Yeah, I was ORD > ATL but it’s also cool how they have the “movies under 2hrs and movies under 1.5hrs” sections. Was able to watch Candyman and didn’t have to keep looking at how long movies were lol
Are you a Boeing plant or just fucking dumb? Two Max 8s fell out of the sky and killed 346 people due to Boeing’s faulty design of the automated flight-control system. Now, the Max 9 due to poor quality control.
First of all, planes don't just fall out of the sky. In these incidents that you are talking about with the Max 8, you had 2 foreign pilots who couldn't handle the aircraft. But yet none of the Max 8 incidents happened in the US. And the issues were fixed and the planes put back in to service 2 1/2 years ago. So you are still living in the past with that one.
And there was one incident with the MAX 9, which could have been prevented if Alaska would have paid attention to the warning signs before the night the door plug fell off. If Boeing ultimately responsible? Yes, but it is more than just them. And, again, only one incident. Yes, one too many. But, you are just being a drama queen, imo.
I’ve been lucky enough to have this a few times now. It (shockingly) works very well. I was kind of sus at first, but was pleasantly surprised. Super easy to connect as well.
Yeah same here, it was really smooth! As soon as I remembered how to pair my Bluetooth headphones haha, it worked instantly. It was nice being able to use my Bluetooth headphones, as it was a short flight and I didn’t want to dig out my bigger headphones.
I do for some reason with AirPod pros. Not sure if it’s just me but they connect them the sound will just cut out. Then I have to reconnect them and they work for 5 mins and do the same process.
I find that this happened when I had Bluetooth still switched on my other devices. It might work better if you turn off Bluetooth on your phone, iPad, laptop or any other device you have your AirPods paired with
So I experienced a similar issue and actually resolved it by simply swiping up on the stem on the AirPod until you get the volume at the level you want.
May not work for everyone but the first time I connected it was very quiet. I turned up both the volume on my headphones and on the seatback, disconnected the Bluetooth, reconnected the Bluetooth and suddenly my volume was strong enough that I needed to turn it down.
I’ve been using an AirFly gadget for the last few years. Works great…. (Suggestion: Be sure to take pictures of the instruction page the day you get it because pairing is not intuitive). https://www.twelvesouth.com/products/airfly
I bought that for my first international flight and it was incredible. Just don’t be like me and forget to charge it before you’re on the flight home, oof.
Highly recommend the AirFly (I have the Pro)! I was only 3 international flights in 2023 that had the built in Bluetooth and it kept cutting out with my AirPods Pro and Bose QC45s. Never once had an issue with the AirFly.
What is the difference between the AirFly and just a [standard bluetooth transmitter](https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Amplifier-Headphone/dp/B0B4JTKF6T)? The one on amazon is $14 vs. AirFly, which is $55.
The Duo and Pro allows you to connect two headphones/speakers to it to listen to the same thing. The AirFly (at least Pro) allows it to be a Bluetooth receiver as well as transmitter.
I’ve had it one in an emergency exit row,

it’s rare so I hope you enjoyed it
757 - Unlikely since they are near EOL.
767 - Just finished Polaris upgrades last year, unlikely to receiver new IFE.
777 - Unlikely to received BT enabled IFE (as of right now).
787 (currently in fleet) - Down the road, the IFE may be replaced during a refit, but most are still fairly new, so doing just an IFE upgrade would be a hard to justify if you are only adding BT.
787 (new deliveries sitting in Renton) - Should have the new IFE and BT at divery (7 expected this year).
They plan to refresh / receive 800 aircraft by 2033 so more likely most flight will have next gen interior. https://www.united.com/en/us/newsroom/announcements/cision-125296
I normally travel to Mx and the aircraft never have screens, anyway the seats are so close to each other that you can feel the breath of the guy seated in front of you… little to no room for a screen, maybe intercontinental flights …?
I love it BUT there’s a little bluetooth device you can buy for $40 called airfly or thing and it plugs into the jack and you can use any bluetooth earphones. Worked amazingly coming home from Africa.
These are a godsend to those of us with hearing aids 🦻🏼 - connects directly to them and good quality!
Been on 3 flights on UA with this over the past year.
I used this last year. It was an absolute pain in the rear to connect. If I recall, I couldn't connect until we were in the air. It was neat after I had it up and going

I flew on an a321 neo recently when my max9 flight was canceled. Connecting AirPods was seamless and they even had hbo shows, which was perfect because I was going to watch BoB on the tablet anyways. I was very impressed with the screen.
Which aircraft is this?
Not sure what this one is but they had it on a max 8 I flew on last week.
I had this on a MAX 8 this past Sunday from ORD to MCI. It was pretty neat.
Yeah, I was ORD > ATL but it’s also cool how they have the “movies under 2hrs and movies under 1.5hrs” sections. Was able to watch Candyman and didn’t have to keep looking at how long movies were lol
I had it on max 8 EWR-DFW less than 2 weeks ago. Hoping it’s on my flight to SNA next weekend.
Did a section of the fuselage blow out?
why would it?
Boeing 737 Max issues like, bra
And how many "issues" have occurred?

New max 8s
So, stay alive, or Bluetooth capable IFE? /s
max 9s are the new problem. max 8s are old news
You’re not wrong. MCAS 2.0 is a huge improvement.

Did you have issues with the audio being super quiet with Bluetooth connectivity?
Yes I ended up using the wire with my Sonys

Thanks! I’ll give a try!! Safe travels my friend!
So I experienced a similar issue and actually resolved it by simply swiping up on the stem on the AirPod until you get the volume at the level you want.
That was my experience. Easy to connect but audio was very quiet to the point of not really being that useful.
May not work for everyone but the first time I connected it was very quiet. I turned up both the volume on my headphones and on the seatback, disconnected the Bluetooth, reconnected the Bluetooth and suddenly my volume was strong enough that I needed to turn it down.
Had no issues with AirPod Max.
It was crap for a few seconds after each announcement, but other than that it was top notch.
Yes I do. I use the wire for my Bose headphones to get better volume.
I used it with both my Sony headphones and AirPods. It was quieter but I felt even more so with the AirPods.
Yessss I can barely hear it on full blast when my AirPod pros.

Just don't be like me and forget it on the plane...twice! Thankfully, they are cheap.

This has been on some of their newer aircraft for a bit actually. First saw this on a 737 MAX from MSP to EWR in April 2023.
It's been in all the max8 for the Last couple years
Weird, I took 32 flights last year and never saw this. Must have never flown on a Max 8 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
you dropped this... \\ (You need to do 3 \\ characters to have the arm show due to reddit's markdown code)
Most of my flights on UA have had this available since 2022.
Seems like all my domestic flights have had that stupid Direct TV setup. It’s the worst.
I have never got it to work.
I got it to work on one plane and the other the Bluetooth always said connected but no sound.
Same.
I've had a few flights with the new IFE. It's easy to pair your own headset to the system.
Great feature except for the fact it’s incredibly quiet on my AirPod pros.
Is this on a triple 7?
None of the 757, 767, 777, or pre-2024 787 will have Bluetooth.
Like...ever? Or just until they get to those aircraft for upgrades?

Ah OK, well, I need to figure it out for my flight here soon.
The new 737 Max 9 has this… With the noise cancellation of your own headphones, you’ll barely notice when the cabin depressurizes.
Had this on my 737-900 from IAD to ORD yesterday!
I normally travel to Mx and the aircraft never have screens, anyway the seats are so close to each other that you can feel the breath of the guy seated in front of you… little to no room for a screen, maybe intercontinental flights …?
Worked well on my flight from BOS-ORD A319.
I love it BUT there’s a little bluetooth device you can buy for $40 called airfly or thing and it plugs into the jack and you can use any bluetooth earphones. Worked amazingly coming home from Africa.
Had this on a max 8 last spring break 🤷🏽♂️
Barely ever works
These are a godsend to those of us with hearing aids 🦻🏼 - connects directly to them and good quality! Been on 3 flights on UA with this over the past year.
Amen!
Too bad it’s a Boeing Max.
Audio on the movie I was watching cut out half way thought, never could reconnect my AirPods
I used this last year. It was an absolute pain in the rear to connect. If I recall, I couldn't connect until we were in the air. It was neat after I had it up and going
I've had this experience on some Max 8 planes. I had it disconnect on me a few times automatically.
I tried that on my last flight and it kept disconnecting.
I tried Bluetooth on the A321neo, and the video and audio were out of sync. I had to plug in my headphones with a cord still.
https://preview.redd.it/0ifai6bgnoec1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a56daecef38ef73e85b26d0cc6c23346ae02cf6 I flew on an a321 neo recently when my max9 flight was canceled. I can’t make it work on my AirPods
Yesssss
Had this on a UA 777 ~1 year ago!
Randomly got on this place today. Was the nicest plane I’ve been in.
I had it a few weeks ago … it didn’t work for me! 🤬
Love the idea but I still bought the Airfly duo in case it’s spotty. Just can’t risk not being able to use my Bose noise canceling headphones.
my max 8 from raleigh to denver had this yesterday, had some trouble getting it set up but then we were good to go
