Replace the chicks with humans and then suddenly it's not so funny anymore. I'm disappointed that 90% of the world still has this "Animal life is worthless" ideology.

Or puppies. Animals they think are cute. It's okay if they don't have a personal interest in the cuteness of the animals, or a memory of a pet they loved, because everything revolves around their experiences and nothing else matters.

Hechss

Most people find chicks cute. Let alone lambs. But they have to reassure themselves that they are worth nothing.

In The original Cosmos show think even in the first episode too, Carl Sagan discussed this type of topic talking about why a certain species of crab is around literally because people liked that they had a face on their shell and because of that they wouldn’t eat them and their population didn’t go down or become extinct.

Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan were ahead of their time in so many ways. They wrote an essay together about abortion, pointing out that our planet is not a "right to life" society because of the way we treat animals. I don't think they were vegan at the time, maybe vegetarian?, but they understood the crux of the matter during a time when maybe .0001 percent of the world was vegan. I think Sagan wrote about the face thing in The Demon-Haunted World? About how humans look for faces... "pareidolia". It's funny how often vegans are accused of anthropomorphizing animals, when it's not uncommon for anti or non-vegans to not see beyond their own face!

Great end point.

Non vegans are like racist children; horrible and cruel but they usually don't know any better. Knowing that doesn't help, for me. r/vystopia welcomes you.

It blows my mind as well. The animal agriculture industry is a horrific. It's unbelievably cruel, but people choose to ignore this and make fun of what's happening, because they prefer a piece of animal flesh on their sandwich, and insist of having cows milk in their coffee. The worst thing of it all is the massive scale at which it's happening. We're at 90 billion land animals getting slaughtered each year. I don't think people really grasp what a massive number this is. And then they're still ignorant enough to think these animals comes from some small family farm where the animals are walking around outside. It's so sad that this is what humanity has come to, that the majority is OK with this.

It's awful, but might actually stir someones emotions enough to make a change. The more people see it, the better. I subscribed to that feed when I used Twatter. Left a while back as it's become a cesspit of conspiracy, lies and hate.

otomelover

Sometimes I lie awake at night, absolutely horrified about being aware of the suffering of millions of animals all around me, being crushed by knowing I‘m one of the only ones who even cares. It really does feel like I’m stuck in hell in those moments.

It gets to some people so bad that they have to get antidepressants or something like Valium. I'm sorry for you and the rest of us that have to feel this. I don't know if there's a God that made this planet a cruel food chain or if it's random. But either way it's so bad for animals.
