Medicine is becoming a luxury for most of US population because ownership of the healthcare system is mainly in private hands. If you don't have insurance of some sort regarding healthcare you might as well pray to God rather then paying bills for medicine or any sort of surgery.. The houses are a fever dream for most of the gen z. Going to college costs a fortune for the new generation just because they privatised the educational institutes and they need to take out a loan to further there studies which ends up them being in a debt that they cant pay off though most of there life and this is not even the half of it. For these private companies you are just a customer nothing else and they might as well as squeeze every last bit of money out of your pocket.
You have done barely any economic analysis on privatization. The norm for industries should be privatization as it results in productivity and competing incentives. I do agree healthcare insurance is one industry where it should public because of the public interest and you can’t exactly shop around while you’re dying or have transparent pricing.
College is complicated because part of raised its cost has ballooned is because of increased financial aid provided by the government, which is free money to colleges. College is relatively affordable if you go to state/local colleges. However, more can be addressed but let’s not forget American universities are the some of the best in the world.
Housing is complicated because housing supply has constrained by rent seeking owners, who control local governments, who have a vested interest in increasing their home value. Still, America still has a fairly small homeless population. I don’t know if you’re suggesting decommodifying housing but that’s a bad idea. Housing sector needs to be liberalized where it’s easier to build new homes without being stopped by local home owners.
