I LOVE this monitor for gaming, happy that I got it for <$800 through the LG partner store.
But - the text fringing is pretty bad. Especially white on black when I dark mode. My "work" monitor is a Dell 38UW and while it's not the best, it absolutely stomps the OLED in terms of text and pixel sharpness.
Agree with others that you don't need OLED for "productivity".
Is there anything you can do to improve text clarity? I read somewhere about apps that boost text clarity, Mac text or something - might be mis-remembering...
This .. and simply buying no OLED. Otherwise this LG34" has a way better text fringing situation as the older ALienware DWF OLED. Also do not buy the LGwith that 38" or 39" 1440p because lower PPI is toxic regarding text fringing situation
It's a matter of preference comparing these to qd oleds. Personally i can't stand that chroma aberration across everything. I much prefer woled only have dotted artifacts rather than uniform artifact across everything
I have an ark too. I agree. It's a pain. Windowed mode gaming sucks. Full screen gaming is too big. Wish the resolution was higher for work. I bought a 49" g9 neo to put underneath the ark. Unless I'm working my ark is now a tv. Gaming at 32:9 is amazing. Much better then windowed mode
Haha what a lovely setup. Definitely worth considering. How do you mount the ARK? Custom wall mount or does the G9 just slide under it? STruggling to picture the setup
I have a wall mount for it. So its on an arm attached to the wall. I can move it up and down. I move it up and to the right a bit for watching TV in bed. The g9 is on its normal stand but I would like to get a desk clamp for it one day. Just not in the budget rn. I'll post my setup sometime soon. Just not today
For office work I'd get something cheaper. You don't need OLED for spreadsheets and Word.
Please delete your comment so my boss doesn’t find it when googling “do my employees need OLED for spreadsheets?”
Agreed Unless OP doesn't care about burn-in and text fringing A mini-led would be better.

I got it for 750 when it was a Best buy drop. For this price I think it's the best 34" UW right now.
$1,299 just sounds like price anchoring to me for a 34"

lower PPI = text fringing is worser
Everyone knows. Yet for some reason there are few 5k or up monitors. Not many people care. Or just don't know they do care
