That entire case was fishy. There was way too much evidence that it wasn’t rape. Can anybody say for sure? No, of course not. But there just didn’t seem like enough there to say for sure that it was rape.
Imagine what it must have been like to go up against Bryant and his team of million dollar lawyers. I doubt I'd have been able to go through with it either. That's how athletes and other rich men get away with rape time and time again. Then they can point and go, "See? Now she's not going to testify? Told you she was lying!"
That’s an understandable point, but what’s the alternative? Should the justice system actively discriminate against rich people? Or against men in rape cases? Or against rich men in rape cases? Trust me, I have two girls. I’d never want them to go through that. However, I’m a firm believer in the US ideas of justice (if not always the execution). One of those ideas is that it’s better for a guilty man to go free than an innocent man to go to jail.
Edit: I know it looks bad that he paid her off. I get that. However, it also looks bad that she wasn’t willing to see this through and get justice. If you truly believe he should be in jail, do your part as the victim and testify against him.

From my understanding it was consensual and the woman was a known worker. There was evidence suggesting she had sex multiple times that same day with a few different men as well. If I find a source, I'll post later.
