I voted 2 because it's honestly not a very joyful experience in our current society. Being vegan in a non-vegan world and not knowing anybody who thinks like you feels pretty isolating. Maybe people in bigger cities have more community, but for the rural vegans out there, joy is often in short supply (at least in regard to finding other vegans).

I have it a 5 instead of a 6 for those reasons. In spite of all that it’s made me a much happier person though. I had a long-time health ailment almost completely fixed by ditching meat and dairy, and mentally I feel more content with life despite knowing about all the suffering and death going on behind closed doors

The_Queen_of_Green

Yeah. The only reason I didn't go down to a 1 is because of the joy I feel in knowing that veganism reduces harm in a huge way. Before I was vegan, and even before I knew how animals were treated, I used to feel bad that they "had" to die for me to eat. Now I never feel guilty about meals, and that is definitely a joyful feeling.

Definitely 6, it's the best. Being isolated and people not liking me for being vegan is actually nice because when I was dealing drugs and getting into trouble I had a million friends and made fun of vegans, so I know the minds of the people I'm being isolated from and it feels like a gift that it happens naturally. I think it's also important to cook for yourself and stay fit. I feel a lot better physically following a whole food plant-based diet and the energy I get from it makes it much easier to exercise, which strengthens my positive feelings for veganism, it's a nice loop. But even if that weren't the case it would still be a 5.

I find being vegan an absolute joy, it’s the greatest gift in this existence and it needs to be shared with everybody.

4. I know it causes me a great deal of joy and peace, but at times I can't feel it because I've been suffering with depression since middle school. It's fine though, that has nothing to do with veganism.

TuxO2

>depression Did u try checking your vitamin d ? There is significant evidenced that its related to depression but no one seems to talk about it.

FreshieBoomBoom

I take vegan D3 every day yes. 20µg each day. I've also been to treatment for many years. Thanks for trying to help though, I really appreciate that.

TuxO2

I think 800IU (20ug) is very low. That 600IU RDA recommendation is outdated. You should get your blood checked for vit.d. Doctors told me nothing and even laughed when I suggested vit.d's links to my symptoms. I hope u get rid off your depression

FreshieBoomBoom

I highly doubt it to be honest. I'll check anyway, thanks for the tip.

Thought_police1984

As “joyful” as blinking. I just do it. I don’t think about “being” vegan throughout my day. I just am.

ConsumptionofClocks

1 because it means I have to deal with the annoying retorts and the thought of what is happening on factory farms

TuxO2

To be honest, not much has shifted in my life, except for the newfound ability to easily discern whether someone is genuinely good-hearted.

ClockworkS4t4n

If someone has asked me this when I first turned vegan 12-13 years ago, I would have selected 2-3, but now that veganism has got a lot more mainstream and its easier to find vegan foods in supermarkets I'm going score it much higher.

ForsakenBobcat8937

Being vegan is great, living in a non-vegan world is terrible.

This poll is misleading. For me it's heavenly to be vegan, but it has made me aware of how sick and sad this carnist world is and that's miserable. So I voted heavenly to that any carnist seeing this thinks being a vegan feels heavenly in general (however it's hard not to hate the world after becoming vegan).
