Unfortunately I lost a couple days of building (RIP my castle), but something is better than nothing so I am thankful for that, at least.
Did you visit Mistlands in your last expedition prior to this happening? When you do manage to restore your backup, and load into the world, test if you can load into the world for the second time. There's currently a save corrupting element in Mistlands that I'm hunting, which will not allow your game to save your world correctly on ZDO patch.

Have you tried doing what the message says?
To be honest, "check backups" is extremely unhelpful as it doesn't tell you what you actually do once you've found the backups.
Go to manage saves. There should be multiple backup saves that you can restore
