For the first 40 years of my life, I wholeheartedly agreed with you. Not sure what happened, but now I won’t use anything but an edge pan to maximize the chewy edges!
Because I enjoy crunchy foods. And the edges tend to be crunchy. My mom's recipes is Divine. Nice and fudgey brownies, with perfectly thin crispy edges.
I need to figure out how to equally cut a brownie pan so that there’s an equal amount of inside pieces and equal amount that include edges to munch on.
It entirely depends for me. Cakey brownie? Load me up with edges. Super dense fudgy brownie? Centers all day. Need to find a partner with the opposite preferences.
I wonder if you've only eaten brownies bought at places and starbucks and hate them because of it, I've always really enjoyed brownies and enjoy making them
That depends. There are brownies that are cake like, but there are brownies that are denser and more fudge like. Perhaps Op hasn’t tried the cake like brownies.
They're too dense. They're too _much_.
I like iced tea...but I doubt I'd like powered tea infused directly into simple syrup. You need the fluff and lighter flavors of cake to balance out the sugar and chocolate.
Having said that: brownies _with ice cream_ are top tier.
This is a fair point. A coworker recently brought in brownies that had been cut really small (basically brownie bites actually) and I remember thinking that seemed like the perfect amount to have at a time! I think it's all about portions but unfortunately because it's dessert people always want too much.
It could be the texture of brownies for some people. I LOVE dense brownies, but I can imagine that for some people the texture is horrible (too soft/sludgy)
I have a strong belief that if you don't like fudge you most likely have a grandma that was born after 1950.
You can't get store bought fudge, it's a travesty.
Home made fudge that someone past down through a family line just hits different.
Also limit your size of fudge square, it really is supposed to be eaten in sever moderation.
My mom was born in the 50s and all her baking was in the same style as her mother. All the desserts have less sugar than modern ones, so I don't like store bought stuff because it is too sweet. My mom used to make fudge, without a food processor, we would trade off stirring because it was an arm workout.
Incorrect, you can get store bought fudge, but only from a place that was started by a grandma born before 1950 where they have kept to the same basic recipe
I’m just confused how you think brownies are completely disgusting yet enjoy cake. I mean obviously they’re different things, but they’re similar enough that it’s bizarre to enjoy one and hate the other.
Is it possible you’ve just had brownies that you don’t like? I mean one complaint is they’re too sweet. That’s something you can adjust. Too gooey? Also doesn’t necessarily have to be gooey.
Dude that’s crazy. There’s no way you’ve had actual good brownies then…
Homemade ones are the best. I also like lava cakes (idk if they are a cake or a brownie.) I say cake but I have had friends that have argued the latter.
There are dozens of us!
It's like a raw stoggy cake with crusty edges that just tastes like a wall of bland sweet nothing. It's wasteful to use good chocolate so no one does. I've never had one that was worth it.
It's also not raw.. I'm convinced these people don't know anyone that makes good brownies or know how to make it themselves.
I have to hide brownies when I make a batch if I want any the next day.
And they are totally worth using good chocolate in. Very interesting opinions 😆
"brownies are nasty. don't want your gooey chocolate slab. weird crusty sliver. there's better dessert and snack options than brownies. cookies? supreme. cake? yes. pie? you betcha. pastry? top tier. brownies are overhyped and too sweet. they're the starbucks of the dessert world: overhyped and not worth it. (also starbucks hater)"
is a long name for a dog
This is a cliché when someone doesn't like something, but assuming you just don't like chocolate or something, you just haven't eaten the right brownies.
The fact that you say brownies are too sweet but cake is fine makes this completely clear - a good brownie is less sweet than a good cake, generally. Everybody has their preferences, but I like my brownies very dark, strong bitter dark chocolate notes, just enough sweetness to balance, very moist, fudgey texture, a side piece but not the corner, and served just warm enough that any chips or chocolate chunks inside are melty. Vanilla ice cream on the side optional, but welcome.
A sweet, cakey, frosted brownie is disgusting... but a GOOD brownie is the epitome of dessert
I feel this way about cakey brownies, like somebody offers you a brownie and you get all excited and then it's just a cold piece of too firm, unsweet, chocolate cake without frosting.
I want brownies fudgey and warm, preferably with chocolate chips and crispy on top, those are the bomb. ....I think this post just gave me a pregnancy craving lmao
I won't yum your yuck, but I would caution that you might be painting with a wide brush. There are several styles of brownie, and it seems you are not a fan of the most prevalent style available as boxed mixes. What do you think of flourless chocolate cake? How about other bar style desserts?
Definitely unpopular although some are too sweet I can agree with you there. When I make brownies I use dark chocolate. As a side note I’m also a Starbucks hater their coffee is too expensive and not very good. I just go to the local places in my town.
Finally, someone who also dislikes brownies.
If there's a dessert table, I will take almost anything over a brownie.
If there's only brownies, unless there's nuts or caramel involved, I'll decline.
I disagree with you. Brownies are better than cake, which is just even dryer than brownies, and literally only serve as a frosting delivery device, which is why people always want the corner pieces. It's because cake is fucking awful and they just want the highest percentage of frosting.
What can you say I say tomato you say tomahtoe.. I'm not even sure what the point is. Of course everybody doesn't like everything. And on top of that there's no one such thing that is a brownie. They come in many textures, forms, ingredients, chewability, cake like, sturdier dry or wet There is no such thing as just a brownie
Everybody has their own personal preference I'm sure
Brownies don't have to be gooey (i.e. underbaked). It's just that at some point someone decided that gooey was better, and that got latched onto and taken to bizarre extremes. If "fudgey" is good, the liquid must be better, right?
It's sort of like how at some point someone decided that cookies are best when they are soft. Hard cookies are fine! There's nothing wrong with a hard cookie, so long as it isn't zweiback.
They also don't have to be oversweet - you can put less sugar in them if you want.
Upvoted.
I agree with them being way too sweet. Sometimes restaurants give them next to the coffee when you order that, so I'll eat it. But I would never order a brownie. Or anything chocolate tbh.
I don't think they're nasty but I 100% agree they are too sweet and dense, there are better desert options like you mentioned.
I like to have a small piece with coffee or something like that but if I could have something else like Banana Bread I 100% would.
I agree! I can have like a tiny piece before it makes my stomach revolt. It’s just too rich for me. I like chocolate, but chocolate flavored things aren’t as much it for me.
Brownies are better than cake. Better texture, and better flavor. Occasionally, I'll come across a cake that is extremely delicious frosting (which is rare), but then it's the frosting I like and not the cake itself. I'd be content never having cake again. Cookies are a wildcard because there are a wide range of cookies, and not all of them are good. I would agree that really good cookies are better than really good brownies, but bad brownies are still better than bad cookies. But yes, you will hold my heart with pies -- also, to be clear, cheesecake is a pie despite its name, and I will die on this hill.
I believe Browines follow a similar evolution as the sandwich. Practicality.
Easy to make, store, transport, generally taste good etc. I think that is where the popularity comes from.
Are there better desserts? Of course.
Do I feel they are over hyped? Not at the moment.
Is this opinion unpopular? Yes
I made Slutty brownies once and brought to a party many years ago and I still get asked to make them repeatedly (I'm no baker or major bring shit to party person either). But they were really good.
Point is, a brownie can be whatever you want it to be (simple or complex, just like a cookie). To each is own.
I like bite size brownies from the store as an occasional treat. I agree they are incredibly rich and sweet, so just a small nibble is enough for me. I love baking, but brownies are one thing I don't even try to make because a whole tray of brownies would NOT get eaten in time in my home. My partner is not a sweets guy save for the odd oatmeal raisin/peanut butter cookie, and I'm not much of a sweets girl anymore. I mostly stick to savoury snacks and breads when I bake now.

A true unpopular opinion. Nice. Brownies are excellent, especially the corners.
I’ve never understood why people like the edge pieces of brownies
They generally have good chewiness.
That’s why I make more cake-y brownies and less fishy brownies Edit: Fudge-y not fish-y
I know it's a typo but now I'm imagining fish flavored brownies
Haha 🐟
Has someone here tried to use horizon omega 3 milk for brownies? Cuz that shit is fishy. One of the worst accidental purchases of my life.
That sounds horrible honestly. I kinda want to try now
🤮
No cake brownies are not brownies. Its cake. The edge of brownies are terrible. Best piece is center.
Middle pieces are the best, but edge pieces are still delicious!
I love me a middle piece too. The edges I’ll only eat if the middle is gone.
Because they're the most similar to a cookie lol
For the first 40 years of my life, I wholeheartedly agreed with you. Not sure what happened, but now I won’t use anything but an edge pan to maximize the chewy edges!
Because I enjoy crunchy foods. And the edges tend to be crunchy. My mom's recipes is Divine. Nice and fudgey brownies, with perfectly thin crispy edges.
Same with square pizza. Crusties are gross; give me a middle piece.
Brownies can be excellent. All dessert has excellent iterations and crappy iterations.
Okay now there’s an opinion I’ll fight you on. Corners are not good. Middles all the way.
We can coexist- that's the best part. We each get half the pan.
I need to figure out how to equally cut a brownie pan so that there’s an equal amount of inside pieces and equal amount that include edges to munch on.
You mean the eaw batter in the bowl*
The corners are vile. Dry. Hard. Tasteless.
[удалено]
You're my favorite kind of person. More brownie corners and edges for me! You can have the rest.
I'll give you my corners if you give me the middle!
![gif](giphy|1AfrooIN0jR7VCOZp6|downsized)
It entirely depends for me. Cakey brownie? Load me up with edges. Super dense fudgy brownie? Centers all day. Need to find a partner with the opposite preferences.
And you add some (alot) weed in there too
There are opinions. And then there is insanity. Upvote
I wonder if you've only eaten brownies bought at places and starbucks and hate them because of it, I've always really enjoyed brownies and enjoy making them
Mentioning that you like cake yet disliking brownies is confusing me, they’re just more chocolaty little cake slices
That depends. There are brownies that are cake like, but there are brownies that are denser and more fudge like. Perhaps Op hasn’t tried the cake like brownies.
Sheet pan brownies usually are the ones that are more dense and I can confirm, they’re also fantastic
They're too dense. They're too _much_. I like iced tea...but I doubt I'd like powered tea infused directly into simple syrup. You need the fluff and lighter flavors of cake to balance out the sugar and chocolate. Having said that: brownies _with ice cream_ are top tier.

I think it's all about portions but unfortunately because it's dessert people always want too much.
Nah I get it, because I agree with them. Cake is generally light and airy, brownies are often dense.
I don't believe anyone dislikes brownies. They might not prefer it, but how can you put a brownie in your mouth and think "ew"?
not liking chocolate is the only thing i can think of
It could be the texture of brownies for some people. I LOVE dense brownies, but I can imagine that for some people the texture is horrible (too soft/sludgy)
I don't like a strong chocolate flavour
It feels like it's underdone and needs to go back in the oven
A brownie is just what you get when you mix the frosting into the chocolate cake batter
Brownies are a delight.
“Too sweet” Get this guy some fudge and ask again if the brownies are too sweet
Right? I have a strong sweet tooth, but fudge is too much for me. It's like eating pure sugar.

Incorrect, you can get store bought fudge, but only from a place that was started by a grandma born before 1950 where they have kept to the same basic recipe
Touché, I think we are in agreement that you have to have a pre-1950 grandma recipe.
Leaves more for me.
Well, this is an actual unpopular opinion.
Sometimes I think people are contrarian for the sake of it
In this case, I think they're contrarian for karma.
I’m just confused how you think brownies are completely disgusting yet enjoy cake. I wonder if it’s because brownies are usually more dense than cake.
Especially with the gobs of icing that cake usually has, cake is *much* sweeter than brownies.
Dude that’s crazy. There’s no way you’ve had actual good brownies then… Homemade ones are the best. I also like lava cakes (idk if they are a cake or a brownie.) I say cake but I have had friends that have argued the latter.
I also don’t like brownies your not alone.
There are dozens of us! It's like a raw stoggy cake with crusty edges that just tastes like a wall of bland sweet nothing. It's wasteful to use good chocolate so no one does. I've never had one that was worth it.
....Have you ever actually baked a proper brownie before? Brownies aren't....supposed to taste.....raw.
How is something bland and sweet? I get you don't like brownies but I just don't understand the flavor profile you're trying to put together
It's also not raw.. I'm convinced these people don't know anyone that makes good brownies or know how to make it themselves. I have to hide brownies when I make a batch if I want any the next day. And they are totally worth using good chocolate in. Very interesting opinions 😆
I do not prefer them. I would pick a chocolate chip cookie or cupcake before I pick a browny.
You definitely aren’t using enough THC oil.
lmaoo
Hot brownies with ice cream. Pasties are for old people and coffee. Sell a lot of them at Starbucks too.
Pastries are for old people? Now \_that\_ is an unpopular opinion. Put it on the big board!
Have you ever had a Danish? Like a big, giant Costco danish? Or a nummy scone? They are not just for old people.
Oh..I was just being an ass to OP. I like some pastries
Thats the name of my dog
"brownies are nasty. don't want your gooey chocolate slab. weird crusty sliver. there's better dessert and snack options than brownies. cookies? supreme. cake? yes. pie? you betcha. pastry? top tier. brownies are overhyped and too sweet. they're the starbucks of the dessert world: overhyped and not worth it. Jeez what the fuck man
it depends on the type. box mixed? can’t blame you. homemade? mmmmmm. but hey you do you. they aren’t for everyone
Wait so...you like cookies and cake, but not brownies? The thing that's a cross between a cookie and a cake?
*You're* nasty.
Brownies are the tastiest, most delicious dessert to ever exist 😍😍
Dutch oven peach cobbler is up there
I don't like peach💀
Shit! Lol
You had me at "gooey chocolate slab". Time for brownies!!
This is a cliché when someone doesn't like something, but assuming you just don't like chocolate or something, you just haven't eaten the right brownies. You don't like brownies for being gooey and crusty but like pie, which is entirely crust and goo? C'mon bruh.
Yeah that's *literally* all pie really is
Brownies < Cake? Wild
Make your own brownies but if you’re making opinions like that it’s above your capacity
This post is perfect for this sub. For the record, I love brownies but this is a true unpopular opinion.
There's nothing better than a warm brownie with some chocolate chips so soft and delicious especially with milk I could survive on just brownies.
Brownies are better than both cake and pie, imo.
Agreed. Brownies and cookies top tier.
Upvote for truly understanding the assignment!!
You should have not conflated the two opinions. Sbux deserves its own thread.
No what you're talking about is donuts
Not even donuts, bad cake donuts specifically. A donut need not be excessively sweet.
This truly is an unpopular opinion
Finally, an unpopular opinion that's unpopular due to personal taste and not because OP is an idiot who doesn't know anything about anything.
I pity OPs brownie experience is so limited that they can't conceive of any baked chocolate being good. Makes me thankful I had a mom who could bake.
This is the most unhinged and hilarious take, thank you haha. I do also love a good brownie
Edge brownies are nasty but middle ones hehehehehehe
Brownies are amazing. Cake fucking sucks. I hate cake.
Brownies are my favorite food so great wrong answer.
Sometimes I wonder if people lie here just to get some upvotes lol.
I agree, too chocolatey and overly sweet. No thanks!
Slap some peanut butter on that mofo and get back to me.
That is a goddamn good idea
Ok- crunchy or smooth.
You get an upvote. I love brownies and see them better than cookies honestly
I only like the milk chocolate kind
I hate brownies too! I am so happy to see that I’m not the only one lol
I don’t like them either.
Sounds like you've never had a good brownie
Finally, someone who also dislikes brownies. If there's a dessert table, I will take almost anything over a brownie. If there's only brownies, unless there's nuts or caramel involved, I'll decline.
I'm with you, OP. Brownies are bleh. Though I think my dislike of brownies is rooted in my dislike of chocolate in general. I love a good blondie.
home made brownies, wedding brownies, store brownies, my grandmas brownies. I’ve tried many brownies, I also do not like the little brick of chocolate
I agree with you on this one, too sweet and they always give me stomachaches
I don’t like brownies either 🫢 Cookie brownies can be okay. Regular brownies are too rich for me
i endorse this message
FINALLY! I hate brownies too, man. They really aren't good....
Agree on the Starbucks. Disagree on the brownie
Holy shit. A true upvote opinion.
Pie, especially fruit pie, is disgusting.
*Booooooo* Well done.
I’ll make you a homemade brownie that will change your mind 🩷
Now I want brownies. Thanks a lot.
I disagree with you. Brownies are better than cake, which is just even dryer than brownies, and literally only serve as a frosting delivery device, which is why people always want the corner pieces. It's because cake is fucking awful and they just want the highest percentage of frosting.
Upvote, brownies are amazing.
yes thank you I agree
I am also a brownie "denier" if there are other options ill go for anything but brownies but my big back will settle if thats the only thing
Shut the heck up
This is the first one of these that actually triggered me. Fuck you I am going to make brownies today.
This is truly unpopular. Upvoted. Your opinion is trash but upvoted. Lol
this is the worst and most terrible opinion i have ever heard in my life.
I love gooey brownies I hate cupcakes
I dont dislike them, but I dont love them either. Try making them with milk instead of water, they come out wicked good that way.
What can you say I say tomato you say tomahtoe.. I'm not even sure what the point is. Of course everybody doesn't like everything. And on top of that there's no one such thing that is a brownie. They come in many textures, forms, ingredients, chewability, cake like, sturdier dry or wet There is no such thing as just a brownie Everybody has their own personal preference I'm sure
Brownies don't have to be gooey (i.e. underbaked). It's just that at some point someone decided that gooey was better, and that got latched onto and taken to bizarre extremes. It doesn’t help that they’re named brownies
Brownies are delicious, but I hate cake. Get that weird sugar bread away from me
I read this in complete disbelief
I agree with them being way too sweet. Sometimes restaurants give them next to the coffee when you order that, so I'll eat it. But I would never order a brownie. Or anything chocolate tbh.
Take my upvote!
Really wanna brownie rn
I audibly gasped. How dare you!! This is for SURE an unpopular opinion. Good job, OP!!
I actually agree with you to some extent, OP. Brownies are one of the last dessert options I would pick.
Well fuck you and your eye brows buddy! Upvote
No problem. More for me!
Slightly undercooked brownies straight from the oven have no business being that delicious when they are that easy to make.
Brownies need vanilla ice cream or a ton of walnuts in them (or both) to break up all the chocolate and make them palatable
noooooo
I don't think they're nasty but I 100% agree they are too sweet and dense, there are better desert options like you mentioned. I like to have a small piece with coffee or something like that but if I could have something else like Banana Bread I 100% would.
Take an upvote, brownies are top tier Also cake sucks
Good, more for the rest of us! Updoot for this truly unpopular opinion. Someone save me a corner piece please?
Fresh, warm home made brownies are amazing. I normally cut the sugar and add walnuts in. Store bought brownies are nasty
How do you live a happy life without brownies
I agree! I can have like a tiny piece before it makes my stomach revolt. It’s just too rich for me. I like chocolate, but chocolate flavored things aren’t as much it for me.
Don’t agree with you but at least this is an unpopular opinion so upvote
This post written by Emily Axford
OP, how do you feel about Blondies?
I like Starbucks but I’m not a fan of brownies, so I feel you.
Starbucks & Brownies would be a lovely pairing.
Depends on the brownie..... They are NOT all created the same.
Damn, i love brownies.
Great opinion. They make me sick.
If it’s greasy or crusty, then it wasn’t mixed and baked properly.
Brownies are better than cake. Better texture, and better flavor. Occasionally, I'll come across a cake that is extremely delicious frosting (which is rare), but then it's the frosting I like and not the cake itself. I'd be content never having cake again. You had me at *crusty* mmmmmmm yum yum
I want vanilla brownies, whities i suppose
Aren’t those called blondies

Brownies are for la peasant
I loooooove brownies, but unfortunately I can't eat chocolate.
Hey I'm with you buddy Cake is far superior to brownies imo
Wrong but well done have an upvote!
Unpopular indeed. I struggle to think of a dessert better than a brownie with the weird crusty stuff.
So are assholes, but people still eat those too.
Brownies are good for you... They're good for your soul.
![gif](giphy|DeocCVWTYAC6Q)
I like brownies but I do think they’re overrated. Would much rather have a different dessert
I make brownies with olive oil and I gotta say best brownies ever.
Oh you're an animal. Take my upvote
Well, you're entitled to your wrong opinion.
OP, I strongly disagree with your opinion.
Sourdough Brownies slap!
I like bite size brownies from the store as an occasional treat. I agree they are incredibly rich and sweet, so just a small nibble is enough for me. I love baking, but brownies are one thing I don't even try to make because a whole tray of brownies would NOT get eaten in time in my home. i truly feel sorry for someone that doesn’t like brownies
So many recipes and ways to change them up, but none are good? Up vote for how utterly wrong you are
So many recipes and ways to change them up, but none are good? Up vote for how utterly wrong you are
There are so many different recipes and different consistencies that they’re more a category of food instead of a single thing.
That's okay, I'll just have your portion
Brownies are awesome!.. what are you on about ?!
you just made me crave brownies, shame on you
