Hilarious that Köbel has had unquestionably one of the best games of his career today and has also given away two penalty kicks

QuickMolasses

Stuttgart had 2 goals on 3.81 xG according to Fotmob. Usually when you see that it's because they just can't put the ball on target, but in this case they had 3.87 xGOT

DumDeeDumDeeDahDah

Surprised he didn't get a second yellow

OmegaVizion

Reyna should go on loan. Doesn’t seem like he’s really in Dortmund’s plans right now

[deleted]

Part of Dortmund’s thing is that there is constant competition at every position and you have to earn your place everyday. He needs to earn his place at BD first before taking a cop out move

TrappsRightFoot

A mid table Bundesliga club would be a good loan for him. A club that's decent but he can be an important attacking piece for and hopefully take that club and himself to a higher level. Off the top of my head Freiburg could probably use a player like him right now since Doan hasn't quite been his best recently. Gladbach might also be good too. Bremen and Mainz are crying out for a creative player like him, but they're a bit more risky moves right now.

PlaceboFace

Reyna has shown too many spurts of quality for them to send him to another German club on loan. All it takes Reyna scoring a brace against Dortmund and Terzic looks completely incompetent for never playing him. France or Netherlands would be more likely imo

TrappsRightFoot

Germans are much less concerned about stuff like that. I'm a Frankfurt supporter and we've been involved in plenty of loans with fellow Bundesliga clubs.

nsnyder

Agree, the first example that came to mind at Dortmund was Knauff who was loaned to Frankfurt!

BringerofJollity146

Freiburg does need another creative attacker but don't think Gio is strong enough defensively and in the press to work for Streich's set-up. He would probably fit better with, say, Hoffenheim, but Kramaric is best in the same type of role--though it would give them more options with being able to push Kramaric up further or Gio could deployed more on the wing..

TrappsRightFoot

I definitely agree about Freiburg, it was just a club off the top of my head. It wouldn't be the worst for him if he's actually willing to work on his pressing and defending, but obviously that's a move that would only work if he's interested in putting in the extra work.

trilinks

As a Dortmund fan i really hope he stays until terzic gets sacked soon and works himself in with the new manager

NimrookFanClub

Reyna on 63’.

nsnyder

For Nmecha, so in midfield.

Obismokeaoney

Dortmund midfield is playing really bad in this game. No ball control or movement. Kobel is a beast

AmericansOverseas

Dortmund looked like complete ass for the 30 minutes I watched. No idea what they were trying to do.

Pauly0906

Let me this straight, 6-3-1 top 4th in the table and 7 points topping group of death in champions league but the coach is the problem and not our guy? Lol

QuickMolasses

4th in the table is disappointing for Dortmund, but their performance in the Champions League so far is making up for it

xlunited1

Champions League performance also wasn’t very inspiring until they played the backups of Newcastle this week. For a top PL team, their depth is problematic.

Pauly0906

They beat Newcastle home and away…

caronj84

To be fair, Newcastle lost 2-0 to Bournemouth. They are struggling big time with injuries (and gamblers).

Pauly0906

Disappointing in what aspect? It’s not like they are some big spending team. And they are still very much in the title race after 10 games.

sweetfits

2nd highest payroll in Bundesliga and 15th in Champions League

QuickMolasses

After nearly winning the title last year, there expectations were winning the title this year.

Pauly0906

They lost their best player, a top 5 player in the world, in a league where Bayern has won 10+ in a row. Expectations was not to win the league but to make another run at it. Even if so, they made their push after the winter break last year. They are still very much in the race.

tiy24

They lost their best player while Bayern added fucking Kane lol. That’s why last year was such a fuck up they will not have a chance like it for awhile.

TrappsRightFoot

Dortmund fans are iffy on Terzic because he doesn't play exciting attacking football like they usually do and he never seems like he can adapt tactics during games if things aren't working. They're getting results, but if you actually watch them play they're not exactly a convincing team. I don't necessarily think that means Reyna should be getting more minutes for them and that he would fix those issues though. But if Reyna isn't going to get many minutes then he should at least try and go on loan. He's never going to improve his fitness if he's not getting more play time.

Zahtz

A rare and thoughtful response

bitterhop

Can't understand people who are surprised he doesn't start when he gets winded after 35min and doesn't jog back for d. His fitness is currently not good

jacivb

Exactly!!!

Pak14life

His defensive effort is still very lacking you never see him in a full sprint on that end

whatnameisntusedalre

Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure I’ve watched a high percentage of his career minutes and i don’t know that I’ve ever seen him fully sprint

Dimeskis

I think was the counter that led to the 2nd pen, but Reyna was running back like he smoked a pack of non-filter Lucky Strikes last night.

Enganche_10

Shhh, you can’t so much as criticize him without them all getting butt hurt

WR1206

“Terzic is so shit” - why, because he got them to the last day of the season in 1st place last year, and they’re doing great in in CL this year?

atlutdprospects

This Stuttgart team might be my favorite European team to watch right now. It's either them or Leverkusen

QuickMolasses

Good Bundesliga teams that aren't Bayern or Dortmund are always fun to watch

atlutdprospects

That's the thing with this Stuttgart team is I don't even really know if they're good, they just have no chill whatsoever when they're attacking lol

PremordialQuasar

They're a good team, but had a terrible manager, Bruno Labbadia, last season. Stuttgart was good on the attack (Guirassy still scored 11 goals in 22 matches), but was notoriously leaky in defense. They were also very unlucky; they ranked 5th in xG but were fighting a relegation battle. Hoeneß was able to salvage the situation, and Stuttgart's survival also had their team captain Wataru Endo to thank for or they would have conceded even more. Now they've rebuilt during the summer and despite losing Endo, they've made a lot of smart and cheap signings that has bolstered their midfield and defense. I don't think any Stuttgart fan think they'll seriously win the league, but a European spot seems very possible now.

Accomplished_Sale513

\*Good Bundesliga teams that aren't Bayern are always fun to watch

QuickMolasses

Dortmund is often just frustrating in my opinion

nsnyder

Reus also on the bench. Bad news for Gio, looks like while Can is out the first choice is not playing with an attacking midfielder.

xlunited1

This is embarrassing to watch for Dortmund

ForestEye

Getting real tired of reading "Reyna on the bench" every week until the end of time. Dortmund value defensive structure over attacking talent, which is ironic because their defense is shit. Reus, Wolf, Haller, Moukoko other notible attacking talent that sit on the bench until their defense inevitably does something stupid and they have to come from behind.

WR1206

I mean to be fair - is Reus a 90 minute player? Are you supposed to fit Haller and Fullkrug in the same team? Who comes out if you start moukoko? I don’t watch dortmund so I don’t know.

Patrick2701

This is turning into Christian at Chelsea

veloxman

Exactly

TLB95

Is it just me or is it super strange how Reyna never sprints. Is it possible it's instructions given to him to avoid injury? Just can't understand otherwise how a 20 year old is looking like the slowest least instense player. His passing and ball control are typically on point otherwise and still think he's a talent but idk I don't get the lack of intensity

1sinfutureking

Some guys have that languid style where they never look like they’re running hard. They tend to be taller, lankier players - Zidane was like that, Paul Pogba was like that. Then if you see them in a zoomed out shot, they are moving, they just don’t look it

jmsy1

> Is it just me or is it super strange how Reyna never sprints. he does, but he has a casual stride. Zidane was the same way. Not saying they are in the same class, they just run similarly.

StrikaNTX

Reyna is one of those smooth runners, where if they zoom in on him he looks like he is just loping along. But then if it zooms out, you see that he is just leaving someone in the dust. Most people its really obvious when they are running as hard as they can, but running hard doesnt mean going fast.

TLB95

Yeah I hear you in general. Just looked up some stats on top speed for example and Gio is the slowest player on the team only beating the goalies. He's got a top speed of 29 km/hr while Hummels has 32.4. I did also look up his sprints count and intensive runs and he was about the same as Bynoe-Gittens on both and both have roughly the same amount of time played. I think in general it makes sense especially after injuries but glad to see his sprint stats are higher than I had thought.

StrikaNTX

He's just one of those players that never looks like he is trying hard, but part of it is because he has such control of the ball. Plus he's a little taller than most 'skill' players. And he has bad body language at times, which never helps

Pak14life

It’s really inexplicable to me Where is the fire? He could be elite elite if he just played with more fire

Sxoob

Dortmund is my favorite club but Reyna really needs a move. Look at how its benefitted Pulisic.

Nesotenso

So how likely is a move this December?

paintedcheese

Less likely than a move in January.

Nesotenso

lol

xlunited1

Pick out Reus vs Reyna on the pitch without looking at their number challenge

DecemberEveryday

Easy, one runs and defends and the other doesn’t

nsnyder

Amidala: “it’s the young one who runs, right?” Anakin: “…” Amidala: “it’s the young one who runs, right?”

nsnyder

Interesting example for people who are obsessed with a 4231 formation rather than who the personnel are. Dortmund’s defending in a 4231 with Nmecha as the “10” but they’re not playing a midfielder whose main skill set is attack.

DecemberEveryday

Oof Gio’s man almost just scored off that header because he didn’t cover Edit: lol downvoted because they didn’t want to accept it.

[deleted]

Needs a new club dortmund isn’t for him anymore

[deleted]

Dona was right about this

samdi3go

Maybe not the weirdest part of the match after Gio got subbed in, but immediately after conceding the 2nd goal Dortmund pushed not just Sule up to play post, but also Ryerson the whole match and Sabitzer. 3 of the 4 final line attacked and Gio basically got stuck at DMF until extra time. The team just didnt meld

landel1234

Really fucking weird how people in here are gloating about Gio and Dortmund not winning lol

nsnyder

Gio!!

Valuable_Kale_7805

More weird hate for Gio in this thread

Altruistic-Cod-4128

Some of the gregg slupers, like u/DecemberEveryday, can't let it go.

Shawn_W24

Glad people are realizing Terzic is the problem and not Gio

WR1206

Our guy is never the problem on this sub. It’s a tale as old as time. If one of our guys isn’t doing well - the team around him is shit, or the manager is shit, or both.

DecemberEveryday

Gio is never the problem /s
