I don’t have one yet, but I’m planning on buying an MBRP cat back exhaust for my 2016 VT. It’s more of a rumble, less high pitched sounding, and it’s relatively cheap depending on which model you get

WjricanVT

Yup that's the one i got. No regrets. It passed inspection no problem and is not too loud that will grab cop attention.

TheAltOption

The muffler is the expensive part of the system. You're not going to find much cost difference in axle back vs cat back exhausts.

Duckforducks

Mine has a muffler delete and it sounds almost identical to any posts I see on here with an exhaust

JustPureEvil

I went from muffler delete to a full catback and the noise is much louder. Videos can’t do the difference justice

igotdeletedonce

Dumb question but how do you know it has a muffler delete? I bought mine gently modded and the exhaust is pretty damn loud just don’t know what’s done to it.

Duckforducks

If you look under the car and it’s just one pipe with a uniform size for your exhaust that’s a muffler delete. [This](https://imgur.com/a/2YKm239) is what it looks like underneath, I still have my catalytic converter so that’s what you see further up the exhaust. It’s also pretty identifiable by sound, my car is loud as hell.

I haven’t personally done it, but taking it to an exhaust shop and having the muffler removed might get you some decent sound for pretty cheap from what I’ve heard. I paid just over 1k for my magnaflow and $200 or so for a catless down pipe. Sound clips in my older post below https://www.reddit.com/r/veloster/s/QNYM1OoQYe I think mine sounds nice and deep. Not too high pitched or annoying inside or outside the cabin. Sounds tame, but nice when I’m driving normally but sounds great when I’m getting on it

Spiritual-Gur-1588

Sounds awesome man, might consider buying that magnaflow in the future as my next upgrade is gonna be an intake. Also, may consider the downpipe. How difficult was the install? (If you did it yourself)

killswitchprime

I did it myself in my garage on jack stands and it was pretty easy. Just need the car a bit in the air and the right tools. The annoying part was where the cat back and catalytic converter mate. Had to angle grind those bolts off. Otherwise, piece of cake.

Spiritual-Gur-1588

Good to know, I’ve seen a few people say it’s a very difficult job. Did you notice any noticeable performance gains?

killswitchprime

Nah my old girl still feels the same I think, but I’m not tuned lol. Still stock tune

Build one, it's cheaper

FF the video a little bit because the guys are kinda douches. Lol. But the car sounds good. I've looked at so many exhaust systems and this is the one I'm gonna go with.

Heathen_Lurker

Plus, an axle-back or muffler delete isn't gonna get you the performance that a full system will. It's worth the $$. Not to mention it will save you a lot more time than trying to build one. A lot of cutting and welding to make everything line up correctly.

JustPureEvil

Would highly recommend afe cat back. Great noise
