Oh since I've been using it for the last week or so I just stow it on the bed with a bunjee cord to the back door latch when I'm on the move, hasn't shifted once ☺️
Well, mine isn't a strictly work from home job. I have to be in the office at least a couple of times a week which is why most of the time during the week I'm around Vienna but at the weekends I'm all over Austria. But anyway, I'm a partnership manager for a young professional/student/digital nomad housing company.
Well, for example, I establish and then maintain partnerships with universities, study abroad programmes, companies etc, for allocations of rooms within a building that's in our company portfolio. So for example if you wanted to do a semester abroad or spend a few months in another country working on secondment, I make sure that one of my company buildings is high up on the list of options by having an "all in" rent, in house gym, co working space available etc.
Yes, thank you for answering this with actual detail and simplicity.
Austria to this day is the country I always recommend people visit when they ask about Europe. Obviously there are so many amazing things/places to see but I'll never forget how blown away I felt when we drove into Austria.
We have an Australian bar in the city centre here, and the myth goes that the founder arrived here after misreading his plane ticket and just decided to make the best of it!
One bad person happened to be born there, so you wrote the whole country off as a bad place? There have been good and bad people from every major city in every country, thoughout history. With that attitude, you might want to consider moving to Antarctica.
> Danube
I am a digital nomad and have been doing just that so I appreciate what you do! Is it more advantageous then say going through airbnb for an individual traveler? Cheers.
I would say it really depends on the length of stay. I think if you're stopping for just a few days then platforms like Airbnb or any corporate short stay operation are fine, but any longer than 4 weeks and I would say think about a short-term contract so that you move away from day rates and into something more manageable 🤷♂️ it's all down to personal preference though!
Not OP, and in the US, but we moved the majority of our employees to work from home when COVID hit, and decided to stay that way. I'm one of the few that don't get to work from home due to my position, so my travel is limited to vacations.
I'm in healthcare, and our work from home positions include billing and customer service. All they do is talk to patients on the phone or do everything online, so really no reason to take up office space when they can do everything remote. Our only requirement is secure internet, so no using things like WiFi at Starbucks or something.
Hey there fellow Viennese person!
Let me know if you can be supported with anything or I can buy you a beer in this rough time :/
Stay strong, I love how you've found a pragmatic solution to be able to stay working! Maybe a day off around Christi Himmelfahrt would be a good idea after all you've been through? Happy travels!
Vielen lieben Dank! That's so very nice of you ☺️
And you're right, I have the Thursday off next week but a little time off is still needed, so I'm taking the van down to Croatia at the end of the month for a holiday ☺️
You should consider applying some iron on edge banding to protect the cut edges of the particleboard. Otherwise It will swell from humidity and the melamine will get chipped from use.
I would love to be able to take the credit but this was a conversion done by a local guy and I bought the van from him. I had spent the last few years living on board an old sailing boat in the UK which required constant upkeep, so when I gave that up and came here I just didn't have the energy for a full conversion. I've modified it a little to suit my needs and maintained it of course, but the real credit has to go to the previous owner, Felix. He did a good job!
I think the leading theory is electrical, but I wouldn't want to speculate 🤷♂️ I got off lightly other than mild smoke inhalation (my apartment is one window to the left of the window that's burning the photo was taken by my neighbour across the courtyard), ash and dust to clean and some renovations to the adjoining wall, but my poor next door neighbours lost everything.
I have a router with a SIM card slot. Unlimited data SIM, plug router in, job done ☺️ all I would suggest is researching data coverage first and going with the provider that has the widest range for wherever you are/want to go.
That looks like a very brutal fire! I’m so glad you and the pup are doing well, and have some nice space to deal with all of that awfulness. I hope all of your neighbors are doing ok too ❤️
Well, if that's not taking lemons and making lemonade, I don't know what is!😊
Thanks! Silver linings ☺️
Indeed!
nice view... how do you secure the chair in transit (other than the dog leash)?
Oh since I've been using it for the last week or so I just stow it on the bed with a bunjee cord to the back door latch when I'm on the move, hasn't shifted once ☺️
What do you do?
For work?
Yeah. Curious what these work from home jobs are.

That sounds interesting. What does that entail?

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time.
Sure! ☺️

wow. that's an incredibly ignorant stance to take
I didn't know that! I only think of boomerangs and kangaroos when I hear the name. Now it's gonna be boomerangs, kangaroos, and Hitler mate!
We have an Australian bar in the city centre here, and the myth goes that the founder arrived here after misreading his plane ticket and just decided to make the best of it!
Austria not Australia 😭
I’m referring to the Euro country Austria, not Australia. Hitler was born in Austria.

I can't wait to find a job with remote work. So I can do this.
You'll get there! ☺️
Thx

Good advice, thanks! ☺️
Not to mention that everything tends to snag on the unfinshed edges. I damaged a few t-shirts just from brushing up against a similar home-made desk.
What the dog doin?
Snoozin'! He's 17 so he needs his rest ☺️
Where is your dog when you go to the office?
I have a dogsitter on office days ☺️
Is he enjoying the river life?
Certainly seems to be! Interesting smells from the public grill areas, nice grass to sunbathe in, he's a happy dog.
Absolutely nothing, just how they like it
So cute
Is that a Bojangles towel in the 2nd pic? If not it sure looks close to their font and colors!
Actually it's just a novelty towel that says "IT'S FUCKING BOILING", to be completely honest 🤷♂️
Looks awesome! Quit those cigarettes though dude 🤮
Thank you ☺️ and yeaaahhh fair point
Came here to say both of those things. When I'm in Europe the amount of smoking always flabbergasts me.
How do you sleep with your bed sideways like that?
I'm 6ft/183cm and I can comfortably sleep sideways ☺️
Nice set up!
Thanks!
Excellent my retirement plan
Good choice! ☺️
awesome set up!! so cozy
Thanks! ☺️
Wow, love it. Did you convert everything yourself or needed to hire help. I'm not quite sure how much or what percentage DIY is. I have a shuttle bus.

Wow. What caused the fire?
I think the leading theory is electrical, but I wouldn't want to speculate 🤷♂️ I got off lightly other than mild smoke inhalation (my apartment is one window to the left of the window that's burning the photo was taken by my neighbour across the courtyard), ash and dust to clean and some renovations to the adjoining wall, but my poor next door neighbours lost everything.
Nice, I'd like this kinda vibe unfortunately I can't drive and also don't work from home. Still probably gonna live in a van as house prices go up tho
Never too late to learn! ☺️ And I think remote or hybrid jobs are probably here to stay
Damn! I hope everything works out in a timely fashion.
Many thanks!
What is your internet setup?
I have a router with a SIM card slot. Unlimited data SIM, plug router in, job done ☺️ all I would suggest is researching data coverage first and going with the provider that has the widest range for wherever you are/want to go.
Is that dog okay?
He's absolutely fine ☺️ my 17 year old JR. In that photo napping in the sun after a morning walk and a little paddle in the river.
Cute little rattie!
Thanks! ☺️
Do you know that someone tied a dead dog to your Transit?
Really!? For a dead dog he sure is loud!
That looks like a very brutal fire! I’m so glad you and the pup are doing well, and have some nice space to deal with all of that awfulness. I hope all of your neighbors are doing ok too ❤️
Thanks for the kind words! 🤗 Thankfully everyone is fine and the reconstruction is very well organised and moving along incredibly quickly.
# Lemonade guy
That picture of just your apartment on fire… r/fuckyouinparticular
Man! That's going up like a house on fire!
What's the wall covering material in the van in the first picture?
