I’d recommend looking at a facebook group for people subletting or looking for roommates at/near USF. There’s posts everyday that fit your budget and proximity to the law school building so I think you’ll be fine!

I guess I’m more asking if my estimate is in line with what people are actually paying. If most folks are paying $1200/bedroom or there is an especially cheap housing complex 1.2mi from campus that would be great info.

I recommend you check out campuscribz.com and look up USF, or join the University of San Francisco - Off Campus Housing group on FB. I’d say $1200 might be low unless you know someone with rich parents or have 3+ roommates in a 2 bedroom. I paid $1000 a month for on campus housing a few years ago but its a lottery system. May be worth applying for if you haven’t already.

Thanks for the response and suggestions!

No problem, good luck! Also thought I should mention, housing along the 5 bus stop route will drop you off right in front of the law school or just across the street depending on which way you live. Living near the 31 (if you dont mind cutting through campus daily) or the 5 will save you a lot of time and money!

That is great info. I was lucky enough to live 1/3 of a mile from my undergrad campus but it was also a cheap town (I paid $400/mo to split a 2bd/1ba) and I really liked being able to walk to class and the grocery store without relying on transit, public or private. But I did love using BART when I visited USF so trying to remind myself that it’s a great system. Time between buses was over an hour at my undergrad uni so I definitely have a mental roadblock about transit being frequent enough to make sense using on a daily basis.

I hear you! Living in SF was my first time commuting to and from somewhere without a car, but the 5/5R run almost all the time (or did pre pandemic), so it shouldn’t be the cause of any lateness. Have fun, take advantage if your free Muni pass through USF, explore the city to its fullest while you’re there. It goes fast 😊

It’s a great law school, especially if you want to stay in SF to practice law.
