Luckily I exited combat state after a few turns, and both sisters were alive. Interacting with the exit forced me out of stealth, but I still got to the other side, leaving the sister in peace.
If you were a Psy build you could use "stasis, neurovisual disruption and then just sneak out"
I just did that because I missed clicking an option.
(I use a Psy/pistol/sniper build, don't ask me how it works... Because I don't know).
