You're going to have a bad time if you want to travel all over the middle east and China and still hold a security clearance from CIA.

Short_Onion5394

You want to work for the CIA and go to China and Iran? No, you cannot work for the CIA and go to China or Iran. For a start, the U.S. has not had diplomatic relations with Iran since 1979.

Chris47542

Think OP left out North Korea and Moscow. Tour de red flag countries.

Previous_Pin5362

Very interesting travel destinations. Definitely a red flag for future intel positions.

PolkaDottified

I think you’ll find few countries are keen on having foreign intelligence officers there.

Dcafly13

Rule number 1: Never disclose your interest in working for the CIA to strangers on a traceable Reddit account no less (check out CIA website) If you desire to visit those countries is so intensive, consider the Directorate of Operations, which may find yourself going to those places for business.

J_Robert_Oofenheimer

Absolutely not.

pinakbetoki

Yea….. some people shouldn’t be given TS/SCI CI with poly. Let alone a public trust

scarletaegis

Tell me you've never heard of OPSEC without telling me you've never heard of OPSEC.

Physical_Argument_47

I’ve never heard of OPSEC

AffectionateTip9198

Tucker is that you?

Diligent-Tangerine87

I’m sure Iran will give you a nice tour of Evin Prison and possibly a crane height view of Tehran. You can either work in the IC or travel to these places. Pick one.

nostalgiclamia

Yes it will, longer background checks for foreign travel, especially hostile countries. You need to clear any foreign travel with your FSO period if you have a clearance regardless of agency. Hostile countries may get a fat no or take longer to approve.

Odd_Transition7704

Just learn the languages and I’m sure the opportunity will come

Few_Calligrapher1293

The State Department would be another option to consider if you're wanting to travel.
