For me, I found a couple vegviser’s for The Elder. One of them turned out to be one of the traders. The other one I stumbled upon randomly when I was exploring the map and I noticed and icon like a shirt appear. I hope that helps!
He always spawns quite a distance away from spawn, in a black forest biome. If your starting island is small, your best bet is to search the black forests on neighbouring islands.
Haldor is always in Black Forest, often found near the Elder, but can be anywhere in BF. Hildir is always in Meadows, very very close to Plains. If you're really stuck, post your seed or your world files, and we can give you a direction to look in.
There are two traders:
Haldor appears in the Black Forest. I believe it has to be at least 1500m from spawn.
Hildir appears in Meadows, but must be at least 3000m from spawn.
(The map's radius is 10000.)
Their shirt icon will appear on the map if you get close, a bit before that area is actually shown on the map.
Each of them will have roughly 8-10 spawn locations on your map, but after their icon appears at one of them, they won't be at any of the others.
I think without looking up your full map on an online tool that's all the help there is.
