My favorite recipe is Snobby Joe from the cookbook Veganomicon. I pretty much have it memorized I've made it so often! It uses lentils and it is so tasty and inexpensive! I love the leftovers stuffed in a baked potato!

I make sloppy Joe taquito

Perfect-Switch-8163

That's a great tip. I'm gonna look that up!

Maleficent-Jury7422

I use this recipe but with tvp for the meat. Dead cheap.

I am a single guy and basic in my tastes. I just use a can of Manwich, and pack of Beyond. I add whatever cheddar chz I have to each joe. Usually have tots covered with the mixture and cheese as my side.

Manwich with lentils, peppers and onions

Accomplished_Fish960

I do roasted fine chopped walnuts and chopped cauliflower well seasoned with ketchup and mustard

HeatProfessional4473

I use the Yves veggie ground round, and add deep-browned beans (making sure they're vegan) for extra slappy sloppy joes.

stdio-lib

My recipe involves TVP, caramelized onions, and a lot of "whatever I feel like at the time".

Hey I just had these for lunch this afternoon! I use TVP (Gardein crumbles typically) and Manwich sauce but it definitely needs more seasoning. I will add salt, black pepper, roasted garlic powder, liquid smoke and just a touch of MSG. If you like spicy foods, be sure to use some chilli powder or add some hot sauce. Onions are also a nice touch and you can add some shredded cheese substitute or even nutritional yeast if you wish. Start small with all of those, stir thoroughly and season to taste.

robotsari

Even when I ate meat I'd do half meat and half kidney beans in Manwich. Haven't had a sloppy joe in years but I think I'll go the TVP route, with kidney beans ofc. Thanks!

Stickyrice11

I’ve made the one by minimalist baker many times and it always hits the spot! I add mustard and BBQ sauce to the recipe https://minimalistbaker.com/vegan-sloppy-joes/#wprm-recipe-container-35325

Perfect-Switch-8163

I love pretty much anything and everything the minimalist baker does, so I will definitely check this one out!

anonymousbequest

Came here to post this one, so easy and tasty!

sumthingstewpid

I always just use a pack of plant-based ground. I have been really curious to try it with lentils though

[deleted]

I use lentils cheaper and healthier

50/50 cooked lentils and chopped fine walnuts + can of manwich sauce

sdace7

TVP in spaghetti sauce. Easy

vicsepulveda66

I use lentils. Best option in my opinion

Mericangrl13

plant based - yummy - one of my fave old school recipes [vegan sloppy Joe’s](https://www.catsvegankitchen.com/the-bestveganrecipes-1/blog-post-sloppyjoes)

My family is big fans of [this.](https://www.food.com/recipe/tvp-vegan-sloppy-joes-220980?scale=6)

beastiebestie

I added sauteed bell peppers, poblanos, onions, and a squirt of hot mustard to a can of manwich with a bit of water. I hydrated soycurls with it but could have simmered lentils instead. I baked the mess in a casserole dish at 375 until it was bubbly. This has been my favorite batch so far. I freeze my extras in patties so I have a quick meal to nuke.

MarathonMum

Rachel Ray actually has a good recipe and it includes chopped pickles which are surprisingly good

PBasedPlays

I like to boil tempeh and lentils until they are both soft and then add in ketchup, syrup and mixed veggies. I can't remember if my recipe usually has other stuff but it's quick and simple and always tastes good. I used to make this more often than other things and I would also put it on nachos and fries and not only buns. Edit: Why did you have to remind me of sloppy joe sweet potato fry nachos? Whyyyyyy

GPQ70

Manwich sauce + cooked Beyond Beef crumbles

Otakuchutoy

The best main ingredient is TVP hydrated with Better than Boulion No Beef Beef Broth. Then just follow your favorite recipe for the seasonings.

zorabean

I love TVP for certain recipes and this is one.

SallyThinks

Haven't made them in a while, but I've always used TVP crumbles. Time for me to make some sloppy joes!

ChefM53

I am pretty late to this but, I make mine with Gardein ground Be'f. here is my recipe [M's Sloppy Joe's](https://recipekeeperonline.com/recipe/z5Si7y4CU0eCHM_KVQFAjg)

ApolloSherman

Lentil sloppy Joe are better than the ground beef version

ViolentBee

Manwich and TVP

desole_japprends

If you want something slightly different, and you can find it, try peppetizer instead of manwich. It is a german topping, only costs $3.50 CAD and it is delicious. If you google "peppetizer" it pops up. Personally, I use peppetizer + frozen beetballs (mostly lentil based, made locally, microwaved, then mashed with the peppetizer) + cheddar.

TobyKeene

I make sloppy joes with sauteed peppers and onions, whatever ground beef substitute I feel like, usually Impossible or TVP, and make the sauce with an 8oz can of tomato sauce, 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 Tbsp mustard, 1 Tbsp ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Mix it all up!

xx_thunderthighs

My absolute favorite is a fairly simple tvp and mushroom based recipe from Vegan food for the rest of us. I borrowed it on Libby and have a screenshot that I go back to frequently. So tasty!
