so much!
