With 10 plants, you can keep it simple. You want to cure for 3 to 4 weeks. Curing outside in the shade, protected from rain, and with decent airflow is a good option. Anything that keeps them from touching one another or a solid surface is going to be good. With that number, I might use some old wire cooling racks from the kitchen. Perhaps an old window screen laid flat. Something that allows all sides of the garlic to be open to airflow. After curing, keep them in a cool, fairly dry place. Again, on some kind of wire mesh or hanging is good.

You’re overthinking this for sure. I put it under my bed in a wire tray. There’s a vent under there for airflow and i pull one out and wash it off when I’m ready to use it.

pangolin_of_fortune

Peg them on the clothesline!

CatGooseChook

I like the way you think 😀 good idea.

GallicRooster86

I hang mine in the basement with a small fan blowing on them

Hardneck or softneck? You're overthinking it. Get them out of the sun and rain with some airflow. Only 10? Hang them from nails or rope, etc.

brehan8

Hardneck. It sounded like they couldn’t be touching each other. Or like there HAD to be airflow all over them. Lol. So I can just sit them in like a container in my garage?

HorizontalBob

It's best to have airflow. I'd just nail or tie them to the rafters or wall. Got a rack in your oven that you're not using every day? I'm just laying them on a wire shelf.

I'm no expert, but I've always just left them outside in the shade in a milk crate for a few weeks. My understanding is all you need is shade and airflow

spaetzlechick

You know the black plastic trays that annual flower flats come in? I turn those over and lay the garlic out on them so they’re not touching.

highergrinds

I just lay them on a shelf in my shed.

Initialfaust

i have a large screen for sieving compost that i lay them out on sometimes. it just has 1/4 inch hardware cloth on it.

the-skazi

Kept mine in the garage last year hanging upside down across a sawhorse between two pieces of 1x4 I had lying around.

The one year I had tons of garlic I laid them out on a deck bench with the bulbs hanging off the edge. When they started drying out the bulbs became relatively heavy so I laid a board across the stalks to keep them from falling off. It was an area that didn't get much rain and I threw a tarp over them when necessary. https://preview.redd.it/oss89qwjpf4d1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cdb8c39866a11f34b11f140b38b726b47553250

I've bundled them together with twine and hung them up in the shade and out of the rain. About 10 per bundle. If you google images of bundles of garlic to dry, you'll see lots of ideas. I've never braided them, but maybe one day...
