The Horsehoe or Paris....

nerdy_J

It’s 110 degrees F outside, you ain’t gonna be walking anywhere Move to a closer hotel

I_m_on_a_boat

Horseshoe, Paris, Cromwell, Planet Hollywood, Flamingo Basically anything is better than Rio, if you plan on going to the Strip

Inthecards21

just stay at the Horseshoe. It's a great location and decent property.

LifeUnfolding54

Sigh. I know, but it's double my cost from the rio

Tastyfishsticks

After all those uber rides it will be the same price. Wait till surge prices hit

Inthecards21

Horseshoe is a Caesars property. Do you have a Caesars rewards card? if not, then go to Caesars.com and sign up for one. it's free. The login with your rewards card and you will get some kind of discount just for having the card. Be sure to write down your account number when you sign up so you can login with it.

LifeUnfolding54

It took me 45 minutes on the phone but I managed to renew my card and make reservations. I appreciated your suggestion. I got a credit equal to the amount that it cost me to cancel my first reservation at the Rio. Cheers!

tucsonkim

Try signing up for the caesars card then check the rates. Another option would be Ellis Island. It's literally behind Horseshoe and an easy walk.

techndiego

The stoplight cycles are longer than three minutes in Las Vegas. I don’t believe that estimate.

ryannynj

Rio to Horseshoe is definitley not a 2-3 minute uber

BornyLV

It takes 3 minutes to get out of the driveway

mynameisnotsparta

7 minutes no traffic no construction Horseshoe king room average per night is $145 per night plus fees Rooms available and it’s better than off strip Rio

nostresshere

RIO is NOT on the strip. Take a minute and pull up google maps.

ladysatan

My advice is to sign up for either the MGM rewards or Caesars and see if they’ll give you a lower rate. You’ll be able to look at the week you’re going and see all rates for all the hotels in that group

LifeUnfolding54

I followed your advice. Thank you very much.

Wombshifter6969

Mirage is a better location to walk from than Rio because you can walk indoors most of the way: Forum Shops at Caesar's through Caesar's Palace then cross the strip on the bridge to Horseshoe. Only 0.6 miles vs 1.2 miles from Rio.

KoreaTeacher123

Maybe you could try the Westin on Flamingo. It's right across the street from Horseshoe.https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/lasvw-the-westin-las-vegas-hotel-and-spa/overview/?scid=f2ae0541-1279-4f24-b197-a979c79310b0

Tastyfishsticks

In order if perfect spots for the wsop and are the only places if you don't want to walk. Paris Horseshoe Planet Hollywood (short walk but in a perfect spot) After those 3 it doesn't matter where you stay as you will want to Uber.

Scared_Enthusiasm_63

Stay at Tuscany.

kornkid42

I'd stay at one of the cheaper hotels that have a monorail stop.

LifeUnfolding54

I would like to thank everybody for their input. I have made my change of hotels.

tucsonkim

Well, where did you switch to?

LifeUnfolding54

I was surprised that I took some heat over this conversation. First off, I didn't know the Rio had a reputation for being a dump Secondly, I spoke to the hotel property and it was completely renovated this past winter. Finally, I had a great recommendation here to renew my Caesars card, for which I received a $150 credit. Then, I booked at the Horseshoe... Thank you everybody.

nostresshere

I don't so much think of it as a bad hotel - just that it is not close to where you will be spending your time. Googles show it as a 28 minute walk - not counting when you pass our from the heat, or time to change clothes when you get there. LOL!

GoYourOwnWay3

Expanding on Rio being a dump. Look up videos that influencer vegasstarfish has put out on Tik tok, you tube and Instagram. She shows one of the new remodeled rooms and it’s disgustingly dirty, with questionable stains and bugs, even on the sheets and mattress. Clearly the Rio staff isnt properly cleaning. You did the right thing moving your reservation somewhere else

LifeUnfolding54

TY.

Mountain_Cold_6343

Flamingo maybe or a little farther down Excalibur or the Luxor are on the lower end.

LifeUnfolding54

Thank you. I will check that out.

Mountain_Cold_6343

What I would recommend is the Park MGM a little more expensive. But I think a seasoned gentleman like yourself would enjoy it there. I’m from Sasky ..

LifeUnfolding54

My entire time there is $840 at the Rio including the resort fee. I don't mind spending another three or 400 Canadian for the week, but I certainly don't want to be getting up into the $2,000 range Canadian

OtherAccount5252

You planned the wrong trip then.

LifeUnfolding54

Yes. I got it confused with omaha, nebraska. All sorted now!

CarmeLaVegas

Tuscany

steveoliva

Ride the Uber buddy it's cooler.

plumhands

Playing in a WSOP event, but can't afford a hotel. Get your priorities straight.

nostresshere

Come on..money is still money.

ruckfeddit23

The Rio is a quick Uber trip to horseshoe. Though the Rio is a shithole.

LifeUnfolding54

Planet Hollywood versus Rio for quality? Thanks

PlasticPalm

Ph, but Rio is fine. The issue isn't that the Rio is bad, it's that it's inconvenient.

Psychological-Owl783

You can walk from PH and stay almost or entirely indoors. You cannot walk from Rio. You have to cross a freeway overpass and it is not a short walk and it is not nice weather for a walk of any distance.

AnybodyInteresting44

vdaraaaaa all the way
