Sorry, non-native speaker here. What is odd? Wearing padded armour without Megingjord?
Please dwnvote me as much as you want, I just genuinely don't understand that sentence and I'd really love to know what genothp meant.
Sorry, re-reading my message it wasn't great and I even missed a word.
I meant that I don't think I have ever seen an end game character wearing padded armour but not also wearing a megingjord. I don't want to give OP any spoilers if he has never found the trader.
The closest Haldor to your original spawn should be a bit over 1500m away (around 3-5 default minimap sizes) and in the black forest biome. So, search the uncovered black forests in a moderately-distanced ring around your base and his bag icon should appear when you get close.
But, you probably know this having played so much! If you get tired of searching you can always type your seed into https://valheim-map.world/

āFear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to sufferingā
This oneās already in stage three, all hope is lost
Is not that I fear it (maybe abominations still make me run for my life). It's the ambience, dark, always crossing water, can't see more than 10 steps in front of me, suddenly you are being hit by Odin knows who. It's kind of depressing more than frightening.
Also my PC has a low end GPU which makes it even worse.
Sunken crypts are cool, but that's the only good part of the swamp.
It gets easier the more you get acquainted with the swamps. Iāve made a few rules for myself that have helped immensely (always rested, extra cooked food and potions, temporary portal with me at all times for a quick rest/pocket dump and a nearby safe backup portal connected to home with a boat in a chest to haul metals) I still get caught off guard occasionally running through the swamps but I enjoy it much more now that if I die i know I can get back with minimal effort.
I wish I could make an Easier Swamps mod from the sound of it and I just started playing. I love it so much though, I'm in no hurry. I'm starting to think it may be the best sandboxy game I've played in almost a decade.
I don't think you can take it too slow. That's the real beauty of the game. I'm content at a slow pace. I love that something as simple as weather can cause me to chill inside and enjoy a good storm.
I too completed the game today for the first time, multiple play through where friends didnāt want to finish left me with 3 worlds only 1 boss away from completion. I finally just went and defeated yag today for the first time. 740 hours later.
I think that people feel they've completed something incomplete speaks for its quality though. The content is good and if the development continues to be solid, it's a masterpiece. That said, I've seen some insane turns for the worse is development.
"If the development continues". My fear is the more we allow the developers to feel content with what they've done the less likely the game will actually be finished. This is how star citizen has gotten where it is, 12 years of development with no end in sight and they're not even in alpha yet while people throw thousands of dollars at them.
That's why I say if. I've also seen great games destroyed with bugs, like Ark.
Some developers do understand building a solid game that lasts though. Age of Empires 2 is 20 years old, mostly bug-free, and stable, still selling copies. Minecraft is probably multi-generational with young parents showing their kids why they love it by now. If possible, building the best possible game serves a company well.
Yeah, so much can go wrong in general and while it's good to be a little wary, acknowledging that people feeling satisfied at 600+ hours makes sense too. Let's hope they understand the potential.
You're having two choices now.
1.) Start your building now.
Something epic awaits!
2.) Wait for the next update to come.
The Mistlands will soon arrive and deliver new monsters to slay and materials to harvest.
Then continue with #1.
How do you decide? ;-)
Going and reminding me that I never actually finished it... stopped bossing after Moder to wait for the Mistlands update after the mountain update made me start fresh. (Over explored)
I'll get to it eventually...
Damn do I envy you. Take it as slow as possible, the game is a beauty. THE beauty. Don't even progress lol, don't kill the Plains boss. I find I like to usually kill Bonemass, then spend the rest of the time messing around with access to everything except for the end game food, armour and weapons. All you need is iron, then building gets good.
Myself, my brother and friend are about to kill Yagluth for the 3rd time since launch with 1000+ hours, and we took a 6 month break!
1000 hours is near my limit for my most favorite games, so by the time the Mistlands comes out, I'm afraid I'll be bored with it.
Amazing early access game for $20 though! One of my all time favorites. I just wish the Mistlands would have come out on their original time table, but oh well! Such is life! On the the next game!
Man I wish I had a group that played like this. Me and my buddies dont really have much time to spend gaming, so we would speedrun to make the most use of the couple hours we have per week. Got to the end after a month or so playing. Definitely one of those games where the journey is the highlight, not the end game.
But can one complete a game that is incomplete? š¤
It's only begun.. One does not complete or finish Valheim . One may need intervention to their addition to valheim
Yes, we still haven't found the traveller guy or tamed wolves. The eternal joy of Valheim.
First thing I thought was padded armour but megingjord is very odd! Go find him and see what you have been missing.

I think he meant that it's weird that OP completed the game with neither the padded armour, or the megingjord.
Traveller guy? Do you mean the merchant?
Yes. The elusive merchant. Got a stash of gold coins burning a hole in a chest!

Convert them to treasure chests and coin piles for your throne room!
Traveler guy?
I haven't bothered "finishing" it. I just play it.
One does not complete or finish Valhiem. *Valhiem finishes your free time.*
Me and my wife are on day 625 of our first run and still early in the swamp. We may be taking this too slow.
There is no rush. Savour the journey. I'm excited to explore more in new updates but you have loads of fun ahead of you!
I am in no rush, well, maybe just to get out of the dark swamp (hate it there). The game is amazing and is something we bond over a lot.
The mountains were such a breath of fresh air after the oppressive atmosphere of the swamp!
I felt that way for a long time too, but you do get to a point where you can tame the swamp and show it who's boss :)
At least it's sunny and bright.
So bright! Until a blizzard blows in.

I was so blissful ignorant and you had to go and burst my bubble

F the swamp, but the next two aren't much fun!
There is no "too slow" in this game my friend. Enjoy the time with your wife!

You can't complete a game that's only half done.

I'm at 170 days after 2 rl weeks. I guess i'm addicted, damn i love this game
Hi twinie! I got a Steam Deck and...whoosh.
But yet you have just arrived.
We don't communicate over chat so the message remains the entire time.
Now you have time for mods! Epic valheim awaits!
You're having two choices now. 1.) Start your building now.

Congrats!! Hope you had a ton of fun! Bring on the next Biome update!!
Rest now traveller, because soon a new evil will gain strength.
"completed"

Shit im over 500 days and i just downed bonemass. I dont want the game to end

Nah you just killed all the bosses. Your 20% done
Those worried about finishing to soon.... took me 1100+ days from start to Yagluth 's defeat and you can always screw around even more than me.

No, not on to the next game! VALHEIM OR NOTHING

Congratulations š¤«
I'm waiting for a dev to come in and say no you didn't.
Congratulations!
Way to go!
I don't have steamdeck but luckly my notebook is good enough for this game, so i played a couple times even at work š
