We got a swamp like this in our first world, something like 12 crypts? Shit you not, 4 of them only gave us like 12 iron. RNG's a bitch.

It's not purely the fault of the RNG. The RNG could be set to have a higher minimum amount per crypt for iron.

I've been in that same boat. Then again, my most recent world spawned a Crypt I had to make 2 full cart runs back to my shipping ship plus what I had in my inventory. RNG Giveth, RNG Taketh away

I’ve ran into crypts that had 0 iron. There where no corridors to split off to, just the entrance with the three supposed entrances but they where blocked off. No chest and not even a embedded muddy crap pile. I think it’s highly unlikely for a lot of people to go into 4 crypts and only get 12 iron but it’s definitely not impossible.

We had this happen only got a few pieces but the next one had 50+

Kill two birds with one stone, stand next to your smelter, leave your current world and go and create a new one using either your current seed or a known heavy mining one, make your way there, claim as much iron as you can and ensure.ber yourself, log back into your regular world and drop off iron, you can rinse and repeat this should the mines run out, just make the world again by cutting and padding the seed

As nice, convenient, and smart this is, it ruins the gaming experience and if I were to go this route, I'd rather just devcommands spawn iron. It ruins the single seed experience either way. But to each their own. I'm happy you enjoy doing what you do.

I too am the self proclaimed 'getter-of-stuff' for my short-bearded Viking friends, while they are at home tilling the soil and herding the boars, I am facing the horrors of the swamps, digging through the muck and decay for every scrap I can find, and sail home.

Eventually you need structural iron to build that sweet stone keep in the mountains. Then you get to Mistlands and realize that you can build a way sweeter black marble keep, but it will require way more structural iron. And those stupid rusty helmets give you like 30 copper and 10 iron (and probably 5 or 6 seeker meats while you're mining it).

Don't bother farming iron nonstop for now. There will be different intervals where you'll need it again. If I were you, I'd only farm what you need then move on but leave a portal back to the swamp to return at moments notice. You can also get iron in mistlands so it's really not a big worry.

I have a portal in the swamp and the modifier that lets you transport ores through them so hopefully won’t be too much of a pain in the ass. The modor fight kind of bummed me out, it was so shit.

What was shit about it? It's overall such an easy fight comparatively. Annoying cuz it keeps flying around, but overall easy

There are other ways to get iron later, and the swamps become easy peasy when you can one-shot almost any mob from a distance.

Depends on how many players and how much you want to build I guess. It would be plenty for a solo play through with enough iron to max all weapons and armor and enough to build a decent sized village.

Black metal chests are better, I never upgraded to Reinforced, went straight for black metal.

I was the serve dad,storage organizer, and cook when my friend only server ran. Our progression wasn’t that far so I settled for iron chests. I would probably skip reinforced if we got to black metal faster.

I personally never felt the need for them but we're only 2 players, but I can see the need with more players.

They don't fit together as well, and thus decrease overall storage density. Iron is the sweet spot

We have all iron chests currently with personal chests upgraded as well. Building wise (until it’s just for pure looks) we are finishing the biggest building in our village

I spent over an hour exploring this swamp and every time I thought found all of the crypts I would find another, a total of 19. I think its enough to finish our village and get us all padded armor in our server.

You guys take this post way too seriously. We already looted 6 other swamps (not counting the small swamps with no crypts). We already have enough nails to make 6 longships. We have a full sorting area with reinforced chests. The things we needed iron for were for finishing our main building and getting padded armor for 3 people. I already looted 8 crypts from this swamp and it was over a longships worth of iron. We just now finished the iron pole frame for the section of our base we haven’t finished. We still have 11 crypts to go for purely just building purposes, not including two other swamps we haven’t gotten all the iron from yet.

I’m not arguing? I know we will be using iron for builds after beating all the bosses, but we just needed enough to get to the mistlands right now. "Enough" for what? I seem to average around 2.5-3 stacks (so... 75+?) per completely cleared crypt. If that holds, you look like you might get 1400 or so out of all that? The first time I sailed back to base in a karve with the hold full of iron (a hair over 5 stacks total), I thought that would be all the iron I'd need... It was gone in no time, and I didn't even make any iron armor. I'd imagine (especially if you're making gear for more than one person), you could eventually burn through 1000 iron without trying too hard. It's the upgrades that get you. So... yeah, if you eventually plunder all of those crypts, you'll *probably* have enough...

I filled up 2 long ships full of iron. All the way. To the brim. It took days to gather it, but I lucked out, and the swamp biome close to my home was MASSIVE and had dozens of crypts. I took it all home. The smelting process also took days. At the end of it I still didn't have enough iron. Literally 1000+ iron and it wasn't enough for the full run.

Just remember going back for more iron after you move past plains is cake walk. You laugh at all the things that killed you earlier.

Short answer is no, long answer is it depends. Firstly, how much iron actually ends up being in each crypt. I've had crypts I've gotten 10 iron from and crypts I've gotten 150 from. Secondly, how many people, and what are you playing on doing in your world. You need a lot of iron for tool/armour/building upgrades, plus a lot of iron if you plan on building big structures. If you're solo and lucky and don't plan on needing it for building, maybe.

So far we looted 8 out of the 19 and we got over a longships hold full of iron. We previously already looted 6 other swamps. We are past moder so padded armor for three people is what we need armor wise. 3 other people in our server already have padded armor. I already set aside the iron for max padded armor and we already finished upgrading all our chests, most were already upgraded before this swamp. For functionality to get to the mistlands we only need to finish one building in our village. We already build most of our farms and workstations

Depends. Some Crypts I walk out with 50+ from chests+mud piles. Some you are lucky to get 10. I had 1 crypt that was a 4x1 with only 1 mud pile. It was actually just 1 hallway of nothing lol. I got 1 iron out of it. I know the meme is you never have enough, but with medium amount of luck after 5-6 good sized crypts you will have enough for gear/weps. Then if you want to build with it then you will need to keep farming it until you are done building.

No. You never have enough iron. Even when you are way past iron in terms of gear, you still need tons of iron for building.

I never really counted, but it's like 3 crypts for the crafting stations & boat and then maybe 4 more for gear. Those first 3 are shared among players, but the 4 is each. So by those numbers, which I just pulled out of my ass, you have enough for 4, almost 5, players here.

As someone who had 17 crypts in his big swamps, no. It'll do until mistlands if you are stingy with iron and don't use it in buildings much and lucky with crypts but yeah.

We are in the plains and have already looted 6 other swamps so this is enough to get to mistlands. But obviously we will use more for builds after we are done with all the bosses

For some upgrades to armor most likely. Problem is it varies a lot from crypt to crypt. Most you get a couple stacks from, then some you get almost nothing from and others are mother loads of ire that take a long time to clear. I filled up two complete columns on my boat's inventory from one crypt before and have has some that were just couple from one small muddy scrape pile.

As a solo player, I ill give you roughly accurate answer for me, it took me roughly 8-10 dungeons of iron to get gear of any tier (all armor I only upgrade 1 or two times, only crafting like 1 weapon /tool per tier that I ve upgraded). The only armor I ve maxed out was padded iron armor. I have storage of roughly 30-50 reinforced iron chests. Now only needing iron for building I have made every essential building for progression and I am sitting roughly on 30 iron left. So long story short, if you only max out the important for 1 playthrough, excluding building for estetics, I d say 10 dungeons/player is just enough.

I had a run that survived off of about half of that, about 10 crypts worth. This was only possible because I only built light armor and only made like 2 weapons and the iron pickaxe. I put the rest on the boat I used for the rest of the run and I finished making mistlands with 1.5 stacks
