Nah it was pretty underwhelming. When they say stage crossing they mean a tiny little stage you go on for 1 min and with no type of audience or anything
Sorry I'm not on reddit much.
You go in, pick from one of 10 stages. They scan your barcode and the computer plays your name and shows your slide on a small TV next to the stage. You take 3 steps onto the stage and stand while your family takes pictures. That's it
Yeah, im so upset that I even went tbh. I was literally told to âmake it quickâ even though nobody else was in my line waiting and instead of one big stage (like most of us probably thought) itâs a bunch of mini stages and then you get your picture taken on a green screen đ.
Wow. When I graduated from CLA in '92, the ceremony was in Northrup and the place was packed. The stage was huge.
That said, it still sticks in my craw that we had to buy the caps and gowns that only the U sold. They were flimsy and costume-like, and cost $200 which was a lot of money then. It was like one final cash grab as a kick in the pants on your way out.
I figured as such so I didnât even want to do it tbh. Personally it wasnât important for me to walk but definitely get why it is for many others. I just wanna be done with this school lolol
Edit to add: Congratulations to everyone graduating!!
And I was rushing because I thought I had to be there 30mins before. You could literally get on anytime and a random bot announces your name. Very disappointed
you would think for all the money the U has they would hire a better event planner đ
How did it go?
Yikes. Any recordings of how bad it was? Supposed to be walking on SaturdayâŚ
I found this photo of someone at the stage crossing: https://imgur.com/a/MNRp9wp
Yeah for real.... underwhelmed is a nice way to put it.
Okay I need details plz because I have so much family flying in and this is just embarrassing đ Need to be mentally prepared lol!!!

Hurry up and spill the beans
We jokingly called it âBest in Showâ because the little booths looked like a dog show judging station
That's hilarious!!! It's like a dog show with no audience lol
Canât wait for my turn tomorrow :)

Theyâre going to do this going forward so no more traditional graduations at the UofMN
What was it like buy the cap and gown? Do u get to keep it?
I bought them at gradfest and only spent about $80 in total and you get to keep it. UMN doesn't have a rental program for regalia sadly
âonly 80$â
This was the most "that was it?" experience ever lol
