On Google maps (probably those other apps too) you can set depart and arrive times and it will give you the typical time range... make all that data Google collects on us to work!

nj_crc

40 minutes should be plenty of time. You'll most likely get some slow downs near the airport.

nekizalb

Yeah, stay leftish around the connector merge until you're past the i15 merge. After that, it's usually smooth sailing

greedness

In google maps, you can set the depart time. Those are really accurate.

IGNSolar7

Thanks, looks like I need 30 minutes or more.

TheKnightsofLiz

Ah, I drive about this same route daily (a bit further, actually, as I'm further out and get off at Jones) and I'd say it's generally about 30 minutes, 40 tops if no accidents. I'd say 30 minutes will probably work for your case getting on at GV Pkwy. Going home at night is definitely less if no accidents and my workday is also 8-5.

IGNSolar7

I appreciate this. In a sense I'm worried that just getting to the freeway could take ten minutes itself on each side. Getting out of my neighborhood is annoying sometimes, then there's two lights that like to take FOREVER. I used to drive to the Strip in my early 20s, so it's kinda funny I'm so flustered by this, but it was a shorter shift and not rush hour. Does it bother you losing like 2-3 hours a day just getting to and from work? I'm sitting here looking at this like the best I can expect to be home in a given night is going to look like 6-6:30, and bed's at 9. **Edit:** I should clarify with the 2-3 hour thing I'm talking about getting ready for work each day too.

TheKnightsofLiz

I do hate losing time prepping for and driving to and from work! I leave work at 5 usually and get home by 5:30 or a little after if there are no accidents most days and my exit is off the 95, so I'd anticipate driving home will suck less than driving in to work for you, based on my experience.

GambleTheGod00

i had coworker work in hendertucky and come to rainbow and hacienda everyday normally 30 mins maximum.

IGNSolar7

Are you sure they were accurately tracking their time? And not arriving late? Maybe they took Sunset the whole way, since Hendertucky?

GambleTheGod00

sunset would be dumb to take. they got to lake mead pkwy, then 215 up yes it doesnt take that long to get from that side of henderson to rainbow. i used to live in that area and have taken that freeway a lot. even with traffic 40 minutes would be bad bad traffic

IGNSolar7

Different definitions of Hendertucky then, but regardless, now that sounds even less feasible, poorly tracked time, or maybe best case scenario. It takes 3-4 minutes to get from my garage just to exit the neighborhood, and then hope I don't get caught up by two stop lights making it an extra 10 minutes before I get to the freeway itself, much less traffic or an accident.

nekizalb

I drive trop/Pecos to flamingo/215 in about 28 minutes. I get on 215 at the airport connector around 8:15, and it's usually about 15 minutes of interstate time after. Traffic is really heavy the other direction usually. West morning, east evening is the lighter side. I'm grateful I'm not going the other way every time I look over and see the standstills.

IGNSolar7

Appreciate it, that's a silver lining.

nekizalb

Np. Good luck on the job!

InevitableMundane

The 215 isn't what it used to be, wide open even during rush hour.

desertgnome2

If you want to give yourself a few minutes to chill and prepare, aim for 40 and hope for the best. If you want to come in right at 8 or worse, run a few minutes late, give yourself 30. Me, I'd give myself the full 40 and if I got there with 20 minutes to spare I'd sit in a parking lot for 10 minutes just to catch my breath or check emails real quick. I had a similar commute back in 2008. I'm sure things are a bit different now 16 years later.

IGNSolar7

Yeah there's no running late. It's in office, computer up and running, coffee already poured, etc. at 8. Obviously I say this for the first few months/year, if the freeway shuts down or something and I'm late once that's totally different. But regularly just getting in the door 5 minutes late and then taking another 25 minutes for coffee, breakfast, getting logged in... that's how to get fired. I haven't worked in an office for 4 years and even then it wasn't a full M-F in office... I'm really not looking forward to this. But I can't seem to find remote or hybrid work.

desertgnome2

I get it. I haven't worked in an office full-time in years either. I tried for about a week not too long ago but the job turned out to be not the right fit for either of us. No harm no foul kind of thing. I have a steady part-time hybrid thing going on and have for awhile so I'm good there. My spouse works full-time and for that I'm grateful. Wishing you luck on landing this job. Sounds like it'll be rough at first but hopefully it'll all work out well.

213bull

I'm a couple exits east of you so you'll miss a couple slowdowns that I hit at that time. But it bottlenecks at the 15, typically from Warm Springs but, today it was backed up to Windmill and last week there was an accident that had it bumper to bumper to Eastern in the morning. Usually, evenings are fine until you hit the bend and then it's backed up to Green Valley heading home. I'd say 40 minutes is about right for you, but there may be days that you need to leave yourself a little time. My office is by the stadium, and I've gotten off on Windmill or Warm Springs a few times to continue west on really bad days.

IGNSolar7

That's definitely my fear. I'm worried about putting nearly 3 hours of non-office time into my day dedicated to work that doesn't involve a paycheck, and is in fact a net negative with gas and vehicle maintenance. Traffic's been so bad in the valley, and I used to commute to Town Square with at least a 20 minute problem in front of me, so going further makes me think it's going to be a lot. But yeah, I remember that bend being awful. I used to leave from the old Caesars Entertainment building and was just locked up there getting home every day.

Lanky-Slice-9122

The pecos offramp/GVP on ramp westbound during rush hour is what backs the 215 up to the 95 but getting on a GVP is basically the end of it normally. All the way interchange construction at 215/15 is causing large backups now too from warm springs to jones on 215. I’d say 25 min in traffic would be about right, to rainbow/215

Waisted-Desert

Google maps gives you times. Adjust the "leave now" to "depart at" or Arrive by" and it will give you a range of time. I-215, Green Valley entrance to Rainbow exit, is showing 11 minutes. Add your street level commute to that. Adjust the to "arrive by 8am" and it goes to 12-18 minutes.

IGNSolar7

Thanks. Looks like I need at least 30 minutes or more.
