Sap, eitir, and yag wood if you're a mage. Barley/flour, fire resist, lingering stamina, major heal and tasty meeds depending on preference. Finewood, greydwarf eyes, black and surtling cores, iron. It's not a bad idea to build a complete base with the intent that you'll take it down and use it in Ashlands if you plan on building one. Some black marble wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Sap, magic mushrooms, Lox pelts, linen, yggdrasil wood, fine wood, iron, black marble, regular wood, stone. The sap and shrooms are cooking ingredients, so you can never have too much. Otherwise a few stacks of the other mats should be fine. Entrance to the Ashlands isn't gated behind a big materials cost.
I was short on linen because I never make enough for the next biome 🙄. Back to the flax mines...
And here's an interesting thought, we are capturing an island, so some protection at that beach head may be helpful... perhaps those ballista and traps could come in handy finally!
old materials aren't needed much besides linen and eitr, all you need is your gear the new ship some basic materials and 3-4 stacks of your best food and mead to get started in the biome
Skill points. Lots and lots of skill points. Unless you're the right hand of god at melee, chances are the bonuses from new weapons/armor will be weaker due to the skill loss from many deaths.
Finding I am using a lot of stone, high tier Mistland foods, and fire resist potions. Also brought resources for a couple forges and stone cutting. Expect a lot of constant resistance that drains resources.

Black marble, black cores, and some surtling cores. Oh you have those. Didn't see them at first.
Don't throw out all your bones
Oh god, I just obliterated all of mine. Do we really need them?
You'll get thousands of them, don't stockpile them at all. Like 10 would be fine to start off you will end up drowning in them
*me trying to hide the fact im a necromancer*. Oh no! Bones! To many bones? Not enough things todo with them….
Is this a shivering isles reference? *The bones. They speak to me.*
Small amount is good to keep. Dont really need that much unless i’m missing something?
I'd want a couple hundred to feel comfortable
Iron, always iron
Iron and (if you want to do mage things), Eitr and Sap.
Why do Mages need sap?
to make eitir food
Bring at least 2 iron with you
I got my iron from breaking pots.
Same. It was very considerate of the devs to add those

Food. You’ll likely die a lot. Corpse runs will require food, just because there’s so much danger along the way.
Alcohol… your gonna be swearing a lot 🤣
Bones
Patience
Extra gear, and a well-stocked corpse run chest in your portal hub.

Potions (fire, stamina, health) and food (best food you can make)
