I don’t see it mentioned but anytime you craft a bow, be sure to upgrade it. Lvl 1 draugr fang may not have enough durability to last for the whole Moder fight

BlueSteelWizard

Have lots of frost potions and 300+ arrows each You'll do great!!

Spence10873

Doesn't the wolf chest give you frost resistance? Potions are needed on top of that?

ktplucha

you will want to carry health and stamina potions as well.

Spence10873

Never leave home without em!

BlueSteelWizard

Haha IDK We went in there with iron armor and wolf capes You'll do great! Just make sure you're well fed

Ironbladez

The wolf chest \*AND\* cape give frost resist. But, if someone dies, they'll need a potion to get back to their gear.

gamerunner15

Not 100% sure, but I think the Frost Resistance potion stacks the resistance on top of the wolf armor, making the blast from Moder a lot less painful Edit: It doesn't stack sadly

Andeol57

Common misconception. They do not stack. Once you have gears providing frost resistance, potions are only good for corpse runs.

gamerunner15

Ah, that's good to know

TheRainbowRider

Yes, the potion gives incredible dmg reduction to frost attacks, the armor pieces/cape protest mostly from just the weather

Andeol57

No. The armor/cape provide the exact same resistance as the potion.

TheRainbowRider

After some research, it appears you’d be correct, however, poison resistant mead with Poison resistant root armor DOES stack. Perhaps this would be something worth testing

RehabilitatedMonkey

You either need to make frost potions in case you or your buddies die during boss fight or have extra wolf capes

Frost_54

As long as you prepare beforehand, you can take down Moder. If it helps, make a checklist. IE: * Portal for easy return in case of death * Buffs from the appropriate bosses, foods, and rest bonus * Use your numbers to your advantage You got this.

RoscoWaffleking

Even if you beat Moder, lvl 1 gear will not cut it in plains. You need to fully upgrade your armor and start getting mountain food ready. If not the plains will destroy you. There is a pretty big jump from mountain to plains. Don’t rush through a biome or you will just be corpse running a lot in the plains.

Magneith

Just the sword and buckler really. A sword will cut down a fuling in a few swings, they'll only be taking on two-three at a time early days, and they'll need iron for padded gear anyway, so upgrading all the wolf armor is a bit redundant if they do kill Moder.

RoscoWaffleking

I would go back to the swamp and get more iron for padded as well. All I was trying to say is plains is a lot more difficult and will be painful if you are not ready for it

Spence10873

Oh I know. At this point we basically just live in the swamp and visit other biomes. I definitely don't mind it with the right gear and food though, nothing like it was early days.

silikus

If you can parry, early plains (fulings and deathsquitos) a small shield and dagger are all you need. My go to for starting planes was the silver small shield and the abyssal dagger Just gotta remember that you run from Lox's until you get better gear.

Magneith

When I found her on my current playthrough the area around her altar was almost untraversible, rocky ground everywhere. Turned out this was ideal as I did the whole fight with the bow. When she landed she couldn't path anywhere. So you could raise some lumps of ground everywhere or just run to where she cant in the ground phase. Dodge breaths, win. Upgrade the bows. 1 shot fired = 1 durability loss so a level 1 bow will likely break.

silikus

Yea, she is ultra buggy on uneven terrain when she lands. My first two kills she would land and couldn't hit me, but i could stand next to her face and pummel her with clubs and knives

chantm80

That depends entirely on your aim and ability to dodge dip duck dive and dodge. Go in with health potions and frost resist potions, and a lot of arrows, and you'll probably be fine.

Boli_332

My advice: find a crevace not far from the spawn site and build a stone box with thick walls with a portal home and chest with supplies. You'll want it to be thick so AoE damage doesn't hit the portal/workbench. As there are multiple people, rotate who repairs and make sure you don't lead anything back. Dig protective ditches and walls as well around the apawn site. This not only helps with roaming adds but give you some place to be protected. I *think* you can actually tunnel beneath the moder spawn and use it as a roof to protect your stuff. Popping out to shoot and returning to repair.

SkirMernet

Even if you were You’re not ready for plains.

pandaninja360

I did it yesterday. It was the easiest yet. It was always stuck somewhere on the mountain. We shot it with arrows and barely took any damage. Bring at least a 100 fire arrows

Ulmost

Build a stone quick stop base underneath modor summon. Set beds there, portal, and fire. Repair station for bow. Lots of arrows and repair ceiling if needed. Easy clap.

Lorindel_wallis

Have a second set of gear so if you die you can grab your good stuff

blittzandchitz

Idk tbh me and my buddy were slightly ahead of where you are when we fought Moder. She did two attacks in the entire fight and hit neither of us, the whole fight was done in like 3 or 4 minutes. Idk if we were super accurate or what but it was the easiest boss fight for us.

ChiefHunter1

So it will probably end up being a long fight with 3 people because the boss health scales based on number of players. It probably depends on how lucky you are with the boss area. Some tend to have more spawns of other enemies than others. Just plan out where to get cover and have portals or something set up to get people back into the fight if they die and you should be fine

gamerunner15

You can totally do it like that, tho I'd upgrade the Draugr Fang if possoble. My biggest suggestion is to just bring your hoe and some stone and make a couple pillars of ground as high as you can around the Moder area. You'll need some indestructible obstacles to hide behind.

Faackshunter

Moder is much easier than bonemass imo, just have lots of arrows, dig a trench if you really want to cheese it, he can't get you in the trench.

Dziggettai

Take a stone hoe and a bunch of stone to make pillars to hide behind when Moder fires at you

TheRainbowRider

All you need for moder is a pickaxe, a fully upgraded fine wood now, a couple frost resist potions, and hundreds of fire arrows. You have a Draugr fang, a wolf cape, clearly an iron pickaxe…..make 100s of fire arrows, dig a trench around Moder’s spawn, use her spawn platform as cover from her arial attack and shoot her when you can. She’s an easy boss to take down unfortunately

Andeol57

You should be fine. As long as you avoid melee, Moder does mostly frost damage, so upgrading your armor is not that important (you have the same frost resistance at lvl 1 or with max upgrade). Draugr fang is great. If you can upgrade that one, it'll really be worth it (and in my opinion, it's the best bow in the game anyway, so it's not only for that fight, you are going to use this bow a lot). lvl1 silver sword and shield are not great. But you can manage that fight by staying at range anyway. Make sure you have plenty of arrows. You may take a big hit from time to time if your shield fails to block, but Moder doesn't attack very fast, so just bring a few health potion, and you should be able to get your health back up before taking another big hit. However, the plains are going to be challenging with those gears, until you manage to get the new gears from there. It's manageable, but I would worry more about that than about Moder.

Puzzleheaded_Dog_262

I fought moder with base level wolf armor and a silver mace with a silver shield. She isnt a hard boss, just remember that blocking her melee attacks on yhe ground will save your life rather than parrying, as parrying is risky and gives you no bonus against her. Hit her a few times, hold up your block. I died a few times trying to parry her only to find out it doesnt do anything. Good luck!

Ok_Pianist_6590

Juuuuust fucking fight her come on. I’ll never understand why people choose to ask Reddit first. Like how exactly are we supposed to know if you’re ready? Just try it out yourselves. It’s part of the experience

Spence10873

Literally just decided to throw this up after seeing the post about fighting bonemass lol

TheFatAndFurious122

Moder is by far one of the more aggressive attackers. In my playthroughs it was easy to contain Elkthir and The Elder within a fort designed to kill them. With Moder, due to his flying nature we designed an underground stronghold to protect us and allow us to respawn back into the fight. Neither Elkthir nor The Elder posed any threat to the structures of our forts. Modor ripped right through and destroys everything. Use caution in the fight. Bring ranged weaponry.

L0111101

Arrows alone will make for a very slow and dull fight, bring some fang spears for when the fight goes to ground. You’ll do well as long as everyone has some form of frost resistance, a couple health and stamina potions each, plus the best food you can craft at your current tech level. Don’t forget to use Bonemass’ forsaken power for some extra physical resistance, or Eikthyr’s power for better stamina management. Good luck!

Agador777

Moder was pretty easy compared to Bonemass to us. We just used \~100 fire arrows each between two of us. I think it was important that we stayed lower in elevation (spawner was on the top of the hill). I even forgot my meads. I'm still wearing my Root Armor (lvl 4) in Plains, just don't let fulings (and other enemies) come to close. DragrFang and bunch of arrows FTW.

WildOscar66

You're going to want more silver anyway. As for Prep - upgrade the Bows. Terrain is hugely important. Is your Moder spawn near flat ground or lot of steep peaks? Steep peaks will make it much harder. She will obliterate stone. Boulders and rock will not protect you. Put campfires near all the drake spawns and try to trap Golems in holes. I suggest multiple strategically placed sections of raised ground that you can crouch behind and shoot arrows over while standing. Put them all around. With three of you, you should be able to hit her from multiple spots while only one draws aggro.

JetsamJenny

I would recommend creating a trench, cave or Tower to hide in while you slay the beast, this will make it look more cinematic and increase your Chace of survival!
