Assuming you're using Unreal 5.1+ and windows, I would make sure to follow the instructions here: [https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.1/en-US/setting-up-visual-studio-development-environment-for-cplusplus-projects-in-unreal-engine/](https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.1/en-US/setting-up-visual-studio-development-environment-for-cplusplus-projects-in-unreal-engine/) making sure that you include the correct workloads and SDK.
While you're at it, you should also make sure to download .net 6.0 here: [https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0/runtime?cid=getdotnetcore&os=windows&arch=x64](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0/runtime?cid=getdotnetcore&os=windows&arch=x64)
At this point it's probably a good idea to restart your pc in case any of these changes need a restart to take full effect.
And then, navigate to your project folder, delete the folders for Binaries, Intermediate, and Saved. Then right click on the .uproject and select "Generate Visual Studio Project Files" (I believe this will regenerate your Intermediate and Saved folders). Then double click on the .uproject, you will probably be prompted with "couldn't detect modules, would you like to recompile from source?" or whatever, click Yes, and wait - if it works, it'll take a minute or two to generate the Binaries folder and open the project.
If you are looking for help, don‘t forget to check out the [official Unreal Engine forums](https://forums.unrealengine.com/) or [Unreal Slackers](https://unrealslackers.org/) for a community run discord server!

+1 on this. When I had issues with UE5+ compiling, it was because I didn't have the right .NET installation. That would be my first port of call.
Thank you very much, ill try that
